Chapter 2392: City Filled with Greed II

Since the Primordial Beast of Greed is not physically present inside of the formation, the influence that it could exude is not as prominent. The greed of the Immortals that wants the unbound teleportation scroll was redirected by Peridot to aid in their escape. Even if the teleportation scroll is valuable, the fact that Adrian's group is inside of a place filled with unstable and greedy Immortals does not change that.

Adrian and the others are hoping that they would be able to escape fast enough that the increasing greed of the Immortals does not overpower their logic or reasoning. The Immortals could still explode in greed and then start a bloodbath over the teleportation scroll. The plan to lure out the Primordial Beast of Sin was great, but it was too effective that it ran into complications.

"What are we going to do? Some of the Immortals basically stayed to make sure that we do not escape. The caster of this formation might not even be inside this place." Peridot stated.

"If that is the case then there are people that are not caught inside of the formation. Also, a formation as intricate and as large as this would definitely form a spatial aberration outside. If my hunch is correct, then the other Immortals that were watching us would have started to find ways to break it." Adrian replied as the guards of the alliance looked at him as they have yet to fully believe that he can talk.

"Do not worry because I will protect you." Levin Cloud stated as he tried to appear heroic but Adrian and Kabrakan just gave him a side eye.

"I will try and look for the core of the formation. I might not be able to attack but I can still traverse the shadow dimension for now." Adrian stated as he slowly sunk into the shadows.

As soon as Adrian vanished into the shadows, a sinister laugh echoed in the area which made all the Immortals shiver. A man with two bodyguards that are high level jiangshi suddenly appeared before them. The man did not look like an ordinary cultivator as his body is cloaked in a dark fog while being wrapped in bandages.

The only part of his body that is not wrapped in bandages is his mouth as even his eyes are shut tightly. The Immortals that were there could feel the immense yin energy that the man exudes, and they immediately knew that he was a corpse cultivator. An ordinary cultivator would not be able to stand near jiangshis that exudes such sharp yin energy.

"Who are you!?" The Immortals demanded as they do not know of a powerful corpse cultivator that can use powerful jiangshi that are in the Nascent Soul Stage.

"Who I am is not important. All of you will die here and become my beloved puppets. Such exquisite souls that can be twisted to my very own desires! Following him was the best thing that I could ever hope for! Kill them all, my puppets!" The corpse cultivator commanded.

Corpse Cultivators are not really taboo in the eastern continent as long as they do not commit crimes against ordinary people. If their puppets are created from Immortals, then it is fair game but any corpse cultivator that uses ordinary people will be hunted down. Although their reputation does not make them lots of friends, corpse cultivators are equivalent to necromancers as they can seek answers from the dead which a lot of people in the east really need sometimes.

The corpse cultivator in front of them is definitely not normal as the jiangshi it has are not the standard ones. The first jiangshi is that of a large brute that has six hands on his body. The Immortals that saw this jiangshi immediately labeled it as an Asura Jiangshi which is a top tier level undead. They also know that this jiangshi can only be made from the bodies of Soul Formation Stage.

The fact that the Asura Jiangshi before them is of the Nascent Soul stage is proof that the Immortals used as materials for this undead were Soul Formation experts. Jiangshi would usually exert power one class lower from the base material when they were alive.

The Asura Jiangshi is a powerful monstrosity that is said to have the strength to destroy hills. It could even destroy a mountain if it has been enhanced to the utmost degree. It also has skin as tough as diamonds if it has absorbed a lot of life force or energy from other cultivators. This meant that the Corpse Cultivator in front of them might actually be a Soul Formation stage Immortal.

The Immortals that were inside of the formation are wary of individuals that powerful because the highest cultivation they had was Nascent Soul stage. These Immortals would have given up on the teleportation scroll right there but the corpse cultivator in front of them wanted them dead. The dangerous entity that appeared did not want the scroll but wanted their life.

The Immortals there would have been confident if not for another Jiangshi that exuded the same pressure as the Asura Jiangshi. It was a jiangshi that has a female body covered in a beautiful flowy robe. This flowy robe would even touch the ground due to how long it is. This was another top tier undead that the Immortals know as the Elegant Jiangshi.

The Elegant Jiangshi also has a legendary tale as stories about it have been told since time immemorial. It is said that the first sighting of an Elegant Jiangshi was that of a beautiful concubine that was favored by an emperor. The queen was incredibly jealous of that concubine that she created a ploy to have the other concubines hate the favored one. The queen was successful which drove the other jealous concubine in killing the favored concubine.

The resentment and grudge of the favored concubine for having an unfair treatment came alive which transformed her into the very first Elegant Jiangshi. With a beautiful flowy dress that she was killed in, the Elegant Jiangshi slaughtered all of the concubines in the kingdom. She was even able to kill the queen that plotted the entire thing.

The Elegant Jiangshi then came to her beloved emperor with the head of the queen as a present. Instead of praising her, the emperor condemned her as a monster. She wanted to kill all those that plotted against her and she did, but her beloved emperor only saw her as a monster. If the emperor actually declared that she still loved her and felt sorry for her tragic passing, then she would have been given a chance by the heavens.

Instead, the one that she cherished the most has called her a monster. The Elegant Jiangshi became out of control as the last shred of humanity left from her was erased. She ended up killing the emperor as well, but she also perished in the process. Powerful Immortals that were the secret guard of that emperor managed to slay the Elegant Jiangshi, but it also left the imperial palace in ruins.

The story about the Elegant Jiangshi might be made up or might be based on true events but the people of the eastern continent always believed that stories always come from a true source. The legend about the Elegant Jiangshi might have been exaggerated but it did not hurt for them to be wary of the one before them.

"Are all of you scared? That should not be! If all of you are weak then you will not be good materials for my puppets." The Corpse Cultivator stated.

"Undead? I guess this would be my time to shine once again. Let me bless all of you since you will be protecting us anyways." Levin Cloud stated as he took out his pendulum and radiated a powerful divine aura.

The divine aura that Levin Cloud released covered the Immortals and shocked some of them. The ones he shocked were the ascetic Immortals that practice religion. They are very familiar with divine energy, but they have never seen one as pure as the one covering them now. The divine energy that Levin Cloud released is so potent that it activated the martial arts of the monks without them expending any energy.

"Troublesome. Kill him first." The Corpse Cultivator commanded as the Asura Jiangshi suddenly vanished from its location and suddenly appeared in front of Levin Cloud.

The Immortals are shocked at the speed of the Asura Jiangshi as they were unable to perceive it. The Asura Jiangshi used three of its large fists and coated it with energy and attacked Levin Cloud. A large explosion reverberated in the area, and it even made the ground shake.

"Now… to deal with my materials!" The Corpse Cultivator stated as he suddenly released numerous talismans that has Jiangshi at the Core Formation stage.

"Did you really think that would be enough to kill me?" Levin Cloud's voice suddenly resounded as the smoke cleared.
