Before Mira could intervene, a man clad in warrior’s garb stepped forward and addressed the insolent youth. Rising to his feet with a stern voice, he warned the young man as he advanced—his imposing presence alone was enough to overwhelm him.

But the young man did not want to appear weak and submissive, so he slowly stood up, ready to confront the warrior, giving an almost cliche, ?And what’s it to you, old man??

That old man did not fall for the provocation, instead telling the young man to calm down, while placing his right hand on the young man’s shoulder and effortlessly pushing him back on his seat.

(Ohh, now that’s a capable man.)

The warrior stepping in allowed Mira’s anger to cool down, and she just took a step back as she watched what would happen between the two.

?Wh-what…?

Realizing how strong the warrior was, the young man’s voice grew weaker. His pride still burned in his contemptuous gaze, but he found himself unable to speak. Still, the warrior remained unbothered as he looked him straight in the eyes.

?Just listen to me. Try to not speak ill of summoners, at least until you leave this city. It’s for your own good.?

He spoke in a calm yet unyielding tone, though a flicker of fear lingered in his eyes.

?What, why? What do you mean??

Seeing that the warrior seemed to be genuinely concerned about him, the young man’s attitude began to soften, starting to listen instead of just raising his voice like a brat. He was also curious about the reason behind the warrior’s fear, so he looked at the warrior with round eyes.

In response, the warrior glanced around him warily, and then said, ?Put simply, there’s a summoner from the tower in the city right now.?

Those words sent a stir amongst the people there, and even Mira reacted.

(What did he say?)

‘Summoner from the tower’ referred to one of the mages of the Silver Linked Towers, and it made Mira wonder if they had discovered her real identity. But as the warrior spoke on, that worry melted away—replaced by growing terror among the onlookers.

He explained that the Silver Linked Towers housed the continent’s foremost researchers, spellcasters of unparalleled talent whose singular obsession with magic often left them oblivious to everyday social niceties. Given their deep devotion to their craft, it was not hard to imagine how enraged they would be if they heard the youth’s disrespectful comments.

?In the worst case, you’ll be turned into a test subject and disappear… Err, I might have said too much now…?

After saying all of that, the warrior began to tremble and looked around nervously, and by chance, his eyes locked with Mira’s.

That made him go pale as a chill ran down his spine. He was decently aware of higher level adventurers, so he knew what the Spirit Queen looked like, and realized Mira matched the description. On top of that, considering where she was standing, it was clear she had been able to hear everything he had said.

(I mean, I agree that a lot of them tend to forget everything that’s happening around them. But claiming they’re the kind of people to kidnap others is going too far. All I wanted was to scold him a little too.)

She really wanted to correct those statements, but she was also aware that thirty years had passed. There was a lot she did not know, so she could not rule out the possibility that it had happened in the past. So she just gave a smile and a light nod, allowing the warrior to continue.

He seemed relieved to see that, and then turned to face the young man again.

?Well, moving on. There’s a lot more to the world than you know, so don’t just jump to conclusions or say things carelessly. You never know where you’ll end up if you piss off the wrong person.?

He continued talking about how summoners were having a resurgence lately, and to be more careful.

?Okay, I get why you’re so scared. But this is summoners we’re talking about. I’ve heard they’re having a resurgence too, but the two I’ve met… I mean, I don’t think they’re anything special at all.?

There was a high barrier of entry to becoming a summoner, and even after starting, one had to train both oneself and one’s summons, making the path forward arduous and difficult. Because of those two reasons, there were very few young summoners.

The few who had superior skills were extremely rare even amongst summoners, and meeting one of those would be almost like a miracle, so it stood to reason that the two summoners the young man had met did not receive the best training.

That was why the young man had such a poor perception of them.

(Hmm… He’s so impertinent…)

Mira had been trying to improve things over at Arkite Academy lately, and she had managed to clean some of the bad reputation summoners had. But it would take a while before the summoners she had helped train would go out to the world, so all Mira could do was slouch her shoulders.

?Sure, but there’s a lot we don’t know about summoners yet, so you can’t really know what the more skilled ones are like.?

It was difficult for anyone unaware of the Silver Linked Towers’ formidable mages to grasp the gravity of the situation, but the warrior understood it perfectly.

?Let me put it this way, the conditions to enter the Silver Linked Towers are the same for all of them. In other words, whoever got in, is above a certain skill level. And the baseline of that is…hmm, say, do you know of a magician called Thunderclap Battleaxe??

?Of course I do, he’s that super famous adventurer who was recently promoted above Rank A. All adventurers know about him.?

When the warrior asked that, the young man replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world. It seemed like Thunderclap Battleaxe was really well known in the adventurer scene. But Mira, who was an A-rank adventurer, just muttered, ?Who is that…?

?If you know about him then this will be easier. Apparently, he once tried to enter the Tower of Magic, but was denied.?

?Are you serious…?
