Chapter 152 - 152 147 Dont Mention This Name
?Chapter 152: Chapter 147: Don’t Mention This Name Chapter 152: Chapter 147: Don’t Mention This Name Red Demonic Spirit exclaimed, “She still got it!”
“Young man, where are you from?” Feng Niang asked, not bothering to exchange pleasantries. She took a seat opposite Ye Chen. Her mature charm was rather attractive. Most importantly, she was old enough to be Ye Chen’s mother, causing Ye Chen to be somewhat flustered.
Ye Chen replied, “Wasteland City.”
“So you ran away from home?” asked Feng Niang.
“Sort of.”
“Aren’t you afraid your folks might come looking for you!” Feng Niang picked up a handful of peanuts from the table to munch on.
Ye Chen replied, “I’m an orphan.”
“An orphan, you have no parents around, and you roam about freely?”
“Mhm.”
“Haven’t found a partner?”
“Too poor to do so, but I’d really like to. She doesn’t have to be that good. Most importantly, she must be mature, beautiful, and a bit older. That’s okay,” Red Demonic Spirit stated.
“I could be your mother.”
“I need someone to take care of me. Older women are better at that,” Red Demonic Spirit replied.
“You’re quite the joker, kid.”
Ye Chen chuckled.
Red Demonic Spirit giggled along too, whispering into Ye Chen’s mind, “I’ve started this off for you, now just tell her that you like her.”
“Where are you headed?” asked Feng Niang.
“I haven’t really decided, just going around aimlessly, broadening my horizons, hoping to find a wife.” Ye Chen asked, “Are you interested? Would you like to wander around with me?”
“I can’t afford that.”
“Is this your Inn?”
“Yes, do you like it?”
“I do. It has a classic feel that’s poetic. Now if only it had accommodations,” Ye Chen said, mustering his courage.
“Are you ready to eat?” Someone called Feng Niang over from across the room. Feng Niang stood up, saying, “We’ll talk more later,” giving his arm a pat before leaving.
As Feng Niang left, Red Demonic Spirit became even more excited, saying, “It’s inevitable. I can tell she’s attracted to you. Keep this up and you’ll certainly be successful.”
“That’s mischievous.”
“What’s mischievous about this? This is it. Absolutely perfect. This is what real women are like.”
“Heh, why don’t you find someone else? I simply can’t.”
“What do you mean you can’t? She’s clearly taken an interest in you.”
“But I’m not interested in her.”
“You don’t need to be interested. Just keep talking to her, got it?”
Ye Chen’s roasted chicken arrived quickly.
“I really love this type,” Red Demonic Spirit noted.
Ye Chen said, “If you’re so fond of her, why don’t I seduce her and leave the rest to you? Just leave me out of it.”
“You think you can really seduce her?”
“Yes, you’re like a python. No doubt, you’re going to scare her, seduce her, and then it’s your move.”
“Do you really consider me that despicable!” Red Demonic Spirit continued, “All I want is to have a good chat with her.”
“How about I choose someone else, you control them, then you two can have a good chat, how about that?”
“No, she’s just started taking an interest in you, she might not be interested in someone else.”
“She’s interested in me? You’re serious, I didn’t notice at all.”
More dishes were being served.
Red Demonic Spirit seemed entranced.
Ye Chen, starving, claimed a leg of chicken.
“Help me win her over,” Red Demonic Spirit requested.
“You’re joking, right? If I win her over, she’ll be mine, and she still won’t know you.”
“Then who do you want me to approach?”
“I don’t care.”
Just as the two were arguing, a large group of men swept into the Inn, drawing everyone’s attention and interrupting Ye Chen and Red Demonic Spirit’s argument. After a while, Ye Chen learned that the man leading the group was Jue Ming, who had brought some two hundred men with him. The courtyard outside was filled with people.
Ye Chen heard that Jue Ming hadn’t been seen in the Wastelands for many years, and now with so many men, he wondered what could have happened.
Feng Niang, the innkeeper, stepped forward to greet them. This was a big business opportunity, and she clearly needed to charm them.
However, Jue Ming seemed extremely wary and had no interest in engaging the innkeeper.
Someone mentioned in passing that the Wastelands were in chaos, and Jue Ming had even come out of hiding.
Ye Chen sipped his tea, observing the crowd below, and wondered, “It seems like something big is really happening.”
Red Demonic Spirit was sneakily watching Feng Niang, and said, “Whatever is happening, it’s none of your business. You securing Feng Niang should be your primary focus.”
“I’m afraid she might sneak into my room tonight, and things might escalate.” Ye Chen remembered her pat on his arm but wasn’t sure what that meant.
“In your dreams!”
Feng Niang was busy attending to the guests below.
“Could you chill out? Your eyes are almost popping out of your head. There are many bad guys here. You might attract unwanted attention, and they might capture you,” Ye Chen warned.
Red Demonic Spirit chuckled coldly, completely ignoring him.
He was truly captivated.
“If the people of Wasteland find out about your presence here, they might come to snatch you away. Stop staring! You’re drooling.”
Darkness fell quickly. Ye Chen gazed absentmindedly at the sky from his window. The stars in the sky were shining brighter.
Suddenly, several men dressed in black emerged surreptitiously, huddling in the courtyard below, seemingly discussing something. They were vigilant, frequently looking around. Ye Chen hurriedly hid from view. However, his ears remained focused on their conversation. The courtyard fell silent, and if one listened carefully, the conversation was still audible.
One of the men said, “Wei Sisan has stopped at the designated location. We will set off tonight, and after the third watch, we could attack them.”
Ye Chen spotted Jue Ming.
Jue Ming said, “Gua Zhengnie will ambush them from behind. We will attack them from both fronts.”
“Yes, there’s no way Wei Sisan can escape this time.”
Ye Chen was taken aback, having just heard that Wei Sisan was about to bring a band of people over to rescue Can Mo and the others. He muttered to himself, “It seems like a trap.”
The Red Demonic Spirit heard this too.
“Gua Zhengnie wants to kill Wei Sisan, I don’t think anyone from the New City Sect anticipated this,” Ye Chen muttered to himself.
Meanwhile, the conversation below continued.
Jue Ming said, “We must stay alert. We departure at midnight and arrive at the designated location by the third watch. We strike at the fourth watch.”
Shortly after, the black-clothed people retreated back into the room.
Ye Chen commented, “This is a high-stakes game of chess. No. One Thieves lures Wei Sisan out, while Gua Zhengnie teams up with Jue Ming to kill Wei Sisan. If their plan is successful, the Wastelands will descend into chaos.”
The Red Demonic Spirit asked, “What are you suggesting?”
“We ought to go there and check it out.”
“What is there to see?”
“Don’t stay fixated on Feng Niang, who’s just an older woman. I’ll find you a more enchanting one later.”
The Red Demonic Spirit responded with a cold smile.
As they were speaking, there was a knock at the door from outside. Ye Chen stood up and yelled, “Who’s there?”
“Who do you think?”
It was Feng Niang’s voice. Ye Chen shuddered and said, “Seems like there really is going to be trouble. At the third watch of the night, she’s trying to seduce me.”
“Why aren’t you hurrying to open the door?” the Red Demonic Spirit grew anxious.
“Why should I open the door?”
“Do what needs to be done, you’re not a child anymore.”
“Ha, you want me to just pounce and give in to my animal instincts.”
“Sure, why not? I want to see this.”
“So you have a fetish for watching, fantasizing about seeing us in the heat of battle. I would never do such a beastly act.”
“Aren’t you going to open the door?” the person outside asked.
“Hurry up, if you don’t answer the door, she’ll look down on you,” said Red Demonic Spirit.
“You’re a real pervert,” said Ye Chen.
The door creaked open. The woman held a jug of wine in her hand, already somewhat tipsy, also holding a cup, said, “Young man, accompany this old lady for a drink tonight.”
Red Demonic Spirit had already hidden himself, Ye Chen replied, “You don’t even know my name but you want me to accompany you for a drink. Aren’t you afraid that you’ll compromise your chastity tonight, not knowing the surname of your potential future child?”
“If I was afraid, I wouldn’t have come.”
“I’m the one afraid of compromising my chastity.”
With a Dragon Tail Swing, he closed the door behind him, and asked, “By the way, what’s your name?”
“Ye Chen.”
She swayed a little, the spark in her eyes could set any normal young boy aflame. But Ye Chen only thought about the words of the black-clothed people.
“You’re the owner of this inn, there must be many who’d accompany you for a drink. You can find anyone.”
“But not many are young men. I prefer drinking with younger men.” She sat down opposite Ye Chen.
Ye Chen was somewhat flustered. Feng Niang intentionally dressed loosely, almost revealing a shoulder.
“You seem a little anxious.”
Ye Chen shook his head and said, “I am not.” He wiped the sweat from his forehead.
“If you’re not nervous, then come and drink with me. Let’s skip the formalities,” Feng Niang said.
“I’m curious. You’re so beautiful, why haven’t you found someone to settle down with? Back when you were young, you must’ve had admirers lined up down the street. Why are you still alone now, did your husband pass away?”
“Damn, I’ve never been married.” She poured a cup of wine for Ye Chen and said, “Come, have a drink with me.”
“Not married at this age! I guess you must have missed out because of unrequited love.”
Feng Niang fell silent for a moment, then nodded and said, “You could say that.”
“Did he leave you or marry someone else?”
“Do you really want to know?”
“Yes, I really do. I want to see who the blind jerk is.”
“Then, drink this cup of wine with me first.”
“You really want to get drunk in my arms tonight.”
Feng Niang chuckled, “Don’t talk to me about that. None of that matters now, just drink with me.”
“Fine, if you don’t want to talk, then we’ll drink.” Ye Chen mustered his courage.
It wasn’t so much mustering up courage, as Red Demonic Spirit had begun gradually rousing him again, right at the brink of emerging, but he feared to scare her off.
“The inn’s lively tonight.”
“It’s been a long while since we’ve had so many guests.”
“Looks like your inn’s business isn’t too shabby.”
“Hmm, average. None of that’s important to me,” Feng Niang said.
“Then what is most important to you?”
While holding her wine cup, Feng Niang said, “Drinking. Being happy is the most important.”
“It seems like he hurt you deeply. Tell me who he is, and I’ll get back at him for you.”
At this, Feng Niang laughed, “You, a youngster barely eighteen, want to rectify this for me, you might end up getting spanked instead.”
“That’s hard to say. Someone like him needs to be taught a lesson.”
“His martial arts skills are very high.”
“How do you know my martial arts skills are not high.”
“You, a brat, how high can your martial arts skills be.”
“You’re really underestimating me. Wait and see, one day I’ll make my name shine across the Wastelands.”
“Shine across the Wastelands, how exactly?” Feng Niang was now visibly tipsy.
“Anyway, it’ll be more renowned than that of Wei Sisan.”
Once she heard this name, Feng Niang angrily said, “Don’t you dare mention that name, or I’ll lose my patience with you.”
