Chapter 127: Clash of belief

Chapter 127: Clash of belief

Reeva struggled to keep his mind intact as every sensation became increasingly painful. He rolled his body, trying to move away, but Dilan gently held him up with a firm hand.

"We have all gone through this," Dilan murmured. "Please bear the weight of our god. It will be over soon, once he descends to this plane."

"..."

Reeva couldn’t speak, he was still wrestling with the turmoil inside his mind. From the moment the "god" had touched him, it felt as if a spell had enveloped his thoughts. Such power was possible for a high-circle mystic, capable of creating their own domain of influence.

He clutched his head as the spell continued to warp his mind. With every passing moment, he felt himself being slowly drawn into becoming a believer in the void, in the entity that was everything and nothing at once.

"W... What are we supposed to do?" Reeva asked, uncertainty clear in his voice. He was halfway between himself and a convert to their belief. His mind was forming new patterns, adjusting to this twisted reality. Reeva began to see why this world needed to be destroyed, everything was too bright, too vibrant, too alive.

Everything he looked at hurt, like staring into the sun constantly. Even the faint light from the small oil lamp felt like a searing beacon. The pain was unbearable, each breath sent another wave of agony through his body.

He realized then that his body was no longer suited to live in this reality. He felt an overwhelming pull toward the void.

"How do I stop this?" Reeva asked, his voice shaking as he extended a trembling hand.

"Help us in our cause, and we can break free from this prison," Dilan replied with unwavering conviction. Reeva could tell this man had been a cult member for a long time, deeply devoted to the cause of destroying the world.

Yet, some part of Reeva still clung to his old self. His mystic energy surged, running rampant through his body. Something strange was happening during his transformation. His mystic force churned violently within him, and he instinctively tried to control it by focusing on the coldness inside him. But then, he noticed something different.

At the center of his body, just behind his heart, there was usually a yellow circle of mystic energy. This time, however, there was something more — a new white circle had formed, and both were emitting mystic force.

Normally, such an event would push Reeva into a state of demonic transformation, his mystic energy spreading uncontrollably throughout his body. But this time, the white circle was also radiating mystic energy, clashing with the yellow. The two forces collided, each trying to overpower the other, hoping to annihilate the weaker one.

Reeva pushed hard, trying to strengthen his control over the yellow circle. He was curious to see what would happen if he won. The void’s influence — the white circle — lacked the intention to truly convert his beliefs, his mind was split between two opposing forces. The belief in [Happiness] and the belief in [Everything], both generated energy and crashed into one another.

At that moment, his body became a battlefield between the two mystic circles.

"AAhHAHAHAHA... God, ahahaha... everything is god... ahahahaha!" Reeva laughed maniacally, caught in the chaos of the clashing forces within him.

Words spewed from Reeva’s mouth at random, switching between worshipping the entity and fits of manic laughter. The [Everything] belief was still quite small as it began forming inside his body, which was why Reeva hadn’t completely lost himself yet. But its size was steadily increasing, bit by bit.

The yellow circle wasn’t losing ground either. Fueled by Reeva’s sense of happiness, it grew larger, combating the expansion of the white circle. His chest tightened as the two forces surged within him, neither willing to back down. Unlike a normal mystic circle, which existed in a realm of imagination, these were physical entities battling for dominance within his body.

Reeva’s instincts kicked in, urging him to halt the growth before either force expanded beyond his body. Yet, as the two opposing energies increased in size, they reached a stalemate, neither willing to yield.

Mystic force filled his body to the brim, imbuing his eyes with a strange, glowing light. He could see that the [Everything] belief manifested as a white, viscous liquid pouring from his body like saliva. His body had become a fountain of conflicting energies.

"Are you okay?"

Dilan asked, his voice filled with uncertainty. He had never seen a conversion like this before. He swore that converting to their belief had never been this intense.

The white liquid, unable to gain further ground within Reeva, began to flow outward, seeking another target. It looked for a new opportunity, and it found one in the form of Dilan.

Reeva could do nothing, trapped in the prison of his own body, watching the war between the two mystic circles rage inside him.

The white liquid entered Dilan, infiltrating his mystic force and channeling it back to Reeva’s body. At this point, Reeva resembled a demon, half composed of the void’s [Everything] belief and half of the [Happiness] belief.

Poor Dilan, Reeva thought as he watched the mustache man’s eyes widen in shock, an influx of energy flooding into his body. Dilan couldn’t utter a word before his mind was consumed with nothing but pure reverence for the void, generating more mystic force.

The white circle gained an advantage in the fight, but the yellow circle wasn’t about to go down easily. A yellow fog began to seep through the room, surrounding Dilan. Before long, it invaded Dilan’s body, causing him to break into laughter, creating a moment of joy and generating more happiness for Reeva to draw upon.

Throughout this bizarre battle, one man remained unaffected, the hooded figure. If his face had been visible, it would have been frozen in a horrified expression.

He had been working this job for quite some time, and every conversion had been straightforward, the cult’s power absolute. But for some reason, this man — Penu — had just turned another cult member into even more of a lunatic.
