Chapter 936: Hunt Starts 2
Chapter 936: Hunt Starts 2
*SLASH!*
Lenny suddenly felt a blade cut his side.
"AHHH!" He groaned. He had not seen her attack, but worse than that, even his sense that flared up when there was danger did not flare up at all. In fact, it was as if he had felt a normal breeze.
Only after the attack had landed did he realize that he was being attacked.
Lenny made a huge jump back.
He looked all around himself, but he did not see any body. The only thing that he saw was the many beasts that had their eyes on him.
Even now, none of them had attacked.
*SLASH!*
once again, another attack landed. This time around Lenny fell to the ground. The attack had been on his back.
He looked around in confusion. He did not know where the attacks were coming from and he could neither see nor sense his opponents.
"Come on, now! You are supposed to be a great demon existence. At least put up a good fight for this mummy! Other wise, I wont get good points from my Hunting System. And Mummy needs to become a Red soul ranked existence before the upcoming festival."
*SLASH!* She attacked again. this time around, she attacked his right leg, cutting his tendons from the back of his knees.
Although she was giving slashes, she couldn’t help but notice that Lenny healed nearly immediately. This trilled her even more.
She licked the blood off her blade in ecstasy, "you are a very weird one you know?" her voice was gentle, but playful. "Your soul is green and obviously wounded to incredible bits, but some how even with so much damage, you are some how still alive."
She stared at him intently. She was right. It was indeed a miracle that Lenny was still up and about. After all, he had fought against Voidlings.
Those creatures had taken terrible bites off his body. When Voidlings feed, they did not just feed on the physical. Everything within range of their teeth was utterly consumed. this naturally included the soul.
At the time, Lenny’s cells could not heal because of the effect Depression had on him, but after being exposed to Cain’s menacing aura, the remaining effect that depression had on his body was gone.
But that did not mean that the wound to his soul had some how been healed too. To heal a physical wound was entirely different from healing a wound of the soul.
Right now, in Nana’s eyes, Lenny’s green soul had holes about it. But the biggest wound that his soul had was at the top. a big part of his head had been chopped off.
Ideally none should still be standing with such an injury, but lenny’s soul had a very unique composition that even her did not understand.
If not that she wanted the extra points that were awarded by her system for hunting, she would have killed him already and fed on both his soul and his system.
"Hmmm! You are not even defending yourself. How is this mummy supposed to get her beautiful points, huh?" she spat out in anger.
However, her eyes were immediately drawn to the binds holding him in place.
She smiled, "Oh! I see... don’t worry, I don’t mind helping you at all."
On saying this, she moved like a spectral, cutting the binds that held his soul in place.
In the After truth, the binds around Lenny’s hands suddenly loosened on their own accord. Nana had helped him be free.
Now, his movements were more fluid.
"Good! Now, you have no more excuse." she commented. However, a certain thought came to her mind and she waved her hands. The beasts suddenly part ways allowing a path for him.
Lenny saw this and in his panic, he looked around, "you are letting me go?" he asked in confusion.
"Letting you go?" Nana looked at him as if she was looking at a fool. "You know, My System won’t be called a hunting system if there is no hunt right. Now, go on! Run along. Mummy really needs those points, and a running Prey is a FAT hunt."
Lenny thought for a second. He looked at the terrifying faces of the beasts about him. He knew that he had no choice. After all, if he ran, he would have a chance at saving his own life.
He turned in the direction of the gap that had been made and ran through it.
As he ran, Nana giggled, "good! very good!" her eyes brightened up as she suddenly got an alert from her own system.
Now, things were interesting.
What she did not know was that this was a mistake she should have never made.
After all, even without his memories, Lenny was not a normal person.
It was not just his mindset and powers that made him abnormal. Rather, it was the values he prided himself in, that had sank too deep in his bones.
As he kicked against the ground, rushing into the dark, Nana giggled, her laughter echoing off the walls of the Valley. meanwhile, her pet beasts groaned ceaselessly, some of them kicking their hind legs back and forth, ready for the hunt.
After giving Lenny a two minutes head start, she waved her hand. "Go get him boys!"
The beasts had been waiting for this opportunity and they rushed after him.
As they did, she took her time as she strolled after them.
The chase had only began and it was not even five minutes later. But, something unexplainable happened.
All of a sudden, she heard whimpering and then she felt her connection to some of her beasts suddenly cut off.
This surprised her a bit. However, she felt the connection cut off some more.
"Oh! you are finally fighting back? Did you suddenly develop some balls?"
And then she watched as a bloodied figure walked out. He had the flesh of one of her beasts in his mouth. "No! that’s not it. I am not sure. After all, I don’t remember, but I think... I think... running bores me..."
