Jing Haohao got out of bed and went downstairs to wash. As soon as she got downstairs, Nanny Lin guided her to the dining room. It was then that Jing Haohao realized there’s no sign of Liang Chen in the dining room. After sitting down, she couldn’t help but ask, “Didn’t he come back?”
“Mr. Chen? He came back last night, but he went out early in the morning, said he was going to the old house.”
Jing Haohao only let out an “Oh”, not saying anything else.
So he really did come back, but what exactly did he say to her?
During the meal, Jing Haohao kept spacing out. After eating, Nanny Lin gave her a thermometer. After confirming she didn’t have a fever, she assisted Jing Haohao with her medication.
Jing Haohao felt slightly better than yesterday, but she still felt light-headed so she laid back in bed, pulled up the covers, and prepared to sleep. But just as she was about to fall asleep, she suddenly remembered that she had not taken her morning-after pills after being intimate with Liang Chen two nights ago.
It has only been a little over thirty-six hours now, and the pills were meant for seventy-two-hour emergency contraception. Luckily, she was still within the time window.
Moving swiftly, Jing got out of bed and went to the water dispenser to pour herself a glass of water. She then set it on the bedside table and reached into the crevice between the bed and the wall where she usually stashed her pills.
However, after searching for a while, she couldn’t find the plastic bag. Jing Haohao frowned, moved the bedside table aside, then grabbed her phone and shone the light into the crevice. The sight of the bare space under the bed shocked her; there was nothing there.
Jing Haohao’s heart clenched. She blinked and looked again, and when she was sure it was empty, she slowly stood up, flashlight still in hand.
She always hid her pills there, and she had just taken one the other day. How could they suddenly be gone?
Putting down her flashlight, she moved the bedside table back in place and left her room, calling out for Nanny Lin. She asked, “Nanny Lin, did you clean my room in the last two days?”
Usually, Nanny Lin would do a thorough cleaning every two days. Could she have mistakenly thrown out the pills while cleaning?
“I didn’t want to disturb Miss Jing’s rest, so I haven’t cleaned recently.” After responding, Nanny Lin looked at Jing Haohao with a puzzled expression. “What’s wrong? Is there something unclean in your room?”
“No.” Jing Haohao shook her head, gave a slight smile, and said, “I can’t find my phone, so I was wondering if you might have picked it up while you were cleaning. I’ll go back and look again.”
Jing Haohao returned to her room, closed the door, and her face paled slightly. If it wasn’t Nanny Lin… it had to have been Liang Chen… Did he take her contraceptive pills and not intend to let her take them?
What could she do if she ended up pregnant from that night when she didn’t take the morning-after pill?
