For a moment, silence hung in the air. Then the leader let out a sharp bark of laughter, slapping his knee as if Ross had just told the funniest joke in the world.

"Hah… Did you hear that, boys?" he sneered, turning to his crew. His nine men, each more hideous than the last, erupted into cruel laughter, their jeers filling the dimly lit room.

"You rich kids are somethin' else," the leader drawled, shaking his head.

"Walkin' around like gods, like the world owes you just 'cause you popped out of some rich bitch's cunt. Ridin' in your fancy cars, livin' in your mansions, fuckin' hot bitches without a care in the world." He spat on the floor, eyes burning with resentment.

"And now, you think you can buy your way outta this?"

Ross met his gaze without flinching.

"That's where you're wrong," he said.

"I wasn't born rich. I grew up on a farm, dirt poor. My family barely scraped by. I worked my ass off, got lucky, and made it to the NBA."
