?Chapter 640: Chapter 641 Sweet as Honey (3)_1 Chapter 640: Chapter 641 Sweet as Honey (3)_1 Jing Haohao, a woman buying men’s stuff, must definitely be planning to give it to someone…

But, who is it for?

Liang Chen, every so often, glanced in the rearview mirror, frequently looking at the paper bag on the back seat. Eventually, unable to resist, he put on an air of casual conversation and turned to glance at Jing Haohao, who was munching on dried fruit in the passenger seat, and asked, “You bought a lot of things shopping today.”

“Mmm.” Jing Haohao, engrossed in stuffing another piece of dried fruit into her mouth, didn’t realize the meaning behind Liang Chen’s words. All she did was chew indistinctly and nod her head, grunting in agreement.

“How long did you shop for?”

Jing Haohao paused in her chewing and tilted her head to think, “I got there just before noon.”

Only then did Liang Chen steer the conversation to the crux, asking, “You spent so long shopping at the supermarket?”

“No.” As Jing Haohao reached this point, she thought of the Christmas gift she’d bought for Liang Chen. A trace of a smile crossed her face as she said, “I spent all this time buying gifts.”

Gifts? Those items in the paper bag are gifts? Who is she planning to gift them to? Could it be him?

A slight nervousness started to stir in the pit of Liang Chen’s stomach. He was worried that Jing Haohao’s gift might not be for him. He swallowed hard, doing his best to steady his voice and asked, “What kind of gifts?”

Jing Haohao almost blurted out the word “shirt”. But, she then realized that if she told him now, there wouldn’t be any surprise when she gave it to him at Christmas.

All of a sudden, she turned to look at Liang Chen. She was about to say the word “secret” when she realized that Liang Chen was staring intently at the reflection of the paper bag containing the shirt in the rearview mirror.

From the corner of her eye, Jing Haohao could sort of guess what was going on in Liang Chen’s mind. She blinked, a mischievous glint in her eye, and quickly changed her approach, deliberately playing along with Liang Chen’s thoughts and replied, “Shirts.”

The bag contained shirts intended for personal wear, and Liang Chen was becoming increasingly agitated. However, externally, he put on a calm demeanor, acting as though he had no interest whatsoever in Jing Haohao’s gift. Nonchalantly, as he followed Jing Haohao’s train of thought, with neither warmth nor hostility in his voice, he asked, “How much did you spend?”

Jing Haohao’s eyes stayed fixed on Liang Chen. This man could be so roundabout; while clearly wanting to know who she’d bought the gift for, he insisted on asking such irrelevant questions.

Well, since he loved beating around the bush, she decided to play along. She was curious to see just how long he could hold out…

Jing Haohao’s eyes rolled thoughtfully. Pretending to be oblivious to Liang Chen’s frame of mind, she truthfully revealed the cost.

The six-figure price tag for a shirt was not surprising to Liang Chen, but for Jing Haohao, it was quite a fortune.

She was actually willing to spend so much money on a gift… Alone in his thoughts, Liang Chen felt a turmoil within him that he struggled hard to suppress. He acted nonchalant as he mentioned, “I quite like this brand of clothing — I have a few pieces at home.”

Jing Haohao nearly burst out laughing — the man, … usually so domineering and confident, now didn’t even have the courage to ask whom she intended the gift for?
