Chapter 218 The Kind Are Bullied, The Good Horses Are Ridden (1st Update)
(PS: Drank too much at the banquet, only got up at noon, just finished writing a chapter, the next two will be late.)
"Did you just say you wanted to behead me, the Old Sun?"
With an evil smirk curling the corners of his mouth, Sun Wukong's hand suddenly exerted force in the gaze of the terrified Heavenly Soldier squad leader and pressed him down by the neck onto the ground.
With a loud boom, the ground shattered, and the Heavenly Soldier squad leader was smashed with his bones broken and muscles torn, blood spurting wildly, deeply embedded in the ground. His eyes rolled back as he passed out; being only at the Heavenly Immortal Realm, how could he possibly withstand Sun Wukong's strength?
The fact that he wasn't directly smashed into a pulp was already an act of mercy from Sun Wukong.
"I, Old Sun will say it one last time, go and tell the Queen Mother that I, Old Sun, want to see Zi Lan Fairy!"
Rising to his feet and slowly turning around, Sun Wukong was enveloped in a fierce aura, his gaze cold and ruthless, fixed on the several Heavenly Soldiers who were already scared silly.
"You, you dare to commit violence in the Jade Pool, you've got some nerve... ah!"
A trembling Heavenly Soldier lifted his hand to point at Sun Wukong, but before he could finish speaking, a booming cry and a scream filled the air; rocks flew in all directions as this Heavenly Soldier followed in the footsteps of the squad leader, his body mercilessly smashed into the ground, blood splattering and filling the formed crater.
Sun Wukong lifted his head, his gaze cold once more as he looked at the remaining few Heavenly Soldiers, who were now utterly cowed, no longer daring to utter harsh words. Didn't they see that those who did were already lying in pits, life and death unknown?
Sun Wukong's strike was too harsh; trying to use the excuse of not being allowed to commit violence in the sacred Jade Pool to restrain him was simply a fool's dream!
"We, we will report this immediately!"
Watching as two Heavenly Soldiers hurriedly ran toward the quarters, the remaining few wore faces colored with fear, their eyes constantly darting around. Sun Wukong's expression remained unchanged, still a face of stern harshness, but inwardly he chuckled.
In place of others who might tread on thin ice upon being appointed to the Heavenly Court, Sun Wukong was different. His past experiences taught him that as long as it wasn't too outrageous, Heavenly Court tended to downplay such incidents, and in Sun Wukong's view, his visit to the Heavenly Court was to feast on Peaches of Immortality and steal Golden Cores.
If he could steal Peaches of Immortality and Golden Cores, why not teach a lesson to those who were disrespectful to him?
The good are bullied, and the shrewd ridden; without showing some prowess, they all would think his title, the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, was but an empty title!
Sun Wukong was well aware of the Jade Emperor's intentions—grant him the nominal title of Great Sage Equalling Heaven, bind him within the Heavenly Palace to control him, and should he act improperly, capture him close by.
He had already seen this scheme in his previous life, knew it well, and also knew that as long as he didn't cross the Jade Emperor's bottom line, teaching someone a minor lesson was something the Jade Emperor wouldn't even spare the time to care about!
"Great Sage, the Queen Mother invites you to speak in the main hall."
The returning Heavenly Soldiers had been briefed, and one of the Queen Mother's maidservants came out, bowed to Sun Wukong, and led him toward the Queen Mother's quarters. She paid no mind to the two people smashed into the ground, life or death unknown.
Seeing this, the other Heavenly Soldiers didn't dare utter a word, burying their heads low, not daring to look at Sun Wukong, lest they provoke this perilous figure!
Inside the Queen Mother's quarters, she sat in the main hall, watching as Sun Wukong, led by the maid, entered and bowed profoundly.
"Sun Wukong, you dared to burst into my Jade Pond Water Pavilion and harm my guards. What audacity!"
The Queen Mother waved her hand to dismiss the maid, then swept her gaze over Sun Wukong and harrumphed coldly, her voice stern as she spoke.
"Queen Mother, calm your anger. I, Old Sun, didn't intend to cause trouble, but those blind fools attacked me, and I, Old Sun, had to defend myself. That's just my nature! You, being wise and just, would surely see right from wrong, wouldn't you?"
Sun Wukong chuckled, appearing to apologize to the Queen Mother, but his tone revealed a defiant streak, challenging her; if the Queen Mother insisted on pursuing this matter, it would make her seem lacking in wisdom and fairness, too petty indeed.
"You rascal, you certainly know how to spin words to your advantage!"
The Queen Mother laughed, perhaps because of her connection to Zi Lan Fairy, she naturally had a slight fondness for Sun Wukong.
Considering Zi Lan Fairy's discernment, she wouldn't fancy any ordinary mortal, and combined with the fact that the Ten Thousand Heavenly Soldiers and Generals had been defeated at Flower-Fruit Mountain, with the Jade Emperor having no choice but to placate Sun Wukong with the title of Great Sage Equalling Heaven, all made her quite curious about Sun Wukong. What sort of person was he?\\
Seeing Sun Wukong's dignified and proud demeanor, smart enough to employ rhetoric on her, he showed to be a clever person, indeed Zi Lan Fairy's taste was impeccable!
"The Queen Mother jests; these are all words from the heart! I often hear Zi Lan speak of you, saying you treat her as if she were your own daughter. I, Old Sun, thank you on behalf of Zi Lan!"
Sun Wukong solemnly bowed to the Queen Mother, and Zi Lan Fairy was doing well in the Heavenly Palace, thanks to the favor of the Queen Mother. Sun Wukong's bow truly came from the heart.
"Zi Lan serves as a maid in my palace and is also my most beloved girl. I'm even considering adopting her as my sworn daughter during the Peach Banquet, so I will accept this bow from you!"
The Queen Mother nodded and said, "Sun Wukong, I know you are proud and disdainful of restraint, but this is the Heavenly Court after all, and the Heavenly Court has its own rules. You cannot act entirely on your impulses here; otherwise, if you cause trouble, not only you will suffer."
"Queen Mother, are you threatening me?"
On hearing this, Sun Wukong's eyes narrowed slightly, and he looked meaningfully at the Queen Mother.
"It's not a threat, just a friendly reminder. It's up to you whether you listen or not!"
The Queen Mother stretched out her hand and pointed towards the corridor to the left of the main hall, saying, "I know you want to see Zi Lan; she is in the garden to the left. You can go find her yourself. Remember, you must not damage any plants in the garden; otherwise, I will hold you accountable!"
"Thank you, Queen Mother!"
Sun Wukong was very pleased, bowed again to the Queen Mother, and then turned to enter the corridor on the left. Soon he arrived at the garden the Queen Mother had mentioned. Zi Lan Fairy was picking herbs, likely to make sachets. Upon seeing Sun Wukong enter the garden, a look of surprise appeared on her face.
"Wukong, how did you get here?"
"What, can't I come to see you?"
Sun Wukong approached Zi Lan Fairy and hugged her gently, smiling, yet not smiling, as he watched her.
"Of course not!"
Zi Lan Fairy shook her head, "But this is the Jade Pool; it's the Queen Mother's residence. If you bust in like this and she blames us..."
"If I, Old Sun, come to see you, who dares to stop me? Who can stop me?"
Sun Wukong snorted lightly, exuding an air of dominance. "After all, I, the Great Sage Equalling Heaven, don't need anyone's permission to visit my own woman, do I?"
Seeing that Zi Lan Fairy still looked worried, Sun Wukong laughed, "Alright alright, I've already met with the Queen Mother earlier, and it was she who told me you were in this garden. You can stop worrying now, right?"
Only then did Zi Lan Fairy finally relax. Sun Wukong spent the afternoon with her in the garden, then said goodbye and left. Throughout, the Queen Mother did not appear again, nor did she let anyone disturb them, which greatly increased Sun Wukong's favorable impression of her.
It seemed the Queen Mother wasn't as difficult to deal with as the legends said, certainly much better than that old Jade Emperor!
After returning from the Jade Pool, Sun Wukong went back to the Naval Marshal's Mansion in the Heavenly River, retreated to his private house, and set up barriers to block external surveillance before he began brewing monkey wine.
Several gourds flew out of the Qiankun Bag, serving as containers for brewing the monkey wine. The next moment, batches of Peaches of Immortality flew out from the Qiankun Bag. Sun Wukong concentrated, and clusters of True Solar Fire enveloped the peaches, quickly turning them and their pits into squirming Spiritual Liquid, which flowed into the gourds.
Following the peaches, various Immortal Fruits picked from the Hundred Fruit Garden also flew out, becoming swirls of Spiritual Liquid under the refinement of the True Solar Fire, which were in turn funneled into each of the gourds. Sun Wukong's hands moved through a series of Dharma Decrees, imprinting each gourd with Dharma Seals.
The entire gourd emitted brilliant golden light, then suddenly all the light was absorbed back into the gourd, after which Sun Wukong stuffed the openings and took them all back into the Qiankun Bag.
From then on, it would be up to time to slowly brew the wine. Normally, it takes a year to brew a gourd of monkey wine in the Mortal Realm using ordinary spiritual fruits. However, this batch, made from Peaches of Immortality and various Immortal Fruits, naturally differed in effect, and it was likely that the brewing time would also be extended.
As for how much longer it would take, Sun Wukong could not be sure.
Your next journey awaits at My Virtual Library Empire
Over the next few days, Sun Wukong wandered around the Celestial Realm, visiting his subordinates from the nearly eight hundred Heavenly River Navy soldiers, to see how their training was going. Unlike before, these soldiers now regarded Sun Wukong with extreme respect, each of them looking at him with admiration and veneration.
Qin Feng had already told everyone that the cultivation method he taught them was imparted by Sun Wukong.
These Heavenly River Navy soldiers, all recruited from the Mortal Realm's cultivators, had no superior cultivation techniques to practice. Sun Wukong's eight hundred soldiers, relatively weaker in cultivation strength within the Heavenly River Navy and always marginalized in their original squadrons, thought they had been assigned to Sun Wukong's command as a form of exile.
Yet, unexpectedly, they had the chance to receive a superior-grade cultivation method like the Water Commanding Dharma. How could they not feel deeply grateful to Sun Wukong?
