Chapter 1189: Enel Vs Family 2
Chapter 1189: Enel Vs Family 2
The ground still trembled from the ox-beast’s rampage as Luca’s children caught their breath, eyes locked on the behemoth that had bested them. The massive creature snorted, each exhale like a rumble of thunder, its burning eyes daring them to try again.
But they all knew, even Nate, that they couldn’t. Its sheer size, strength, and resilience made it an insurmountable challenge.
Then, a shadow moved at the edge of the den. Enel emerged from the misty cover of dusk, his eyes locked on the beast with an intensity that commanded attention.
His siblings, dusted and bruised, stared as he approached, his steps light but purposeful. He was calm, radiating a silent resolve that was almost chilling. The creature seemed to sense a new presence and turned to face him, pawing the ground with enough force to send rocks scattering.
"Enel?" Nate’s voice broke the tense silence. "What are you doing? You can’t defeat it—none of us can."
But Enel didn’t respond. His gaze never wavered from the beast, his jaw set, his muscles tense as if every fibre of his being was preparing for what lay ahead.
Without another word, he sprinted forward, and the beast charged to meet him. Dust exploded from the ground as their paths collided. The creature’s horns slashed toward him, but Enel dropped to the side at the last second, sliding under the beast’s chest and striking its underbelly with a sharp, measured blow that echoed in the den. He sprang up, narrowly dodging a swipe of the creature’s tail, and landed just out of its reach.
With a roar, the beast pivoted, hooves crashing down. Enel darted in, grabbing a handful of the thick fur that lined its side and launching himself onto its back. It bucked, its massive body twisting and writhing to throw him off, but Enel held fast, his movements fluid and controlled, each one a calculated step toward victory.
"Impossible," Nate murmured, disbelief widening his eyes as he watched his younger brother. "We couldn’t even push it back…"
Enel steadied himself atop the beast, gripping its fur as he braced for its next move. The creature twisted, thrashing wildly, but Enel shifted his weight with practised precision, always staying one step ahead. He climbed higher, near its neck, and with a swift, forceful twist of his arm, struck a pressure point at the base of its skull.
The beast stumbled, its massive legs buckling under the weight of Enel’s relentless assault. With one final, defiant snort, it toppled backwards, collapsing onto the ground with a thunderous crash that shook the entire den. The siblings watched in stunned silence as Enel jumped off, landing gracefully beside the now-immobile beast.
For a moment, the only sound was the distant rustle of wind.
His siblings were speechless, disbelief mixed with admiration plain on their faces.
Enel’s gaze lifted, and he turned to meet his father’s eyes across the den. Luca stood still, expression unreadable, but something shifted in his stance as Enel strode toward him, each step exuding quiet strength. When he reached a few paces from his father, he stopped, his gaze unwavering.
"This is my answer," Enel declared, his voice firm and resonant, echoing through the silent space. "Bring it on..."
Those words had been clear as day. This was Enel throwing out the challenge his father had given him a day ago.
He had been told to quench his shine and give up on the throne. But clearly, Luca’s words were dog shit to him.
All the other children, Nate, Jay, Nerina, Aiden, Dana, and Lana, looked at Enel with a particular gaze.
If it had been hidden before, then it was no more. Enel was challenging his father.
Luca’s eyes narrowed, but a glimmer of admiration flickered within them, hidden behind his usual stern expression.
After all, his son was stating that he would even go against him.
Luca’s lips twitched, just barely, as if holding back a smile.
Without another word, Enel turned, shoulders squared, and walked away, his silhouette disappearing into the shadows, leaving behind a den filled with stunned silence.
He had said all he needed.
Enel was not a fool. He understood what was going on.
This hunt for the throne was simply the catalyst that excited the true darkness in these ’grandchildren’ of his.
After all, they also bear the mark of his family on their souls, cursed to kill one another for gain.
It was inescapable. Such was their fate.
Enel would not claim to understand Luca’s intentions, but after what happened that time he had to go back time, it was only safe to assume the worse.
Also, history had proven that throne successions were naturally bloody.
Lastly, Enel knew of a certain that Luca was not blind and had been seeing the attempts at his life by the other children. But yet, he did not say anything about it.
On one hand, he showed that he dotted on Enel, gifts, more freedom, and even telling the others to be like him.
Yet, he allowed attempts on his life.
There was definitely more at play here than what met the eyes.
Of course, keeping a challenge to the shadows would have been best, considering it was just Enel against them all.
But Enel had a kind of pride only mirrored by the first of the fallen.
He could not hide his excitement to face them all. Even if it was all at once.
After he left the den, Nate walked up to Luca, "Father..."
"I know..." Luca interrupted him before he would say anything. "We shall settle it all tomorrow. " After which he also left.
Nate gritted his teeth in anger, and his younger brother, Jay, walked up to him. "Don’t worry, the demons have assured us they will deal with him, and father too, if necessary, of course. Nothing shall stop your way to the throne..."
[Author’s note: Wait for it, it is coming... Also, thanks for the gifts guys. You are awesome.]
