Chapter 339: Outrageous and Unreasonable
Chapter 339: Outrageous and Unreasonable
Xu Ping’an led Gu Lingyan towards the Tianxing Mountains.
Only upon entering the Heavenly Star Wasteland did Xu Ping’an truly feel the hustle and bustle of the place at the moment.
Currently, a large number of people had gathered in the Tianxing Mountains.
Although in the past, these areas had always been occupied by powerful demon beasts, most of those beasts had now either left or gone into hibernation.
Not for any other reason but because there were simply too many experts here now.
Soon, Xu Ping’an arrived at an entrance of the Heavenly Star Palace.
It was an enormous stone archway, both ancient and majestic.
Above the stone gate, there was also a powerful spatial energy fluctuation radiating.
Clearly, these stone doors each contained a miniature teleportation formation.
It could transport people from the outside into the interior of the Heavenly Star Palace.
"To think it’s a teleportation gate made from starry sky stone, quite the lavish expenditure. However, it’s clear that this stone gate teleportation formation is one-way. I wonder where the exit will be once we enter," Xu Ping’an muttered in surprise.
The stone gate was about seventy-two meters tall, and its width was approximately eighteen meters.
Though such a teleportation formation wasn’t considered large, it was certainly extremely expensive for some powers in the Spirit Realm.
"Indeed, even my family only has one of these teleportation formations, yet here in the Tianxing Mountains, there are as many as thirty-six. The Heavenly Star Daoist is truly formidable," Gu Lingyan also remarked.
Xu Ping’an turned towards Gu Lingyan in astonishment.
Realizing she had misspoken, Gu Lingyan quickly covered her mouth.
"Given that you come from a major power, why didn’t you come here with your sect elders?" Xu Ping’an curiously asked.
A power that could possess such a teleportation formation was definitely not a simple entity.
Such a force had to be at least at the level of small worlds like Heaven Beyond Heavens.
However, Xu Ping’an wasn’t eager to inquire into the woman’s true origins.
To him, where Gu Lingyan came from didn’t make much of a difference.
"My sect elders are also not participating in this opening of the Heavenly Star Palace; they have other matters to attend to and couldn’t leave," the woman said regretfully.
"What could be more important than the Heavenly Star Palace?" Xu Ping’an asked in surprise.
From what he currently understood, the importance of the Heavenly Star Palace was immense.
Not just some powers from the Heaven Beyond Heavens, but even the top five powers, as well as some forces from the Spirit Realm, would dispatch experts to the Lower Realm.
That’s why Xu Ping’an was so astonished at Gu Lingyan’s claim that her sect elders were preoccupied with other matters.
"Yes, it’s indeed vital, but I can’t discuss it," Gu Lingyan responded.
Xu Ping’an nodded, without the urge to delve into the matter further.
Xu Ping’an looked around once again.
At the entrance to this teleportation formation, there was now a group of people guarding it.
These individuals were not few in number, there were well over a hundred.
Half of them were of the Sixth Rank, while forty-four had reached the Seventh Rank, and there were even four at the Eighth Rank and two Ninth Rank Experts.
"So many powerful individuals?" Xu Ping’an frowned.
The number of experts guarding here was greater than he had imagined.
"These are people from the Heaven Beyond Heavens, likely a joint force formed by the Demon Cloud Heaven and the Mysterious Jade Heaven. Both are among the weaker Heavens in the lower thirty-six layers of the Heaven Beyond Heavens; the stronger Heavens don’t need to ally with other powers," Gu Lingyan said.
"You know this?" Xu Ping’an asked.
"Yes, I reviewed a lot of intelligence about the powers before coming here; I recognize their clothing and the aura of their cultivation techniques, which makes them easy to identify," Gu Lingyan said.
Xu Ping’an nodded.
The attires and cultivation techniques of the strong individuals from these large powers all followed a lineage, making them easy to recognize.
However, to be privy to such detailed intelligence on so many powers implied that Gu Lingyan’s backing was indeed very powerful.
"Courting death."
Just then, three Loose Cultivators of the Sixth Rank who had just stepped into the area were slain by a swift and fierce sword light before they could react.
The three died instantly, without a single chance to escape.
Seeing this scene, Xu Ping’an frowned.
They were indeed slaughtering some Loose Cultivators.
Many other Loose Cultivators were hidden in the dark corners around them, all of them furious at the sight.
These bastards were despicable, guarding the entrance like that, completely cutting off the hope of the Loose Cultivators.
"Their actions are really ruthless," Xu Ping’an couldn’t help but say with some emotion.
These three individuals obviously had no idea what was happening before they were killed, without even a warning.
This method could be described as extremely iron-blooded.
"It’s detestable; these three had weak strength, there was no need for such a multitude of Seventh Rank to kill them," Gu Lingyan said angrily.
Xu Ping’an, however, said nothing.
Were these people despicable?
Of course they were.
But the very act of competing for treasures in a place of opportunity was a case of the survival of the fittest.
They were just a bit more decisive in their actions.
Understanding this didn’t mean that Xu Ping’an approved of their methods.
But now wasn’t the time to judge their rights or wrongs; the most important thing was how to break in and get access to the Teleportation Formation.
With two Ninth Rank and four Eighth Rank, such combat power was not something he could barge into if he wished.
Gu Lingyan also realized the gravity of the situation.
"When the Teleportation Formation activates, there will surely be chaos around us, should we take that opportunity to break in?" Gu Lingyan suggested.
Xu Ping’an shook his head, "Even if it’s chaotic then, with so many experts, we might not get the chance, and I fear that the Ninth Rank Experts might be the last ones to enter. Moreover, I’m afraid they won’t leave us the opportunity to stay here much longer."
"What do you mean?" Gu Lingyan asked.
Xu Ping’an didn’t answer but looked ahead.
"Take action, kill them all."
Just then, from in front of the Teleportation Gate, an old voice rang out.
The next moment, more than a hundred experts all sprang into action, sweeping toward the surroundings.
"Ahhh..."
Suddenly, a string of gruesome cries erupted.
The Loose Cultivators hiding in the shadows all around were mercilessly slaughtered.
Gu Lingyan’s face drained of color.
A massacre?
These people were actually slaughtering the Loose Cultivators who were hiding in the shadows?
Wasn’t this too cruel?
Xu Ping’an wasn’t surprised, thanks to the Snow King’s warning, he had been mentally prepared.
These people were unlikely to let them keep hiding here, leaving a threat unchecked.
"No... you transgress the heavens and harm righteousness; you will suffer retribution,"
Some Loose Cultivators howled in fury and despair.
In just a brief moment, the number of Loose Cultivators dead around them had already exceeded three hundred.
Screams and the smell of blood filled the southeast corner of the Heavenly Star Mountain Range.
"Damn it, these people are too cruel, to monopolize the entrance to the Heavenly Star Palace, they’ve committed such outrageous atrocities," Gu Lingyan clenched her fists, cursing in anger.
Xu Ping’an’s expression changed, and he quickly said, "Let’s go, someone’s coming our way."
After speaking, Xu Ping’an immediately grabbed Gu Lingyan and retreated at high speed to the rear.
Just as they had left, a fierce sword light slashed at the spot where they had just been.
At the same time, two Seventh Rank Cultivators charged towards them.
