Chapter 678: A Rope of Bones
?
Yarin's POV:
'I' swarmed toward the dwarf. Seeing this, he finally became serious. But at the same time, he seemed to be even more excited. He muttered nervously, "Art... This was simply a supreme work of art. Formless was tangible. Formless is myriad... It's so perfect and coincidental. As expected, you're the one chosen..."
I acted as if I didn't hear his crazy words and attacked mercilessly. In an instant, I drilled a few bloody holes in his limbs. The blunt metal legs of the stool were not sharp, and it would take a lot of strength to pierce through a person's body. This would cause greater pain and crush his muscles and bones.
A normal person should not be able to stand up by now, but the dwarf was not normal. He ignored the wounds on his body, and a rope appeared beside him at some point. It was the same as the one worn on the hostage, stained with red-to-black blood.
As expected, the dwarf's body had been modified and had broken through the physiological limitations.
"With you, those inferior toys are meaningless." The dwarf trembled as he held onto one end of the rope. His pupils constricted into the size of a needle in excitement. "Come on! Come on, hurt me, let me bleed, injure me, kill me! I know that this is his test for me. I will obtain more rewards from being hurt by you!"
He suddenly rushed over and did not avoid the overwhelming attacks. I made a few more bloody holes in his body in just a few seconds.
His face was pale, but he showed a kind of crazy excitement. The rope in my hand seemed to have some strange power. I couldn't consume it, and it could change its length at will.
I dodged the rope that was coming at me. Suddenly, it changed direction and charged straight at Lily!
She had been observing cautiously from the side, occasionally cooperating with me to add more wounds to the dwarf. However, the dwarf seemed to have forgotten about her for the time being and did not care about her attack.
I didn't expect him to change direction and aim at Lily suddenly. I had no choice but to split a piece of myself to stand in front of Lily immediately, but it was too late for me to dodge with her.
"Pfft."
It was the sound of a knife stabbing into flesh. The moment the rope came into contact with me, it firmly wrapped around part of me. Even if I changed my form, I couldn't get rid of it. It was as if it was stuck to me.
An inexplicable sense of danger suddenly appeared. I definitely couldn't form a human form now. Just like I couldn't do anything to it, the rope couldn't do anything to me. It couldn't lock me down like it did to the hostage before because the current me was equivalent to bones everywhere, and there were no bones. This was contrary to its 'program'.
However, once I returned to my human form, it would bind me and perform its function.
"Are you alright?" Lily raised her leg and kicked the dwarf away. She asked cautiously and anxiously.
My movements were affected and slowed down. The existence of the rope also caused some trouble with my movements. But overall, it was not a big deal.
I was bored and didn't want to be entangled with this strange deformed person any longer, so I rolled up a broken steel bar and aimed the sharp end at the dwarf lying on the ground and laughing softly.
"That's it. Kill me and let me bleed. Let my blood pave the red carpet for you to descend into the human world!"
I looked at him coldly and said indifferently, "I won't kill you. Your blood is disgusting. Even
a vampire bat starving for three days won't want to touch even a drop."
The steel bar was raised high.
"No, you definitely will," the dwarf said confidently.
"Ah!"
I heard a cry of pain behind me. I turned around and saw Lily. A rough rope had pierced through her shoulder!
"Hey! Are you okay?"
I panicked. I couldn't care less about the dwarf and caught the girl who had fallen. "I'm fine. Don't worry about this for now." Lily's voice was trembling in pain, but she still pushed me to deal with the dwarf, who seemed to have no strength to resist. "As long as he's awake, he might not have any backup plans. If you don't kill him, then knock him out. Don't hesitate, hurry!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the dwarf laughed.
"Are you going to listen to her and let me live? But what about her? The bone rope won't be released as long as I don't die. If I don't give the order, it will be locked onto this little girl. You know I won't let her go.
"It will accompany her for the rest of her life, and it will not be able to leave her until she dies. She will forever be my toy, my puppet, until I tire of her. I will give her to my master and use her humble blood to realize her final value!
"So? Do you want to kill me? Or let me go and let the girl pay the price for you?"
He laughed shrilly, the sound of his voice making me uneasy. The anger burned my rationality
to the point that I raised the steel bar from my joints to my chest.
'Since you want to die so badly, I'll send you on your way!'
Lily tried to stop me. "Don't listen to him, Yarin. He's provoking you. I'm afraid something terrible will happen after you kill him."
"But bad things have already happened," I heard myself say coldly. "When he dies, I will use this damn rope to drop him on the square and feed him to the crows."
Poof.
The steel bar pierced through the dwarf's chest.
