It's pretty decent. Typical Villain vs Protags novel. MC is smart and not actually evil tbh. He basically has a system which shields him from the backlash regarding opposing a Protagonist, but he can't kill them unless he lowers their Heavenly Fate points below 10% of his Black Heavenly Fate Points. He reduces them by interfering with the typical Protagonist tropes like faceslapping etc., by interferring with the original plot, by winning over/diminishing the trust between the Protagonist and their allies/Heroines and by stealing opportunities. These point reductions grant him double the amount in Villain points which he can use in his System mall. The point reductions are very small amounts throughout, which slowly escalate, though the increase is pretty much negated by each subsequent Protagonist having a higher maximum of Heavenly Fate points. Once he kills them he gains whatever their cheat/golden finger was, with the option whether to use it or not, likely tied to some Karma stuff in the future. Currently he has used all of them regardless of that though.It is definetly frustrating to see the typical things that happen to a Protagonist from the pov of the Villain. With constant coincidences or random occurances just happening out of nowhere to try and benefit the Protagonist even after MC has interfered with the existing ones. But that's clearly intended.The first 3 Arcs were good, with the MC directly interacting with the Protagonists to reduce their Heavenly Fate points and stuff. The latest one was a bit rougher imo since he played a hidden mastermind and didn't show up to the Protagonist until right at the end. One of the main issues, other than the one above, is that he is basically constantly going against Protagonists without much gap in between. The way it works seems to be so that, after the MC finally kills a Protagonist, he can take over the remaining opportunities that they were supposed to have, yet it isn't long before he is just thrust straight into another confrontation with a new one. The 4th one (again) was definetly the worst example of this. Literally out of nowhere he got a message from his master about one of his relatives wanting to gift a bloodline to MC that was ripped out of a disciple. So basically as soon as the 3rd one was finished, he immediately rushed off to deal with this clear new threat.The only other issue is that the chapters were initially releasing on Patreon, with up to around 450 being free. But lately he has gone to Webnovel premium, removed all chapters from Patreon and said he is going to be touching up earlier chapters, so will be a while til the chapter count gets back up there, let alone here on Ranobes where we are still in the 300s. I'm gonna pause here, since the current arc ended. Ill likely wait until the chapters start updating again, if they ever do. I'd say that you should read the first few interactions with the first Protagonist to see if you will enjoy this novel, since that's basically what happens throughout. Though he gets stronger and gains more of the Protagonists cheats. kinda boring... the mc creeps on protagonists 24/7. He's got no life outside of this and eating grass to power up basically. Usually chinese novels of the genre are also repetitive, but they're still a bit more varied than this. The MC is patient, and cunning. He is very charismatic and knows how to speak to and treat people. He also is quite fond of his harem and takes the time to keep in touch with them even when away.Sure, the unrelenting love of his harem is unrealistic, but it more or less is reward of his system due to an item. His "villain sight" can detect the protagonists and supporting characters, and he can interpret how long they are to live, ect based upon the values. And heaven will squash him if he just outright kills the heroes/heroines, so has to do things the hard way while also gaining the support of the various sects and clans - absolutely necessary to raise his own strength to confront the protagonists that crop up in different continents. It is his social skills that enable him to trap the protagonists in his schemes, such to strip away their allies, support, and to serve as his pawns.This novel isn't quite a slice of life, nor a pure cultivation novel, but elements of both. Light, easy reading. I do like and appreciate the LOOT - the MC loves to grab that loot from the battles and it isn't brushed over like many novels. It was decent enough but the way his system acts makes it so that there will basically never be a situation where the MC is unable to do something.At the start the system waives the requirements for summoning soldiers (having a base and the relevant buildings/facilities), reduces their cost and speeds up their summoning time to be instant. If this was just limited to this initial time, then it would be fine. But it isn't.At chapter 18, after he has discovered that a beast tide is about to attack the nearby gathering point where a love interest is, he receives a quest from the system to rescue her with the reward being, basically, a random lootbox. The issue is that the quest grants him an increased level of permissions temporarily as well as the ability to summon a helicopter, whilst again waiving the requirements (having an air field) as soon as the quest starts, not even as rewards. It feels like the system, whenever needed for the plot, will simply waive any requirements and grant him whatever it wants in the guise of a quest. Another small thing, which I'm not sure if it is just how his system is, or if it is translation errors, is that his system just does things as it wants without informing him or letting him choose. In the first chapter it asks him if he wants to summon the soldiers, provides him a cost breakdown and then immediately summons them without any confirmation.The requirement to deploy the MCV (Mobile Construction Vehicle) and barracks is temporarily waived, and soldiers can be directly constructed. The host currently has 1000 initial energy points, and each soldier requires 100 energy points. Does the host want to build soldiers?""A soldier takes one minute to build. Considering the host's current situation, an additional 10 energy points are required to eliminate the construction time. The host can build a total of 9 soldiers."As soon as the system finished speaking, nine figures appeared in front of Su Chen.In a later chapter whilst he is grinding, he gets automatically levelled up to 2 without the system informing him until he asks. For some reason this also cuts the amount of energy he received from the enemies in half as well, which doesn't really make sense since the energy is obtained from the corpses of the beasts. Him Levelling up doesn't affect them in any way. If it was EXP, then it'd make sense, but this energy acts more like currency in that it is used for everything.Finally, there is also some weirdly phrased parts and the usual basic math problems.Thinking of this, Su Chen decided to make five hunting dogs and four engineers.One hunting dog requires 100 energy points, and one engineer requires 100 energy points. Red alert?!!!? Indeed. Overall, I quite liked this novel. However, I believe that there are parts that become repetitive and can end up becoming boring for some readers. Most readers are here for the system and not the harem. The novel is light and does not involve a harem, but a wife. The racism tag is about the "alien/monster/mutant races", not involving the human races, which are barely mentioned or even ignored, maybe only mentioned in a paragraph at the beginning. The main character is a quiet individual and doesn't experience many tragedies or hardships. He is also someone who prefers to stay behind the scenes and does not tend to fight head-on, preferring to delegate tasks. As the novel progresses, the plot becomes more complex, but this is only superficial and does not require much thought. You have the perfect setup for a cool, evil Mc. His character is an evil lich with a group of Overlord-esc NPCs loyal to him and he becomes his character right after turning into a lich by sacrificing an entire cities worth of people (NPCs).Then, the story starts. MC has regressed back to level 1, but is now a lich, and is a white knight type character. He runs away from the super secret hiding spot only his most loyal NPC knew about because he’s worried he will kill him (and because he wants a new start separated from his actions). He feels terrible about killing people, and goes out of his way to avoid using his dark magic (because dark magic is bad). He makes a monster to guard his phylactory, and then says that’s the last time he’ll use it.Now, if the system was interesting, all that could have been okay. But it’s not. It doesn’t really make sense. Pre level 20 Mc with the aid of an NPC priest takes on a super high level dungeon and takes out the boss. It’s an uninteresting, uninspired level system that in no way makes up for the rest of the stories problems.It is well-written, grammatically correct and no spelling mistakes or odd sentence choices. Yep. I found it too boring to continue past 40. You get the play by play of every little action mc takes in scenes and it just gets grating after a while. The mindscape is neat, really feels like the story should have focused around that more instead. Ahh, another book published by royalroad, I feel like this book will be especially good with that character growth tag and no naive tag, glad to get that off my chest.
