Chapter 310: Yosolda Wakes Up
As they lay there, Adrian's hand began to stroke Chris's hair, his touch gentle and soothing. Chris's eyes fluttered closed, a contented sigh escaping her lips.
"Adrian," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
"Yes?" he replied, his voice low and husky.
"I'm so glad I met you," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "You've changed my life in so many ways. My family is well now, thanks to you. We don't have to struggle anymore."
Adrian's hand paused in its stroking motion, his eyes looking down at Chris with a mixture of surprise and pleasure. "No need to thank me for that, Chris," he said, his voice filled with a hint of embarrassment.
But Chris insisted, her voice growing stronger. "No, I need to thank you. You've done so much for me, for my family. We were struggling to make ends meet, but you... you changed everything. You gave us a chance to start anew."
Adrian's hand began to stroke her hair again, his touch gentle and soothing. "I'm just glad I could help," he said, his voice low and husky.
But Chris wasn't finished. She continued to talk, her voice filled with emotion. "I was so lost before I met you, Adrian. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. But you... you showed me that there's more to life than just existing. You showed me that I can be happy, that I can have a purpose."
As Chris talked, Adrian listened intently, his eyes never leaving hers. He could see the sincerity in her eyes, the gratitude that filled her heart.
And he felt his own heart swell with emotion, his love for her growing stronger with every passing moment.
As Chris continued to talk, her voice began to grow softer, her words becoming less coherent. Adrian could see the exhaustion in her eyes, the toll that their lovemaking had taken on her body.
But even as she drifted off to sleep, Chris's arms wrapped tightly around Adrian, holding him close. "I'm so glad I met you, Adrian," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Adrian smiled, his heart filled with love and affection. "I'm glad I met you too, Chris," he whispered back, his voice low and husky.
As Chris fell asleep, Adrian held her close, his arms wrapped tightly around her. He could feel her heart beating against his chest, her breathing slow and steady.
And in that moment, Adrian knew that he would never let her go. He would never let anyone hurt her, never let anyone take her away from him.
Chris was his, and he would do anything to protect her, to keep her safe.
As he held her close, Adrian felt a sense of peace wash over him, a sense of contentment that he had never felt before.
He knew that he had found his soulmate in Chris, his partner in every sense of the word.
And as he drifted off to sleep, Adrian knew that he would never let her go, that he would love her forever and always.
The next morning, Adrian and Chris were awoken by the sound of Christine's loud voice, shouting from outside their room. "Chris! Chris, wake up! Mom is awake! She's asking for you!"
Chris's eyes fluttered open, and she sat up in bed, rubbing her eyes. Adrian followed suit, and they both looked at each other, confused.
Christine's voice was loud and sobbing, filled with emotion. "Chris, please come! Mom is awake, and she wants to see you!"
Chris's face lit up with joy, and she threw off the covers, getting out of bed. Adrian followed her, and they both quickly got dressed.
As they exited the room, Christine was waiting for them, her eyes red and puffy from crying. "I'm so glad you're up," she said, her voice shaking with emotion. "Mom is awake, and she's asking for you, Chris."
Chris's eyes welled up with tears, and she hugged her sister tightly. "I'm so glad, Christine," she said, her voice muffled against her sister's shoulder.
Adrian smiled and put a hand on Chris's shoulder, leading her to the room where Yosolda was being kept.
As they entered the room, Chris's eyes widened with joy, seeing her mother lying in bed, a weak but loving smile on her face.
Yosolda's eyes sparkled with joy and love as she saw her daughter, and she weakly lifted her hand, beckoning Chris to come closer. Chris rushed to her side, taking her hand and holding it tightly.
"Mom," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "I'm so glad you're awake. I was so worried about you."
Yosolda's eyes welled up with tears, and she smiled weakly at her daughter. "I'm glad to see you too, Chris," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I was so worried about you and Christine. But I'm glad you're both safe now."
Adrian watched the reunion with a warm heart, happy to see Chris and her mother reunited. He could see the love and affection between them, and it filled him with a sense of joy and contentment.
As they hugged and cried, Christine joined in, wrapping her arms around her mother and sister. The three of them held each other tightly, filled with joy and love.
Yosolda's eyes sparkled with gratitude as she looked at Adrian. "Baron Everhart," she said, her voice weak but filled with respect and admiration.
"I don't know how to thank you and your mother for all that you've done for my family. You've taken us in and cared for us, and I'm forever in your debt."
Adrian smiled and shook his head. "No need to thank me, Aunt Yosolda," he said, his voice low and husky. "You're part of our family now, and we take care of our own."
Yosolda's eyes welled up with tears, and she nodded, her voice trembling with emotion.
"Thank you, Baron Everhart," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Thank you for being so kind and generous to us. It's out fortune to have you be this considerate to commoners like us."
