Chapter 105 - 105 098 May I help you with anything
?Chapter 105: 098 May I help you with anything? Chapter 105: 098 May I help you with anything? Entering the hollow of the tree wasn’t something Lin An was in a hurry about.
The next day at work, he found his young boss, “Yesterday, when I was trying to practice the ‘Palm Flame’ witchcraft with the enchanted bracelet on, a wizard found me.”
“!!!” The young boss was clearly thrilled.
He paced excitedly around the office, “Did he tell you how to find the address of the ‘Crazy Male Witch’s Tree Hole’ headquarters?”
Lin An shook his head, gesturing with the bottle of ‘Master Fan’s Green Tea’ he brought, “He mentioned a very strange method to enter the hollow, involving drinking this beverage.”
“???” The young boss looked at him bewildered, indicating he couldn’t understand.
Lin An couldn’t understand either, since he hadn’t tried it yet.
“Quick, let’s try it out,” the young boss said excitedly, then after a while, he shook his head, “No, not here, we should go to that fake identity’s house we prepared for you!”
He drove Lin An in high spirits to the neighborhood, watching as Lin An donned the ‘shapeshifting armor,’ then layered it with the new suit of black clothes typical of the fake identity he was accustomed to wearing, watching him slowly transform into that person with social anxiety.
Watching as a black mask with swirling patterns appeared on his face.
Then, holding a basin from the bathroom filled with water, he sat on a chair, dipped his legs into it, and drank the beverage while silently chanting, ‘Crazy Male Witch’s Tree Hole… Crazy Male Witch’s Tree Hole… Crazy Male Witch’s Tree Hole…’
Suddenly, the young boss’s eyes widened in surprise. He approached and swallowed nervously, trying to reach out and touch Lin An.
Whoosh~
It was like a breeze had just brushed past.
A puff of smoke that had formed Lin An’s appearance dispersed.
Splash~
The half-drunk bottle of ‘Master Fan’s Green Tea’ fell to the floor, its contents spilling out recklessly.
The young boss quickly picked up the bottle, looked at the basin and the chair in front of him, and wondered if he too could enter using this method.
In the end, he touched his face and sighed.
“I’m so envious! An!”
He squatted aside, eagerly awaiting Lin An’s return, perhaps he could tell him what the Male Witch Organization was actually like.
Lin An’s sensation was quite unique.
As he chanted the words ‘Crazy Male Witch’s Tree Hole,’ he suddenly felt a pair of hands reach out from the water in the basin and yank him fiercely into the basin.
He instinctively wanted to struggle, but then he suddenly felt as if he’d fallen into a quiet, icy lake.
Damn!
I can’t swim!
Lin An flailed instinctively, and the preparations he had made started to take effect.
He engaged his spiritual energy to assist his brainpower, and quickly got self-rescue methods from short videos and forum posts he had seen in the past.
He began to try to relax, to let his limbs go loose, and gradually, he felt himself being buoyed to the surface by the lake water.
Bit by bit, he approached the surface and saw many intertwining tree roots. He quickly grabbed one and, finding leverage, climbed up towards the surface.
The tree trunk was soft but possessed an extreme supporting force, allowing Lin An to use it to roll over and climb onto the lake’s surface.
Looking up, there was no sky in sight. It seemed like an inverted lake, or perhaps a reflection of the lake below.
Between the two mirrored surfaces of water, there was an incredibly tall banyan tree that seemed even higher than the skyscrapers he’d seen in the city.
The aerial roots of the banyan tree hung down, weaving together to form a massive tree hollow not far away.
Lin An looked around but saw no other sign of life.
So he began to make his way towards the hollow.
The hollow was deep, and a blast of wind howled through it, making eerie noises as though there were demons or ghosts hidden within the passage.
After only a few steps, Lin An already felt his clothes being dried by the blowing wind.
Good thing I didn’t bring my phone, or it would have been doomed in such a gale.
He smacked his lips and continued to walk inside.
At the depth of the hollow there was nothing, just a quaint door, which Lin An pushed open, and suddenly a burst of noise assaulted his ears.
It was as if he had walked into a…
Mall?
Lin An blinked and stepped in, looking back to see that the quaint door of the hollow on this side appeared as an iron door of a mall, with a sign hanging on it that read—Quick Entry and Exit.
This seemed to indeed be a mall.
The layout was exactly like a mall, and looking up next to the elevator, it seemed to have four stories.
In the middle of the atrium hung a large light fixture shaped like an ornament, with writing illuminated on all sides—’Crazy Male Witch’s Tree Hole’.
There weren’t many people in the mall, occasionally one could see one or two masked figures passing by in the distance, but there were quite a few attendants in each shopfront, all of whom looked precisely alike.
They had the bodies of marionettes, with heads square and numbered with black paint.
As he approached, a few attendants quickly stood up straight and bowed, speaking in unison with a synthesized voice, “Greetings, honored Wizard, is there anything we can assist you with?”
As they all looked at him, various kinds of spiritual illusions appeared around him, making Lin An’s head spin.
Lin An raised an eyebrow, “My guide told me I need to register inside the hollow. Where do I go to register?”
The marionette-attendant closest to Lin An hurried over, “Wizard, you need to register at the ‘Silver Teahouse.’ I will take you there.”
Lin An nodded, “Thank you.”
Following behind the marionette, he curiously looked around, feeling that this place did not seem like the headquarters of Wizards; it was very different from the eerie feeling he had imagined.
There was nothing secretive or mystical about it.
Rather, these marionettes somewhat gave him the feeling of a Transcendent organization.
Only, these did not seem to be marionettes…
When they looked at him, clear spiritual illusions were produced.
These…
Lin An suddenly raised an eyebrow, could these be members from what Mr. Liu mentioned, the Mortal Aid Department?
The ‘Silver Teahouse’ was located in a small shop on the first floor, decorated in an ancient style with many marionettes dressed as old-timey servants, a towel draped over their shoulders.
A masked Wizard sat inside the shop, flipping through a book, waiting as a servile marionette refilled and poured his teapot. He then lifted the teacup, which seemingly without resistance, slipped into his mask.
Upon Lin An’s entry, the Wizard glanced over and continued with his book.
The marionette that led Lin An stepped forward to speak with one of the servants, and soon brought a marionette servant over, “Wizard, he will take you to register.”, and after backing away a few steps from Lin An, it turned and left.
Consequently, Lin An followed the marionette servant up a wooden staircase.
There was clearly some kind of spatial folding inside, as Lin An glanced up and noticed another staircase leading up from the tea house, which did not match the height of the floors in the mall.
Soon, they reached a room that looked like a bank office, with about ten tables, only three of which had marionettes behind them.
The office marionettes were dressed in dark blue, and one approached Lin An quickly, “Wizard, please sit here while I record some details for your registration.”
Just then, a marionette descended from the stairs above, its head bearing a distinctive number—UH001.
What was most extraordinary was the spiritual illusion this marionette presented.
A grey wolf with an injured neck and a missing ear!
“You!”
Lin An pointed at the marionette, “You, come here!”
The UH001 marionette hurried over, bowing servilely, “Respected Wizard, how may I serve you?”
Oh, yes—
Mr. Liu!
I want you to go die!
The corners of Lin An’s mouth curled slightly inside his mask.
