“Joining the Demon Manga Club is an honor for me. I’ve previously read your works which are impressive. Our Kyoto City Group definitely needs talents like you for our animation project. I look forward to our pleasant cooperation in the future, thank you all!”

Abigail Johnson spoke with a style that was both authoritative and gracefully composed like an elegant lady, winning the favor of her colleagues.

Meanwhile, Cherish Turner felt nervous. This Miss Johnson was Daniel Peacock’s fiancée, encountering her too often couldn’t be good. She didn’t want to get involved in Daniel’s affairs anymore, and she didn’t know if Miss Johnson knew about her past relationship with Daniel. If she did find out, she would most certainly have a hard time at Demon Manga. No woman would be generous enough to tolerate their fiancé’s ex-girlfriend.

Just as she was pondering, her phone suddenly rang. William Griffith’s distinctive ringtone attracted attention from several colleagues when it rang during Abigail’s speech.

“Uhm, sorry? I need to take this call…” Cherish awkwardly smiled, then hurried off to the restroom with her phone. Without a doubt, the call was from William Griffith!

The ladies’ restroom was unoccupied and silent. Cherish answered her phone, “William, what do you want? I’m kind of busy right now!”.

She hunched over, afraid someone might hear her. After all, secretly dating the big boss required utmost secrecy. Otherwise, it would certainly attract hatred. A lot of people on social media had already been disparaging her out of jealousy. William was the man every woman in Sea City wanted, and now she was the one who had him, hence the possibility of attracting more resentment.

“Where are you? Your voice sounds weird.”

“I…I’m in the restroom!”

William paused upon hearing this, but remained silent.

“Do you like the phone I gave you?”

“Yeah… it’s okay, just not as convenient as my old one. Why do you ask?” Could it be that he called just to ask about the phone?

“Come downstairs.” William suddenly said.

Cherish jolted in nervousness. Downstairs? Could it be that he was downstairs at the office entrance?

She hurried to the window and looked out and saw a familiar low-profile Cayenne parked on the roadside. Today, surprisingly, William didn’t drive his conspicuous Maserati!

“Hold on, I’ll be right down, but everyone is in the hall because a new supervisor just arrived. It might look suspicious if I slip out alone. Could you wait five minutes for me?”

She didn’t tell him that the new supervisor was Daniel Peacock’s fiancée. She was worried that knowing would stir up something that could be troublesome for him.

As Cherish came back to the hall, all the things Abigail had to say were over, and the crowd dispersed. It was then when Cherish secretly slipped onto the building’s entrance to meet William.

Upon recognizing William in his car, she was startled by the sudden sound of the horn. “Get in,” William said, looking handsome and cool.

“Why? I’m really busy with work transitions, so I can’t delay too long!”

Wanting to chastise her for her rush to leave, he reined in his urge and simply handed her a box.

“What’s this?” Cherish asked, taking the box curiously. Upon opening it, she was greeted by a beautiful, high-end pink smartphone that she absolutely loved!

“A phone? You bought it for me?” Cherish asked, her eyes twinkling beautifully like a sprite, entranced William who couldn’t shift his gaze.

“It’s a gift for your trip to Japan. You should always have a phone when you’re out,” William replied in a cool manner as if it was not a big deal.

But Cherish couldn’t help but throw her arms around him and kissed him, “This phone is gorgeous! I really need one for my trip to Japan. William, thank you!”
