Vol. 5 Ch. 43
When Rosvisser was pregnant with Muse, a six-winged dragonhawk once intruded into the Silver Dragon territory to steal a precious Jade Dew Dragon Fruit.
Enraged, Leon pursued and reclaimed the stolen fruit. However, he soon discovered the reason for the dragonhawk’s daring theft: it had risked its life to provide for its mate.
As a husband and father himself, Leon empathized with the dragonhawk’s desperation. Furthermore, he wanted to teach his eldest daughter an important lesson about respecting all intelligent beings.
Thus, he gifted one of the dragon fruits to the dragonhawk pair.
Leon had assumed this was a chance encounter, but little did he know, that same dragonhawk would one day save his life in a critical moment.
Gently stroking the feathers on its back, Leon said,
“My mentor’s wife once told me, ‘Good deeds always bring rewards.’ Looks like she was right.”
In truth, her words were closer to, “Do good without seeking reward.”
Leon, never one for lofty sentiments, had paraphrased them in his own way.
“Well, as long as the intent is noble, it’s all the same.”
He patted the dragonhawk’s head.
“Thanks. I’ll need your help once more. As long as I can fly, that thing doesn’t scare me.”
The six-winged dragonhawk let out a piercing cry before turning around and heading back toward the battlefield.
“That… is that a six-winged dragonhawk? But there aren’t any dragons near Flaming Valley. How could a dragonhawk show up here?”
Six-winged dragonhawks weren’t ordinary birds—they were dangerous creatures, Iron-Winged Greyhawks, that had evolved under the influence of draconic power.
This kind of evolution only occurred in areas with a strong draconic presence. Considering the scarcity of dragons, such creatures shouldn’t exist here.
