Destroying My Own World

Chapter 272 Purpose and choice.

Chapter 272 Purpose and choice.

Beldathiel was frozen still, and everyone wondered why she hadn't moved an inch after she destroyed that reality. Amaryllis decided to check on her with her clone and when her clone arrived, she saw Beldathiel was blankly staring at nothing.

"Belda?" Amaryllis asked as she slowly put her hand on Beldathiel's hand.

"I killed them. I can feel it in my palm that I killed ourselves from that world," Beldathiel answered as she kept staring blankly. "I killed Mykel as well, and I can hear everyone's voice in my head and what pain they felt," Beldathiel added and her eyes started to glimmer.

Amaryllis frowned and hugged Beldathiel to comfort her, and even though it was a success, the drawback was quite heavy even for Beldathiel. She then brought Beldathiel back so everyone could comfort her and let her know that they believed it was the right choice.

"Beldathiel's power was originally Sloth, an ability to make herself invincible to some extent. She then upgraded it to Inertia where she made her surroundings invincible to some extent as well. Now it becomes Fracture where she could destroy everything in her surroundings," Nal pointed out as she looked at Beldathiel and was amazed by the power.

"It's not just Inertia, but the will of Mykel as well. The dice can grant a wish by sacrificing something in return. The greater the wish, the more she needed to sacrifice," Odin explained. "Now that both powers are combined, it became Fracture and now she can break realities as she pleases, and the sacrifice is the living beings inside those realities," Odin added.

"I know that, but why does she get the drawback from it if the requirement has been met?" Nal asked with her eyebrows raised. "Wouldn't that make you wonder what would happen to her if she destroyed all of them at once?" Nal looked at Odin and Loki who started to understand why Nal asked the first question.

"She said that she could feel it in her palm, and I believe she felt how she killed them. She could feel every one of them, crushed by her palm as she felt their voices in their heads," Loki answered.

"If that's the case, she has to become as heartless as she can be. She will suffer the most from this," Nal said and then walked away to think of a way to prevent Beldathiel from taking on all the burden herself.

(On the other side of the universe)

The Lord looked at the abyss that had started to grow as it became alive and no longer passive. It started to devour the light slowly, but they were in the vast universe in which the abyss devoured the light at millions of light years of speed.

"My Lord, it has moved faster than before, and it's acting quite aggressively," Michael reported as he lowered his head in the presence of The Lord.

"Then we shall send it back to where it came from," The Lord answered with a soft soothing voice.

All the Angels spread their wings and the Archangels were the ones who led them at the front. They produced The Lord's light as they pushed back the abyss with divine power.

They needed to be cautious about the abyss because too much light and divine power would strengthen the abyss. On the other hand, if they didn't use enough light, they would be devoured by the abyss and disappear in an instant.

It wasn't the first time they had done it, and not a single time they could send the abyss back without a single casualty. Dozens of Angels died no matter how carefully they did it, and their deaths only made the abyss grow stronger. In the end, no matter what they did, it wouldn't stop the abyss from growing.

The Lord himself had been trying to find the solution, but his whole life, he couldn't find the answer. The power that he produced or anything that originated from him would strengthen the abyss. At the same time, nothing could stop or prevent the abyss without his power.

"My power is yours as well, and yet your power is yours only..." The Lord said to himself and watched the abyss move back slowly. "How long are you going to suffer like this?" he continued and he sounded sad and concerned.

"Are you genuinely concerned about that thing, or is this just a facade, presenting a sickeningly perfect image of the highest being?" Nal's voice could be heard from behind.

"I may be perfect now, but I wasn't back then. What I learned is that violence won't solve anything. It will only fuel more violence," The Lord answered. "Your wishes, they were something that made the others jealous, but I granted them anyway. I tried to make all of you live in peace, side by side, but in the end, violence still exists," The Lord continued.

"Kindness only fuels greed, greed fuels envy, and envy fuels violence. You didn't create us like those Angels, and yet you were hoping for us to be like them. I don't see the logic behind it," Nal pointed out as she watched as the abyss had shrunk.

"Would you cross the river not knowing how deep it is first or what kind of creatures waiting for you inside?" The Lord asked. "You would try to throw a stone at first to see if there was something underneath. You would put a stick in the river to check how deep it would be. You could swim or make a boat and then the current was too strong for you. You would try everything first to reach the other side, and that's what I'm doing right now," The Lord explained.

"You're saying that we are all just an experiment? So you can find the answer to deal with the abyss?" Nal asked.

"I love my creations, no matter if they're an experiment, I love every single one of them equally. Would you still be mad even after you know that?" The Lord asked back.

"Love and kindness wouldn't solve your problem. Mykel has shown you how can he be malicious, malevolent, heartless, and cold, and yet the people followed him no matter what, and do you know what makes him better than us?" Nal asked back with her arms crossed.

The Lord didn't say a single word because he wondered about that as well.

"What makes him better is that he gave them purpose. A purpose to keep them moving, a purpose to stay by his side, a purpose to allow them to be anything they want, and lastly the purpose to live," Nal explained with her eyes squinted. Enjoy more content from My Virtual Library Empire

"Answer me. What's the purpose of my existence? To control the humans so I can play with them? That only serves one purpose, but if I look far ahead, I don't see a reason for me to stay alive forever. Power? Authority? Those are false hopes since you put a limit to how far we can be," Nal said quietly, showing how everything was meaningless.

"You gave mortals an everlasting joy, heaven. But that purpose ends the moment they're in heaven. You forced them to believe heaven was the best thing they could ever get," Nal continued and she looked disappointed. "You created hell, for what? To punish them? But did they ever ask to be created so you can send them to hell?" Nal squinted her eyes.

"You asked me if would I cross the river? Why should I cross the river if I can get everything on my side in the first place? Why do you want me to cross the river? For what reason?" Nal asked. "Mykel didn't tell me to cross the river, he gave me choices," Nal continued.

Nal realized she had gone overboard and overstepped her boundaries as The Lord's creation. She decided to stop ranting and held herself back because of how she was so frustrated by The Lord and his way of ruling the world.

"I won't say anything, but would you listen to this?" Nal asked and looked at The Lord. "You gave your creation a chance, but nobody has ever given you a chance before. So, once this is over and it goes well, you should speak with Mykel. You might learn a lot of things from him, and perhaps it will make you understand why the abyss exists in the first place," Nal said.

She then left, not wanting to trouble The Lord further.

As Nal departed, The Lord pondered her words, his gaze fixed upon the abyss. "A chance? If someone or something is granting me a chance, does that imply my omnipotence is not absolute?" He questioned aloud. "Perhaps, from the outset, I've not been the one truly in control. Maybe it's you who's been attempting to communicate with me all along," The Lord mused, his attention directed toward the enigmatic depths of the abyss.

Beldathiel had calmed down and began to understand the drawbacks of her power. She wanted to go out there once more so she could get used to it so she wouldn't make a mistake.

"Are you sure you want to do this right away?" Jeanne asked as she held Beldathiel's hand so tightly.

"We don't have much time, and The Lord warned us about that earlier. I have been doing nothing my whole life, so I want to be useful for one more time," Beldathiel answered. "Elena is fighting out there on her own, against the man she loves the most. I want to share her burden as I'm the first friend she chose, and I won't disappoint her," Beldathiel added and looked at Amaryllis as she nodded her head.

Everyone looked at Beldathiel with worried expressions, but they couldn't stop her. The moment Amaryllis opened the crack, The Lord appeared next to Beldathiel.

"I will help you," The Lord said calmly.

Everyone was surprised and looked at him with confused looks.

"I'm doing this for my own good will and try to understand rather than to solve," The Lord pointed out.
