Su Kang let out a deep breath and shook his head.
With time, our bond will grow stronger. I should be grateful for what we have now, he told himself.
A self-deprecating laugh escaped him.
"I don't know whether to feel blessed... or a little bitter toward my newly married wife, who's already thinking about responsibilities instead of enjoying our honeymoon period."
Noticing his conflicted expression, Bai Yunxi’s gaze softened before a warm smile blossomed on her lips.
"You should feel blessed to have such an understanding wife like me," she teased, her voice light.
"But truly," she added, her eyes shining with quiet satisfaction, "I'm happy to be your first in everything. Your first love, your first woman… all with me."
"If anyone dares to bully me, I'll have the best bragging rights," she giggled, her laughter like the gentle chime of bells.
"This… How could anyone bully a genius like you?" Su Kang smiled helplessly.
"It’s more likely you’ll end up bullying me once you surpass me."
"Then you better take good care of me," she said, raising her small clenched fist in mock warning.
"If I ever feel you're neglecting me, I'll definitely make you pay."
"I understand," Su Kang chuckled.
"In fact, I’ll start immediately—by giving you a gift that every couple should have.”
Bai Yunxi tilted her head, curiosity flickering in her clear eyes. Without further words, Su Kang extended his spiritual consciousness, transferring a technique directly into her mind.
A stream of profound knowledge flowed into her consciousness—the intricate and detailed structure of the Heartfire Symphony of Twin Souls.
This was something he had exchanged for from Fate. Although Fate didn't possess many techniques, Su Kang had no choice but to take what was available at the time.
"It's a dual cultivation technique," he explained. "With it, your cultivation speed will soar."
Naturally, Fate hadn’t given him the full version of the technique, nor did Su Kang request it.
A complete version would have cost far more destiny, and he was content with these initial methods.
A faint blush colored Bai Yunxi's cheeks, but she nodded seriously.
"Good, then let's practice it."
That night, beneath the quiet, moonlit sky, Su Kang carefully guided Bai Yunxi into the profound mysteries of the Heartfire Symphony of Twin Souls.
The Heartfire Symphony of Twin Souls was a dual cultivation technique designed to harmonize Qi and soul energy between partners.
Fate had mentioned that its true potential would only reveal itself at higher realms, but Su Kang wasn’t interested in reaching that stage.
As partners advanced through the technique’s layers, they would gradually gain glimpses into each other’s emotions—a prospect Su Kang wished to avoid.
He preferred to keep his darker emotions locked away, suppressed beneath his calm and resilient heart.
Su Kang sat cross-legged across from Bai Yunxi, their knees almost touching.
“Draw your soul energy slowly,” he instructed, his voice low and calming.
Bai Yunxi closed her eyes, steadying her breath as her spiritual consciousness stirred, weaving into a delicate current.
"Now," Su Kang murmured, "reach out to me with your soul."
A faint shimmer pulsed in the space between them. Bai Yunxi’s heart fluttered as her spirit brushed against his. Instinctively, she found his rhythm, and the technique responded.
A thread of soul energy formed between them, gossamer and fragile. It was faint and delicate, but it was enough.
A wave of warmth unfurled within them, light and gentle. Each time they cultivated this art, they would need to form the soul thread anew.
In the silent room, the faint sound of fluttering clothes echoed as they leaned closer. Their breaths merged, heartbeats gradually synchronizing.
Qi flowed between them, delicate and warm, binding not just their bodies but weaving a subtle resonance between their souls.
The pleasure was not overwhelming, but rather a deep communion, a quiet intertwining that hinted at an unbreakable bond.
Bai Yunxi’s soft moans filled the room as Su Kang’s warmth and purer Qi entered her body, flowing through her meridians and strengthening her foundation.
....
The morning sunlight spilled through the window, casting a warm glow over the room.
Bai Yunxi slowly opened her eyes, her body feeling light and refreshed. A gentle warmth pulsed within her dantian, and her Qi flowed smoother than ever before.
She sat up, brushing her hair behind her ear, her delicate fingers resting lightly over her lower abdomen.
"So... this is the effect of Qi harmonization," she murmured, wonder threading her soft voice.
Beside her, Su Kang stirred, his sharp eyes flickering open. His mind felt sharper, clearer than usual.
It seemed the technique amplified the effects of her Spiritual Body, he mused.
He still hadn’t uncovered the truth about her body—whether it was truly a Spiritual Body or something else entirely.
Bai Yunxi caught his gaze and smiled, her cheeks flushing faintly.
"How are you feeling?" Su Kang asked, his voice calm.
"I feel better," she admitted softly. "My Qi... it’s flowing much more gently and steadily. I can feel some improvement in my foundation already."
Su Kang’s heart relaxed, a faint smile touching his lips.
"It seems the technique worked perfectly, even though it was just the first step."
During their practice, his Qi had subtly circulated through her meridians, refining and strengthening her core. The changes were small but significant—a steady path laid toward future breakthroughs.
Su Kang reached out, intertwining his fingers with hers.
"With this, you should reach the Foundation Building realm much faster."
A soft light bloomed in her eyes as she thought of her mother—imagining the day she could finally stand proudly as a Foundation Building cultivator and fulfill her father’s dreams.
Su Kang rose from the bed, gathering her into his arms with effortless strength.
"Let’s wash up. We still have a long road of cultivation ahead."
With those words, they made their way toward the hot springs.
….
Over the following days, the Su Manor settled into a familiar tranquility. The soft rustle of bamboo leaves mingled with the delicate fragrance of jasmine, carrying a sense of quiet harmony through the air.
In one of the guest halls, Zhu Zhihao sat in composed elegance atop a silk cushion.
Her crimson robes draped around her like flowing flames, and her violet eyes shimmered with quiet authority.
When Su Ting entered, the usual spark of mischief in his gaze dimmed, replaced by rare solemnity.
He bowed respectfully, hands clasped.
"Junior Su Ting greets Senior Zhu. It’s an honor to meet you."
Zhu Zhihao’s voice was smooth, carrying a melodic calmness that seemed to ease the very air around her.
"The honor is mine, Young Master Su. Mei’er speaks highly of you."
Her gaze flicked briefly to Yue Mei, who stood silently beside her, her crimson eyes lowered.
"Please, take a sit."
Su Ting followed her gesture and lowered himself onto the cushion across from her, keeping his back straight and composed, even as unease simmered beneath his calm facade.
So she is her aunt... Su Ting thought.
Zhu Zhihao’s gaze lingered on him, as if peering far beyond his surface.
"Mei’er carries a burden," she said softly. "And now, it seems you have been entangled in her fate as well."
Her voice held no accusation or approval—just quiet certainty.
Yue Mei’s fingers curled at her sides before she stepped forward, her voice low but steady.
"Su Ting... there’s something you deserve to know about me."
She had made her decision alongside her aunt. If he chose to walk away after learning the truth, she would accept it.
….
A few days later, the morning sun cast long shadows over the Su Manor’s training grounds.
Two figures clashed beneath its blazing light — Su Kang and Su Ting. Their bodies blurred as they exchanged blows, neither relying on inner Qi nor techniques—only the raw strength of their physiques.
Su Kang's strikes were sharp and precise, each movement forcing Su Ting closer to his limits.
Despite his lower cultivation, Su Ting gritted his teeth and retaliated with surprising ferocity.
Sweat soaked through his clothes, yet his eyes burned with unwavering determination.
“Faster!” Su Kang barked, catching Su Ting’s punch mid-air. “You want to protect her? Then push beyond your limits!”
Su Ting’s muscles screamed in pain as Su Kang’s fingers tightened around his wrist, but the thought of Yue Mei’s burden weighed heavier than any physical agony.
Su Kang saw the flicker of defiance in his brother’s eyes, and a trace of satisfaction passed through his stern gaze.
But kindness alone wouldn’t forge the edge Su Ting needed.
Without warning, Su Kang launched a punch toward Su Ting’s eyes. Reflexively, Su Ting flinched, shut his eyes, and tried to evade.
The blow struck his temple instead, sending him crashing to the ground.
“Work on your mentality,” Su Kang said coldly, stepping closer. “Closing your eyes in battle is a sign of weakness.”
He crouched beside him, voice low.
“You won’t be defeated by strength, but by cruelty. Life and death battles aren’t won by chivalry. They're won by those who survive.”
Su Ting’s skull throbbed, but he nodded, eyes burning with frustration at his helplessness.
He rose without hesitation, fists tightening.
Then he launched forward, fury and determination fueling every step.
