Chapter 335 100: The Echoes of Fierce Fire
Chapter 335 100: The Echoes of Fierce Fire
Fen Tie Energy Headquarters.
Compared to the bustling atmosphere of the outskirts, this place was much colder and quieter, probably because of the stringent defenses, making the guards also affected by the atmosphere, speaking rarely.
Within the sturdy underground fortress, Brod looked at the various screens displaying images and information, occasionally connecting with regional leaders to adjust their actions; the rest was left to the group's commanders to handle on their own.
'The third mecha squadron has broken through Area A3, reaching Area A2, currently encountering a small number of enemy personnel intercepting, and are dealing with it.'
'Defensive point in Area B5 has been bombed, coming from the enemy's rear in Area B1, currently transferring personnel, searching for a suitable cover point.'
'The central commander has sent a request, hoping to use remote rockets from the rear to clear out the enemy's position at the Clock Tower C2.'
Various voices rose in succession, Brod handled them methodically, but at this moment he also felt fatigued, having been highly tense all day.
It seemed he must delegate authority to the front-line commanders for now; continuing on his own was not a wise move, he needed to save some energy.
With this thought, he called his adjutant, planning to rest for the day.
After removing the headset and leaning back in the chair to close his eyes momentarily, the conference room door slid open, light footsteps entering, not loud but quite noticeable in the empty and quiet room.
Was it the adjutant? Brod prepared to get up, but suddenly felt something was off; his adjutant's steps would never sound like this, so he abruptly opened his eyes, rolling off the chair to the side.
With agile hands, he drew the prepared pistol from under the desk. Brod somersaulted, then crouched on the ground aiming to shoot.
The whole process was smooth as flowing water, and the bullets did hit the figure in the room, but they didn't achieve the expected effect.
A pale blue barrier appeared in mid-air, bullets embedding into it, unable to proceed further, then the barrier shattered, and the bullets fell with it, making a rustling sound as they broke apart.
Behind the barrier stood a figure not particularly tall; she made no attempt to conceal her appearance, just standing there quietly, a hand lightly raised, a faint blue light sand emerging, drifting over like a breath, and Brod was frozen in place, turned into a rigid statue.
Looking around, the girl curiously surveyed the surroundings, then approached Brod, taking the gun from his hand and placing it aside.
"Are you the leader of Fen Tie Energy?" The girl's voice was crisp, like a mountain spring, clearly youthful, with a young beauty and softness.
"I am," Brod answered, stepping back a few paces as he could finally move again, frowning.
Although wary, the girl seemed to have no intention of killing him; for the moment, he did not want to provoke her and trigger any accidents.
"I'm very sorry for the sudden visit, but I have some thoughts I'd like to share with you," the girl spoke, sitting across the conference table, her gaze meeting the man in front of her.
"You can speak," Brod's mood softened, and he also sat back down.
"I wish for you to cease hostilities immediately and sit down with Black Hammer to negotiate, to then discuss the future within Lebyon."
"Cease hostilities?" Brod shook his head slightly.
"Ceasing hostilities isn't something we can just stop because we want to, miss. Don't be so naïve. Our current situation is like being on a chariot sliding into an abyss; unless one side completely falls, the chariot won't stop."
"The conflict won't end with a ceasefire; the current situation allows only for one industrial group within Lebyon to survive." If the other party's strength weren't so unpredictable, he wouldn't have the patience to explain all this.
"I know the reason for your conflict," the girl opposite wasn't surprised.
"The continuous decline of the Northern Second District has led to a shrinking market. As the remaining industrial groups, you are faced with excess production capacity. To survive, you need to eliminate your competitors, right?"
"Since you're aware, why then make such naïve suggestions?"
"Yes, quite naïve," the girl seemed to be lamenting to herself.
"Still, I'd like to try."
"Because, even if you defeat Black Hammer, the future will just be a slow death. The population of the Northern Second District cannot recover, and the Federation won't support you. In the end, you'd just be delaying the inevitable."
The dark-haired girl sat upright in her chair, her Dailan blue dress matching her blue eyes; although not tall, she exuded an aura of presence.
"And so what if that's the case, our group's affairs are none of your concern, young lady," Brod said with some annoyance as he had already contacted the guard forces using a button under the table.
Suddenly, the ceiling of the conference room opened, and one by one, soldiers in black and red exoskeleton armor dropped down. They aimed their rifles at the seated figure and fired continuously, while a dozen soldiers erected Blast-proof Shields to cover Brod's retreat.
After a burst of gunfire and smoke, the chair formerly in front of the conference table had been blown to bits, but there was no blood. Just as everyone was surprised, Brod's path of retreat was blocked again by that black-haired figure.
The girl now seemed much more formidable than before, her black hair reflecting in the light. With one hand slowly raised, a blue crystal solidified, forming a silver Sword Edge.
"Fire!" the guard captain ordered immediately, followed by another storm of metal bullets.
