?Chapter 458: Chapter 459 Happy Birthday (1)_1 Chapter 458: Chapter 459 Happy Birthday (1)_1 Almost all the goodies in the spicy pot had been picked out by Jing Haohao and Xian’er, leaving only a few greens, lotus root slices, and seaweed.

Jing Haohao had been living with Liang Chen for over half a year, and she knew his taste was very selective. He didn’t like lotus roots and seaweed, let alone the leftovers she and Xian’er had nibbled at. She couldn’t help feeling embarrassed and cautiously suggested, “Maybe you should order your own meal.”

“No need, this is fine.” Liang Chen picked up the chopsticks and noticed the almost untouched rice in front of Jing Haohao. He pulled the bowl over and began eating in hearty mouthfuls.

Liang Chen, who would usually throw his chopsticks at the sight of lotus root slices and seaweed at home, surprisingly sat there and devoured the leftovers in the pot, cleaning it out.

After he finished eating, he grabbed a napkin, wiped his mouth, and stood up to ask the waiter for the bill.

Exiting the restaurant, there was a hotel next door. Sensing the air, Xian’er tactfully excused herself and headed into the hotel first.

The night outside had completely set in, plunging the surroundings into darkness, except for the hotel’s lit-up fa?ade.

Liang Chen took out his car keys, started the car, and fetched a small round box. He handed it to Jing Haohao, “I noticed some red spots on your skin this afternoon. They must be heat rashes from sweating in the period costume. I was worried there wouldn’t be enough time to drive to Jiangshan City and back, so I bought this powder from a town up front. It may not be as good as the ones available in Jiangshan City, but it should help. After you shower tonight, remember to apply some. If it itches, don’t scratch. It could lead to an infection.”

The location of the Film and Television City was quite desolate, and even the small town nearby was, at minimum, an hour drive away. So, he had been out to buy her heat rash powder.

Jing Haohao looked at the small round box in Liang Chen’s palm and felt as if something was breaking apart, piece by piece, in the depths of her heart. She swallowed hard and, with slightly trembling fingers, reached into Liang Chen’s palm, picked up the box, inhaled deeply, then finally looked up at Liang Chen and faintly smiled, saying, “Thank you.”

Liang Chen didn’t say a word, only silently gazing at Jing Haohao. Just when she was about to remove the small box, he suddenly held onto the base a little tighter.

Jing Haohao stayed put, peering into Liang Chen’s eyes.

Neither of them spoke, only quietly looking at each other.

In the man’s eyes, reflected the multicolored neon lights of the hotel, continuously changing and swirlings, exceptionally beautiful. His gaze was attentive and serious, weaving some invisible yet untouchable emotions. Mysterious yet alluring. His eyes seemed to hold a magical power, drawing Jing Haohao helplessly into its depth, to the point where even her breath paused.

Only after a long while, Jing Haohao snapped back to reality, finally noticing that they were standing on the street, whilst she was gazing at him. She felt a flash of panic, then fought to keep her composure. Avoiding Liang Chen’s gaze, she lowered her eyes and said, “It’s getting late. I should go.”

After speaking, Jing Haohao forcefully grabbed the rash powder.

Liang Chen’s grip slightly tightened, then slowly slackened. He watched Jing Haohao snatch the small box out of his palm swiftly.

Jing Haohao, holding the small round box in her hand and looking at Liang Chen, said, “Goodbye.”
