?Chapter 127: Chapter 128: Assuming You Can Get Out_1 Chapter 127: Chapter 128: Assuming You Can Get Out_1 The servant led them straight into the flower hall, where Muniang was already waiting. The siblings truly hadn’t expected that Qiao Muniang would be so easy to talk to today and so readily let them in. In that moment, Qiao Lianhua’s heart began to feel uncertain.

“You’re here? I was just thinking of looking for you. Who would have thought we could sync up our thoughts so well and meet here,” Muniang said, her lips curving in a smile that was not quite a smile.

Although the words sounded warm, coming from Muniang’s mouth they failed entirely to convey a hint of warmth to Qiao Dalang and his sister. Instead, the look in Muniang’s eyes made them shiver.

Upon hearing from Qiao Lianhua of the destruction of the embroidery room and Muniang’s warning, Qiao Dalang was no fool. He could clearly see the naked hostility from Qiao Muniang toward them and naturally understood she must have confirmed the room was ruined by them. But Qiao Dalang wasn’t scared; Qiao Muniang had no evidence, and as long as they denied everything, even if they were to take it to the Village Head, she would have no way to prove anything. With this thought, Qiao Dalang felt a renewed sense of confidence.

“What’s this? We’ve been here so long and not even a maid to offer tea? What kind of ill-mannered maid do you have here,” said Qiao Dalang as he sat down, glancing sideways at Qingya, who stood by Muniang’s side, his words heavy with implication.

Muniang’s lips curled slightly with irony, “Oh, so your family has a ritual for drinking tea, then? If you have something to say, say it quickly, before I decide to send you packing. I want to see what else you siblings have up your sleeves. Let’s settle it all today.”

Qiao Dalang’s face turned pale. Ordinary peasant families like his naturally couldn’t afford to drink tea; getting a bowl of sugar water was already quite good. Qiao Muniang’s blatant contempt stoked the flames of his growing resentment, and he shed any pretense of dignity.

“Qiao Muniang, don’t think we’re unaware of what you’ve done. Your affair with Mr. Wu, we’ve seen it all very clearly. A married woman like you shamelessly flirting with another man. Tell me, if we spread the word, wouldn’t the Village Head dunk you in a pig cage?”

As Qiao Dalang spoke, his face twisted into a sly, self-satisfied grin.

Muniang scoffed, “Do you think everyone is as shameless as your sister, desperate to seduce any man she sees?”

Qiao Lianhua sprang up, “Stop pretending! I knew something was fishy when you didn’t want to introduce me to Mr. Wu. Turns out you were eyeing him all along. Your public cuddling at the foot of the mountain is not something no one has seen!”

Muniang was taken aback, truly unable to recall what they were talking about, but Qingya turned pale, and said sharply, “Stop talking nonsense! Our Lady is pure and chaste. That day she fainted, and Mr. Wu was just passing by and helped her up. How did it turn into something so unspeakable when it comes out of your mouth?”

She herself did not believe this explanation, but for the sake of her Lady’s reputation, she had to defend her no matter what.

“Ha, who would believe that? Men and women should not touch each other. How come Mr. Wu just happened to be passing by that deserted spot? I bet it was you who set up the meeting, right? Even your fainting was so skillful, conveniently collapsing right into his arms. Qiao Muniang, I really underestimated you before!” Qiao Lianhua said with gritted teeth.

Qingya was furious but unable to refute. The Lady had not intended to fall into Mr. Wu’s arms; he had seen her faint and rushed over to catch her. But how could she say that? How could she suggest Mr. Wu had improper intentions towards their Lady? Who would believe that?

Having grasped the situation, Muniang showed not a hint of fear, her lips curving up, “Oh? So you’re here just to tell me this?”

Qiao Dalang, unsettled by Muniang’s laughter, still stiffened his neck and said, “No one else knows about this yet. If you want us to keep quiet, we can, but at a price. At least, one thousand taels of silver.”

Muniang “hmphed” in response, realizing she was being waited for: “Threaten me? What if I don’t give it to you?”

Qiao Lianhua glared and said, “Since you are heartless, I will show no mercy. Just as you destroyed my reputation, I will destroy you, and moreover, your crime is far greater than mine. A married woman having an affair with a rogue, that calls for being drowned in a pig cage! If you know what’s good for you, quietly hand over the silver, and I might still respect our sisterhood enough to keep your secret.”

This so-called sisterly affection was naturally worthless to Qiao Lianhua. She and Qiao Dalang had already agreed beforehand to use this as leverage to extort silver from Muniang. As for after obtaining the silver, she had no intention of letting her off so easily. She was determined to make sure the whole village knew, and it would be best if the village head actually drowned her in a pig cage!

Thinking this, Qiao Lianhua became smug. Qiao Muniang, you will ultimately die by my hands!

Expecting Muniang to be terrified and lose her composure, she was instead met with Muniang’s indifferent expression, leaving Qiao Lianhua uncertain as to what she was really thinking.

“You all are so ruthless. It looks like I really dare not refuse the silver,” Muniang casually put down the cup she was holding and slowly stood up.

Qiao Lianhua and Qiao Dalang felt a surge of joy.

But the next second, they were startled awake by a loud slap, shattering their sweet dream.

Without any reservation, Muniang slapped Qiao Lianhua across the face, and before Qiao Lianhua could recover, the second slap landed.

Having been struck by these two slaps, Qiao Lianhua finally reacted with a shrill scream, while Qiao Dalang went even further, rolling up his sleeves to lash out at Muniang. However, Muniang’s fighting skills were not something these people could overcome, and she kicked Qiao Dalang to the ground with one foot.

“Come here! Tie these two up!” Muniang’s cold voice rang out, filled with a sharp edge.

Qiao Lianhua shrieked, “Qiao Muniang, what do you think you’re doing? If you dare treat us like this, do you believe I won’t go out and expose your scandal with Wu Haoli right this moment?”

Qiao Muniang sneered coldly, her eyes as frosty as if they harbored a thousand years of ice: “The premise is that you can get out.”

The faces of Qiao Lianhua and Qiao Dalang turned pale at once, as if they sensed the chilling aura emanating from Muniang.

The servants flooded in and restrained the two of them.

Muniang watched them coldly: “What? You thought I didn’t know you were the one who ruined my embroidery room? Did you really think I was so easily deceived, that lightning just happened to strike my house by pure misfortune? Since you’ve taken this step, you should be well aware of the consequences of challenging my limits!”

Losing an embroidery room wasn’t a big deal, nor was losing ten thousand taels, but thinking how this incident almost cost the life of Er Liang, Muniang wished she could devour these two alive!
