Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 793: Sea of White

Chapter 793: Sea of White

Kneeling before the graves of his parents, Adam was overwhelmed by sadness. When he recalled the times he had spent with them, he couldn't help but tear up again.

"Father, like I promised you… I have become a Magus," he said softly. "I've become a man who people look up to. I'm sure you would have been very proud of me."

He turned towards the grave on the right. His lips quivered and he continued, "Mother…."

Pearls of tears trickled down his cheeks, and he found it difficult to speak.

A long time later, he showed a radiant smile, "Mother, I… I've made lots of friends. They're people I can trust and rely on. If you were here… I'm sure you would have liked them."

Seeing his brother cry, even Valerian couldn't help but begin to sob. "Brother…"

Adam wiped his tears away and turned to Valerian. He gently lifted the young dragon by the shoulders and placed him on his lap.

He then turned to his parents' grave and chuckled, "This is Valerian and he's like my little brother. He may not look like it, but he's actually a dragon."

"Myu! I am a mighty dragon!" Valerian wiped his tears away. He introduced himself while puffing out his chest.

"You both need not worry because I, the great Valerian, will always protect him. He is my big brother, after all!"

Hearing the young dragon say such words, Adam felt his heart warm. He gave the little guy a tight hug and kissed him on the head.

"Val, do you want to see something exciting?"

"What? What?" Valerian looked up with curious eyes.

Adam weaved a series of hand seals as he explained, "I wanted Mother to see this spell first so I had never cast it before."

"A spell?" Valerian's eyes shone like the brightest of stars. "Show! Show!"

Adam smiled warmly. After he had finished weaving the physical component of the spell, a large magic circle covered the ground in a radius of over a hundred meters.

Then, white flowers started to gradually emerge from the ground before blooming under the splendor of the bright sun!

Valerian's eyes widened at such a beautiful sight. The field of white flowers reminded him of the field of lotuses that Adam had once created in his battle against the Gracie Patriarch.

These flowers were different, however. They radiated a warm and pleasant feeling, filling one's heart with...

Hope.

"What are these flowers?" Valerian reached out with his paw and gently touched the pristine white petals of one of the many flowers that grew before him.

Although the young dragon instinctively knew that it was an illusion, it felt so real to the touch. Not just that, he could also smell a fragrant aroma.

The illusion was no different from reality!

"Daffodils," Adam said with a reminiscent smile. "My mother's favorite flower."

He plucked one of the flowers growing before him and gazed at it with a gentle smile.

There were many problems plaguing him in his life at the moment.

Headmistress Godfrey had turned out to be someone who was working for his enemies.

The Cult of Bones was planning something heinous, and he still didn't know what it was.

His mentor, Berger, was still in the mountains, attempting to advance to the next rank. He didn't know what the outcome of that would be.

All these problems weighed down on his shoulders, each one heavier than the last. He had felt alone and helpless.

But after visiting his parents' grave and letting all his cooped-up emotions out, he finally felt… free. He felt light. He felt at ease.

The spirits of his deceased parents, wherever they may be, were proud of him—of what he had become. Adam knew that well.

He rose to his feet and stood before his parents' grave amidst the sea of daffodils. His back was straight and his shoulders wide.

His eyes flashed with a brilliant light, and he recited a beautiful poem.

"Standing amidst a sea of white,

"The sun sets proudly on my back.

"Its warmth, a whisper from the past,

"A voice I knew when days were dark.

"I hear my mother's voice once more.

"Soft as springtime's return.

"No matter how the darkness stays,

"The sun will rise, the cold will burn.

"So now I stand, and now I proclaim,

"Let all who listen know my name!

"Hardships strengthen resolve,

"Adversity builds character.

"Though today I walk through shadowed earth,

"Tomorrow I shall soar through the bright heavens.

"Mark this moment, mark it well.

"I vow upon both stone and bone.

"I shall become, by will alone,

"The greatest Magus the world has ever known!"

After spending some time beside his parents' grave, Adam finally called for the family to whom this land currently belonged.

He noticed that all four of them were standing in the distance, patiently waiting for him to finish.

The middle-aged man walked up to Adam and spoke meekly, "My Lord, there is something I wish to say…"

"Go ahead," Adam said with a faint smile.

He was in a much better mood now. He sat at the base of the oak tree, resting his back against the trunk.

Meanwhile, Valeiran had climbed the tree and was lazily lying down on one of the branches.

"My Lord…" The middle-aged man thought of the right words to speak, and then finally gathered the courage. "A few months ago, a group of people came here to visit your parents' grave."

Adam's eyes narrowed. "Were the Magi?"

"I'm not sure, my lord." The man shook his head. "But there were four of them, and all seemed to be wearing luxurious clothes."

Adam couldn't help but frown, thinking to himself, Who else would visit my parents' grave other than me? Who are these people?

Right at that moment, the man added, "One of them was a woman, my lord. And she even placed fresh flowers on the graves."

Adam's expression froze, and his body involuntarily trembled.

"This woman…" he began, his voice slightly shaky. "What color was her hair?"

The middle-aged man hadn't noticed the sudden change in Adam's expression or tone, but he truthfully answered.

"Red."
