Chapter 906 906: Pride
Chapter 906 906: Pride
"You aren't going to change your strategy?" Seara asked when she found Rain.
"Yep, I want to play some mind games with the enemy and keep him on his toes until I have the means to kill him," Rain said. "Where is Sealyn?"
"She is already ahead, she understands that you need to stay hidden as much as possible," Seara explained.
Rain had the idea of providing a strategic advantage to Sealyn, intending to bolster her capabilities for the ongoing battle. However, a significant thing obstructed his plans: his limited understanding of Sealyn's combat style and abilities. While Rain was determined to support her, he lacked enough knowledge about her fighting techniques, strengths, and weaknesses.
This lack of insight into her combat methods hindered his ability to provide an effective trump card tailored to augment her prowess in battle… that was depressing, given that she was his daughter.
Despite the challenge, Rain recognized the importance of aiding Sealyn in the conflict against annoying adversaries like the dragons. He hoped she had sufficiently recovered from any previous exhaustion and injuries to fight at full capacity.
This could offer a valuable opportunity for Rain to gauge Sealyn's true strength, surpassing the confines of her known parameters and revealing the extent of her abilities when unleashed at their peak.
In any case, it looked like the dragons decided to attack in the middle of the afternoon since most of the sea warriors entered the ocean, but soon they split up into north and south… the enemy's forces wanted to split them up…
"Smart, but annoying…" Rain thought.
Seara waited to see what Sealyn and Seadrei would do and soon confirmed that they split up as well… one would command the northern forces and the other would defend the southern side. It would have been a lot easier to make that decision if the demi-humans had actually a force nearby to help them split the work.
"It looks like your friends are being forced to work their asses off to protect a land that isn't even theirs while the demi-humans sit back and relax without suffering losses," Nigel said.
Rain, in his habitual annoyance upon hearing Nigel's voice felt like punching him, but he was quite compelled to acknowledge his statement. Nigel's words struck a chord within Rain's mind, penetrating his frustrations and revealing an uncomfortable truth.
The sea folk, including Rain's friends and family, appeared to be regarded as mere pawns or disposable resources in the ongoing war against the dragons.
This revelation stirred a mixture of anger and concern within Rain. Despite his disdain for Nigel's intrusive remarks, Rain couldn't deny the unsettling reality that those he cared about were seemingly treated as expendable assets in the conflict. It ignited a spark of indignation within him, urging him to reevaluate the situation and consider a more protective stance toward everyone…
"I have to endure this for now… since this is their choice and Sealyn's choice as well," Rain thought while massaging his eyebrows.
"We are going to follow the empress," Seara declared to her guards.
Rain was among the guards so that he couldn't say anything, it was obvious that Seara would make that choice. The enemy's main target was Sealyn… However, the obvious thing to do was what the enemy wanted to and could prepare for that.
As Seara, Rain, and the guards made their way back to the ocean, Rain thought that it was crucial to their strategic approach to the looming conflict: the significance of asking critical questions from both their own side and the enemy's camp.
Understanding that warfare involved more than sheer physical might, Rain recognized the pivotal role of information and foresight in deciphering the impending actions of their enemies. To him, discerning the motives, intentions, and strategies of both sides was paramount in anticipating the enemy's movements.
With this strategic mindset firmly entrenched, Rain focused on eliciting the most pertinent queries from their own faction and the opposing forces. What they wanted was to repel the enemies, while the enemies wanted Sealyn dead and destroy the land of the demi-humans.
"The best way to do that would be by decreasing their strength… splitting their forces and forcing their commands not to support each other was the best option for the enemies," Rain thought.
Rain was almost certain that Iori was going to target Seadrei… but he couldn't risk Sealyn's safety to protect his father-in-law… that was the kind of strategy that someone who studied him would employ.
In that case… Rain only had one option, destroy the enemy's plan as fast as possible. It seemed that Seara also had similar thoughts since she led her squad way faster than before, and they reached Sealyn quite fast, just around the time the dragons appeared in the distance… the sea dragons.
"Well, it has been a while motherfuckers… considering that these retards are here, I wonder if Iori is here as well," Rain thought.
While Rain was thinking about that, the sea dragons formed a wall while they moved around up and down from one side to the other… their coordination was quite something… even more so when all of them began to use their suction powers all at once…
Sealyn was too tired to waste time with that kind of nonsense, so she charged without care toward the enemies while leaving her own guards behind.
People like Seadir and Van couldn't keep up with her at all, and it looked like the enemies imagined that she would act like that… because soon the movements of the water around the army started to get weird, and when Rain used Magic Eyes, he saw the Mirror dragons assuming a shape similar to the sea dragons and soon they began to swim around the area… and that surrounded the whole army.
"Just when you think that dragons can't become more annoying… they start to use tactics," Rain thought. "I guess some of them threw away their pride. Only the ice dragons didn't do that."
