Chapter 1018: What They Need
Chapter 1018: What They Need
Lenny was surprised at what he had just heard.
"They know about the Codex?" He thought to himself. This was a total surprise to him. After all, the only other person that knew about the location of the Codex was Uriel, the fallen angel and he was already dead.
However, Lamastu and Naamah were clearly conversing about it.
This brought a short sense of panic to Lenny. After all, he was anything but prepared at the moment. He had lost most of his memories, his soul level was still low, and Uriel had said that he needed to at least become an Arcade level Demon because the Fallen Angels were just that powerful.
Now, he was starting to wonder whether getting the codex now was actually a good idea. Lenny did not know that he was only thinking in this thought pattern because of his current status as one with loss of memory.
Just as the women conversed with one another, the sound of heavy chains were heard as a figure was led out of an underground dungeon. This figure was tired up at different sides with very heavy chains. His legs, hands, and his waist area.
His entire body was bound tightly, the chains glowing with a kind of light. Obviously, they had been touched by runes.
Lamastu peeped looked over at the figure that had been let out. "Oh, is that... Eve’s trash of a son, Cain?"
Naamah nodded.
"Awwwn, Naamah, I knew you had a kind heart. You really do not know how to treat family with love. If I was the one, he would be missing a few limbs by now."
Naamah smirked, "I too was tempted to do that, but you do remember that like us, he is cursed by the One Above All. No matter what I do to him, he will just heal. I rather not stress my self with the matter." she waved her hand in dismissal.
"And that is exactly why i said that you have a good heart. If it was me, I would have loved to see how many buckets I would have been able to fill with his organs as I watch him heal again and again. Who knows, I might even be able to feed my entire demon army with his intestines for hundreds of years."
Those words had not been said in hiding. Cain had heard them clearly. And a frown stained his face. But it was not just him. Every member of the crowd could not help but think of how cruel Lamastu was. All of a sudden, she was not looking so beautiful anymore in their eyes.
Surprisingly, Cain smiled her way. "Aunty Lamastu, you have always been my favorite, you know, right? Its really not everyday you find one so innovative as you. Maybe its because you are so stupid. Now say the first word that comes to your mind stupid?"
"Chicken!?"
The crowd wanted to burst into laughter, but those that valued their heads held back.
Cain knew that lamastu could only communicate by reading peoples lips and he had changed the words that came from his throat and tongue to not match the formation of his lips. This was how he made a fool out of her.
Lenny looked at cain. he had a bit of an issue with this man. But who would have thought that this Cain was the one talked about from the scriptures of old.
He was Cain, the man cursed to roam the earth for brining death into the world. He was what many would call the first murderer.
Lamastu realized that she had been made fun of and wanted to act. in fact, the Abbadon demons wanted to act. but Naamah raised a hand to stop them all.
"We are here to enjoy the Azure festival. Let the competition begin." She waved her hands and the crowd cheered.
All of a sudden, a Crystal ball the size of a house was ushered into the Arena by some slave earthen elves.
A demon stood behind them, slapping them with the sting of his whip as they moved forward.
Those that slacked off were given extra attention till the extent of bleeding on the ground. The demon that held the whip did not stop until death of those that had dropped was confirmed.
The Demon’s whip was stained with a mixture of flesh and blood.
However, no one thought this sight to be a pitiful one.
A figure suddenly stepped forward. It was a Succubus. She was dressed beautiful and would be the conductor for the day’s events.
"This year, Lady Naamah and Lady Lamastu have thought it generous to decrease the requirement for the competition from a minimun of the Deep Demon rank, to the Great Demon Rank 4. All participants that do not meet the standards should please evacuate the stand."
There was a bit of grumbling here and there, but a lot of participants exited.
Cena saw this and frowned. "It would seem like those hoes have a particular tasteful requirement this year. What the fuck is their plan?" he thought out loud.
"There want to crack the laws!" Venir suddenly spoke out.
Cena turned to the little girl. "What do you mean?"
"They want to crack the laws binding the primary Plane. They have found its weak points, but just shooting holy energy from I and my sister is not enough."
Cena’s eyes brightened with understanding. "There are trying to comprehend the law fighting back against them. But shouldn’t they be capable of that? After all, they did eat from the tree of knowledge."
Venir shook her head, "that’s the problem. The law is in a constant state of change. Its patterns, never the same. The knowledge they have has made them too ridged, especially in their chosen fields. That is why they need a mind that can be freshly inspired."
"You mean, one that can move with the instant change. They need a Rune Master."
Venir nodded.
