Meanwhile, Sherlyn was welcomed by Ben, who soon guided her to Valeria's room.
The man seemed obnoxious, speaking briefly and with a professional tone that made Sherlyn cautious under his scrutinizing gaze.
"This way, ma'am," he said, slowly opening the door for her.
Sherlyn cast him a thoughtful look before stepping inside.
The room was eerily quiet, and her gaze immediately fell on the fragile woman sitting in one corner.
Valeria appeared distracted, barely acknowledging her surroundings or the people who entered her room. Something about that struck Sherlyn as odd.
"Hello, Miss Valeria. I'm Dr. Sherlyn," she introduced herself, but the woman didn't so much as blink.
Sherlyn exchanged an awkward glance with Ben, who remained unfazed.
"I would like to speak with the patient alone before starting the therapy session," she said, quickly brushing past her embarrassment and shifting into professional mode.
"But you were already informed about her condition. Why not start right away?" Ben interjected, trying to meddle.
Sherlyn shot him a pointed look. "For a doctor, it's necessary to build a good bond with the patient before treating them. No matter how much I know about her from paperwork, I'd still prefer to hear from her directly."
Ben was taken aback by Sherlyn's professional yet blunt tone. He was skeptical, but he also knew he couldn't interfere with the treatment, especially since the boss had already warned him not to interfere.
In the end, he decided to do as Sherlyn suggested and quickly vacated the room, leaving just the two of them.
Sherlyn breathed a sigh of relief, but she couldn't ignore the fact that they were under surveillance.
One thing Eveline had warned her about was not letting their true intentions slip, not even slightly. Yet, as she observed the woman before her, she wondered if she would be able to get anything out of her.
Still, she refused to give up and resolved to work on her.

"So that's the whole story?" Ella asked after Eveline finished explaining the meaning behind Michelle's words.
"I've already confirmed my suspicions, but I still don't understand why Jedrick would hire Sherlyn if he wanted to keep that woman hidden."
Ella pondered over Eveline's words. Then, something clicked.
"Do they have any connection? I mean, what if he's using her to gain something?" she suggested.
Eveline thought for a moment, and Ella's words seemed to hold some truth.
"But again, the question remains—why? Why would he do that, and what does he stand to gain?"
No matter how much Eveline tried to connect the dots, nothing seemed to make sense.
"I just hope that through this session, she manages to get something significant out of it," Eveline sighed, hoping for a positive outcome in return for the risks they had taken.

Later that evening, after Sherlyn returned, the first thing she did was call Eveline.
As distressed as her tone sounded, her words were even more troubling.
"She hardly spoke, Eveline. It's as if the woman has completely shut herself off. I doubt she even knows her own name," Sherlyn stated.
The entire day had been wasted—Valeria refused to say a single word. Sherlyn had known this case would be difficult, yet the lack of progress left her deeply disappointed.
Eveline listened carefully. "But she did talk to me back at the hospital. She asked me to save her."
Sherlyn fell silent for a moment, absorbing Eveline's words. But she couldn't ignore the possibility that trauma had triggered Valeria's panic.
"Maybe finding herself in a new place caused that initial panic attack," Sherlyn admitted. "But that wasn't the case this time. She was utterly silent—she wouldn't even spare me a glance."
Feeling helpless, Sherlyn slumped onto the couch, wondering how long she could keep up with this if Valeria refused to cooperate.
"I should've known this was going to be difficult," Eveline muttered, regretting that she had expected anything from this plan.
"You know that's not the case," Sherlyn dismissed her guilt with a sigh. "Even before you asked for my help, I was already looking forward to handling this case. So, stop blaming yourself."
Eveline remained quiet for a moment before asking, "By the way, are you going to talk to Uncle about this?"
"I wish I could, but your uncle isn't home yet. He's probably still busy working his ass off, thinking I'm not bothering him," Sherlyn joked, bringing a smile to Eveline's face.
"Don't worry, Eveline. I promise Kaden won't be pissed," she assured her.
Soon, they ended the call, and Sherlyn continued waiting for Kaden. She wondered what was taking him so long when all he had done these past few days was tail her.
"Don't forget you were the one who pushed him back to work," her subconscious reminded her.
"Yeah… whatever," she muttered in a displeased tone.
Just then, the door to her apartment clicked open, and there he was, walking inside.
Sherlyn quickly got up and rushed to Kaden. "What took you so long? You know I've been waiting for you."
His tired eyes suddenly sparkled with excitement, and without warning, he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer.
"Oh? So now you remember you have a boyfriend? Is that why you didn't call me even once today?" he teased.
Sherlyn smiled awkwardly. She had purposely avoided calling him—she needed to gather the courage to talk to him later that evening.
"I'm sorry, the session ran too long. I didn't get the time to check my phone," she apologized, hoping he'd let it slide.
"Apology accepted—for now. Because I didn't try to reach you either," he smirked.
The couple instantly made amends and walked further inside the house.
"You still haven't told me what took you so long at the base," she asked as they settled onto the couch.
Kaden looked exhausted—his entire aura screamed it.
"You remember I told you my purpose for coming here was to expose the biggest mafia organization?" he said, his eyes locking onto hers.
Sherlyn nodded thoughtfully.
Kaden let out a distressed sigh and said, "I always believed Jedrick's organization ran the underworld, but I was wrong."
Sherlyn's brows furrowed in confusion. "You think someone is helping him?"
Kaden didn't answer, but the knowing look in his eyes was enough to confirm her suspicion.
"Who could it be?" she asked.
"That's the mystery," he admitted. "Even after taking down most of Jedrick's illegal businesses, he's still managing to save his ass from getting detained."
Frustration was evident in Kaden's voice, but there was also a lingering helplessness—one that didn't go unnoticed by Sherlyn.
"What if I said I could help you?" she suddenly offered, seizing Kaden's attention.
His eyes snapped to her, completely taken aback by her words.
