Chapter 1044: Agent X’s Smarts

Chapter 1044: Agent X’s Smarts

She pushed hard at him, but he did not release her, "I knew it! You also have an Arcane Ability and have been using it from the very beginning." he chuckled lowly.

The Belphegor family of Sloth where just as their name suggested.

They were eternally sluggish, a distinctive trait that all member of the family had. For this reason, they were almost never in any wars for planes, and within their territory, it was easier to see a demon having a nap than battling.

It was indeed a wonder how they were then able to become a Royal family. However, it was exactly because of their sloth nature that they had become a member of the royal families.

The Reason was because they saw the world from an entirely different perspective.

They were so slow and sluggish that they were capable of two things.

Firstly, it was the ability to do things so incredibly fast so that they might hurry up and go back to napping.

The second was the fact that their arcane bloodline ability, the peek of sloth had the advantage of affecting even their environment with their sloth nature.

This was for both living and none living things.

This was the reason why all the times that Agent X had attacked with his demon guns, Iris had seemingly dodged the attack with extreme speed.

In truth, she had used her Arcane ability: Indolence.

This slowed down the entire world around her.

For someone like Iris that enjoyed her laziness, this ability was perfect for her.

It was the same way that she had killed so many of her enemies that had been sent from the other families to kill her, including her own son.

However, Agent X was once the second greatest assassin of his time.

Just as Lenny would do, he first acquired in formation about his target. And then he used that information to his gain.

This was the reason why Iris was called the ’Unseen’. Her targets never saw her when she attacked.

However, this made her very cocky, especially with her continuous wins.

She would always kill with this ability, so much so that she had become addicted to just using it, never grooming her other abilities, or improving her overall fighting ability.

Agent X knew that even with his flames, he was at a disadvantage, after all, she could even slow down their burn.

However, he had noticed a fatal flaw in her ability. In that items she had contact with never slowed down.

The whale she had been standing on was a great example of this.

It never slowed down, moving in accordance with her power.

It was for this reason that he did what he did, embracing her in a tight hug.

At the same time, he had quenched his flames after his first attack to weaken her fear of him. And then after she attacked the first time, she got braver and bolder, attacking again and again.

and then she went for his heart, but this was something that he had long foreseen. After all, he was coming for her own mark that was located in her heart. It would be foolishness not to protect his own. And so he had his own plated within his chest.

Of course, the process by the Demons had not been an easy one, but he had done it either way.

And when got the chance, he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her close to himself.

After which he embraced her.

The Hellfire flames burnt wild and wide. Iris screamed as she activated her darkline magic and cosmic magic trying hard to fight his ability.

They smashed hard against the frozen waters. Back and fought, again and again, they hit back and fought, the Hellfire flames turning everything into nothing.

In their rumble, they even smashed into the body of some of the whales, destroying them, it was like hot knife through butter, blood and guts everywhere.

This continued and Iris tried, even using her knife to stab him again and again.

However, it was no use. The worse part was the fact that Hellfire used Law through the inherited Arcane ability.

Meaning that her Cosmic energy and Darkline magic were absolutely meaningless.

And the only thing that could challenge his Arcane ability was her own Arcane ability, but her ability was not a weapons type, as such when activated, it only made the dying process more painful.

After a few more seconds, all that remained in Agent X’s embrace was a charred corpse with exposed teeth and bones here and there.

He let her go, her bones falling to the ground as ash blew into the air. he was bleeding, from multiple places, but he still smiled, "I did say I was going to give you a hug didn’t I? That was not so bad, now was it Grandmother?"

He punched through her rib cage and then he waved his hand, clearing the ash. Her heart revealed itself.

Somehow, he could tell that she was still alive. but the life force from her body was weak.

Those from his bloodline were very tough to kill indeed.

He plucked her heart from her chest. He observed it a bit. there were three inverted ’6’ on one side of it.

This was the mark of their family’s Oath. Everyone of them had it.

He squeezed hard. And with a pop sound, it burst like a watermelon, the mark, turning into gold hue that rushed through his hands and into his body, becoming a part of his chest.

"Ahhh! she saved me the trouble of killing my father. Which means that I now have the marks of three Generations. Only six more and I can open it." he mused to himself.

And then he sighed, "So much power! I think I am close to another breakthrough."

Just then, a rune appeared at his ear, "have you collected the key?" A deep bass voice was heard.

Agent ’X’ nodded. "of course, Principality.... I am ready to heard to the next location."

"Good... The Bloodline trace states that it is your grandson by soul birth."

"Really...!" he smiled as he picked up Iris’s skull. A little souvenir for his effort. Another trait all members of this family had.
