Grand Voyage : Surviving on a Ghost Ship

Chapter 125 - Fire Liquor Recipe

Chapter 125 - Fire Liquor Recipe

Bang!

The gunshot was exceptionally loud, making Yang Yi’s eardrums sting.

Hundreds of pellets burst from the gun barrel in a fan shape, covering a ninety-degree angle in front of him.

The three large fire monkeys at the forefront took the brunt of the blast, their bodies riddled with bullets, erupting in splashes of blood.

Before they could even spew fire, they fell straight from the trees, their bodies twitching occasionally before going completely still.

The seven smaller macaques behind them followed suit, collapsing instantly, only five lucky ones survived due to their smaller size and more distant positions.

As the remaining monkeys witnessed their fallen companions, they were terrified and fled in a panic, running even faster than when they arrived.

Bang!

Yang Yi fired again, taking down another monkey, then let the rest escape without pursuit.

The shotgun mode was even more powerful than he had anticipated, making it especially effective against large groups of enemies.

Top-tier weapons truly lived up to their reputation!

Yang Yi spat out a few small black seeds from his mouth.

These were the seeds of the fire banana’s flesh.

It was his first time eating a banana-like fruit that contained seeds.

It seemed that, in the wild, bananas naturally had them.

Perhaps they could be cultivated.

He stored the seeds in his Worm Ring and walked over to the fire macaque corpses.

?Name: Fire Macaque?

?Description: A special type of macaque capable of spewing fire… Can be used in the Monster Vending Machine.?

As expected, the adult ones could be used for vending pulls.

However, given the flintlock gun’s superior range and firepower, they hadn’t even had the chance to showcase their abilities.

Yang Yi stored one of the more intact fire macaque corpses in his Stomach Pouch, while the other two were reserved for the vending machine.

As for the young macaques, they could be made into jerky.

He continued venturing deeper into the island, planning to explore it thoroughly to confirm there were no further threats before beginning deforestation.

Gunshots rang out from different parts of the island, each shot marking the death of a fire macaque.

In less than an hour, Yang Yi had exterminated all the monkeys.

A total of thirty-two, four of them fully grown, were packed and brought back to the ship.

However, he hadn’t found any treasure chests.

At least, there weren’t any on the fire banana trees.

But Yang Yi wasn’t in a hurry; once the trees were cut down, searching would be much easier.

He retrieved the monkey corpses from his Worm Ring and Stomach Pouch, setting aside one complete adult fire macaque for Suna. Since it was a fire-breathing creature, it held research value.

Yang Yi had no intention of taming the monkeys.

The creatures were highly disobedient, unlike dogs, which could be trained as hunting or working companions, loyal and reliable.

Moreover, they were omnivores. Though they preferred fruit, that didn’t mean they wouldn’t eat meat. In fact… they would even eat humans.

Yang Yi had found numerous fish bones in their nests, some of them charred, clear evidence that the fire macaques consumed meat and a considerable amount at that.

Returning to the deck, Yang Yi placed the three adult fire macaque corpses into the Octopus Vending Machine.

Gurgle, gurgle!

Three glowing spheres rolled out of the machine. Yang Yi picked them up one by one.

?Name: Fire Liquor Brewing Method?

?Type: Recipe?
?Quality: Excellent?
?Description: Upon use, learn the method of brewing Fire Liquor. Requires fire bananas, wooden barrels, water, and fire macaque digestive fluid.?

?Name: Fire Macaque Scarf?

?Type: Treasure?
?Quality: Excellent?
?Description: A scarf made from the tail of an adult fire macaque. Soft and comfortable, with exceptional warmth retention.?

?Name: Longevity Lighter?

?Type: Tool?
?Quality: Good?
?Description: An ultra-durable lighter, the best tool for setting fires. You’ll never have to worry about it running out of fuel in your lifetime!?

"So, the recipe came from the vending machine… and it actually requires this monkey’s digestive fluid?" Yang Yi was a bit surprised.

It seemed that the way rewards were obtained on the island had an element of randomness.

And the fact that he happened to get a lighter and a scarf only then… was honestly frustrating.

Putting away the rewards, Yang Yi turned his thoughts to the issue of brewing the liquor.

Normally, fermentation required yeast or starter cultures to provide microbial colonies.

But Fire Liquor was special, it seemed to require the gut flora and digestive enzymes from the fire macaque's digestive tract.

That wasn't too strange.

After all, even chew-fermented liquor existed.

The real problem was that Yang Yi had wiped out all the monkeys, making it difficult to collect digestive fluid.

He could extract some from the existing corpses, but that resource wasn’t renewable.

After pondering for a few seconds, Yang Yi decided to leave this problem to Suna. Hopefully, she could modify the recipe in some way.

He made his way to the witch’s laboratory.

At the moment, Suna was pouring molten material into molds to create weapons. The room was sweltering hot.

The mould she was using was based on a fine steel longsword she had on hand, allowing for a direct comparison between the two.

"Suna, I got the Fire Liquor recipe, but it requires the digestive fluid of the fire macaques.

And there are no more living monkeys on the island," Yang Yi said, somewhat frustrated.

Suna rolled her eyes at him. "Send me the recipe."

Yang Yi handed her the recipe item.

Suna used it instantly, gaining an immediate understanding of the Fire Liquor brewing process and techniques.

It wasn't too different from traditional brewing, except that fermentation required the fire macaque's digestive fluid, and distillation had to be carefully temperature-controlled to prevent the liquor from igniting.

She closed her eyes, mentally simulating the entire brewing process. Sweat beaded on her face, glistening slightly.

Yang Yi couldn’t help but stare for a moment, then quickly swallowed hard, silently warning himself.

That was close!

It seemed like the side effects of his werewolf path were acting up again!

He shifted his gaze away and focused on the now-cooled moulds.

"So, this is a weapon made from the Crystal Giant’s remains?"

As he spoke, Yang Yi opened the mould and pulled out the longsword inside.

?Name: Crude Crystalline Longsword?

?Type: Treasure?
?Quality: Good?
?Description: A longsword forged from a special crystalline material. Lightweight and easy to handle, its hardness rivals steel, though it lacks flexibility. Ideal for quick, continuous strikes. Currently unsharpened, its cutting power is mediocre, but once honed, its lethality will increase significantly. ?

Yang Yi gave it a few test swings. It felt great in the hand and would likely sell well.

Suna had finished her mental simulation and opened her eyes, just in time to see Yang Yi playing with the crystalline sword like a toy.

"How does it feel?" she asked.

"Not bad. We can use this material to craft all kinds of weapons and armour.

You handle the moulds, and I’ll take care of casting and refining the finished products," Yang Yi suggested.

There was a massive pile of crystalline material, more than enough to make several sets of weapons and armour.

Yang Yi envisioned a variety of weapon designs in his mind, intending to try them all.

Whether they’d be effective was another question entirely, because it wasn’t like he’d be the one using them.

But as for armour, there was no doubt it would be useful. The hardness alone was an advantage, and if it turned out to be too brittle… well, that would be the buyer’s problem. No refunds on his part.

After giving his instructions, Yang Yi wasted no time and returned to the island.

Now that all the dangerous creatures were gone, he planned to spend the next six hours cutting down as many trees as possible.

Of course, he wouldn’t be using an axe, he’d simply blast the trees at the base with his flintlock gun.

Since the gun required no reloading, it was far more efficient than chopping with an axe.

Although this method would yield slightly less wood per tree, efficiency was the priority.
