Chapter 198 - 198 192 Do You Want a Farewell Kiss

?Chapter 198: Chapter 192: Do You Want a Farewell Kiss? Chapter 198: Chapter 192: Do You Want a Farewell Kiss? Ye Chen instructed his men to eat and rest, knowing there wouldn’t be a chance for rest later that night. He planned to keep Ci Ye and the four evil spirits occupied all night, wearing them out with their own game of capture.

Before they knew it, it was midnight.

Around them, it suddenly became quiet. They split into several groups, intending to leave quietly. Making too much noise could alert others to their presence. They found a dense forest and had spent six hours thoroughly checking the surroundings before their departure. They made sure that there were no men left by Ci Ye in the woods. No torches were lit.

Ye Chen glanced around, the surroundings were pitch-dark.

“Let’s go, be careful along the way. If we manage to shake them off, we’ll find you as soon as possible,” he said.

Can Mo replied, “We will keep an eye on Yang Jing.”

“Lass, take care of yourself. Would you like a farewell kiss?”

“Go kiss a monkey.” Ling’er had already turned away.

“Let’s go, leave now. We’ll leave two hours after you. We need to keep a low profile. The Winged Dragon is patrolling in the sky. Once we leave this forest, we’ll be exposed,” said Ye Chen. “When the time comes, continue your journey only after we’ve drawn their attention.”

Can Mo understood what Ye Chen meant.

Ye Chen added, “Ok, be careful everyone. Don’t worry about us. If you can get away, do so as soon as possible. We’ll be fine. If they find out Yang Jing is not with us, they’ll be searching for you. Be careful.”

The forest was eerily quiet. Can Mo set off. Two hours later, sensing that the time was right and seeing no sign of discovery, Ye Chen decided it was beneficial that they hadn’t spotted Can Mo. He began to stir commotion purposefully on the right side of the mountain, acting as if he were trying to go unnoticed.

Er Gui quickly found Ci Ye and reported, “It’s not good, they’re trying to escape.”

“Escape. Really?” Ci Ye jumped up.

A disciple reported, “Yes, we saw them heading down the right side of the mountain, it seems they fear that we might discover them. They did not light any torches. Apparently, they’re afraid we’d find out, but we did.”

Er Gui said, “They’re definitely scared that we’ll surround them tomorrow. They’re trying to escape as fast as they can.”

Ci Ye ordered, “Quick, tell Da Gui to spring into action. We’ll sweep them up from both sides.”

His men rushed to action.

They came from both sides, moving swiftly.

They arrived at the spot where Ye Chen and his group were stationed.

Ye Chen acted as though they had been discovered, and as though they were rushing to escape. He made as much noise as possible, summoning the Beast, and using the fifty or so captured men decorated as disciples of the New City Sect. The hundred or so of them looked more like three or four hundred, and they seemed to be scrambling in a panic.

Ye Chen asked the disciple behind him, “Are those guys following us?”

“Yes, they are.”

“Ok, that’s good. We need to act quick, so they don’t see through our scheme.”

Li Mo understood Ye Chen’s meaning.

Ye Chen accelerated their pace.

Without bring torches in order to prevent the followers from discovering them sooner.

Da Gui and Ci Ye met, and Da Gui assured, “Ci Ye, don’t worry. They won’t be able to escape.”

Ci Ye ordered, “Deploy the Winged Dragon to attack them.”

Da Gui nodded, and a large number of Winged Dragons took off.

However, Ye Chen knew they wanted to trap him. They had chosen a forest, which could shield them from the prying eyes above and hinder the attacking dragons. The dragons might come in large numbers, but it was challenging to attack within the dense trees with their huge wings. It was nearly impossible for them to spread their wings easily.

Ye Chen ordered his men to spread out, trying to alarm as many animals in the forest as they could, trapping them like a large net.

Their noise soon attracted the dragons above. Ye Chen did not want to entangle with them; as long as they were distracted, it would work out well.

“Hurry up, don’t mind these creatures.”

Once they ran downhill, the path was less steep. Although it was a bit challenging, they could handle it. However, a group of monsters appeared. They had anticipated this and let out their own monsters to fight and bite. The monsters slowed them down, but not significantly. They were relieved about this.

Ling’er heard the rolling sound from afar, and thick smoke rose into the sky. She asked, “Has Ye Chen’s group been discovered?”

“It’s intentional,” a disciple replied.

“No one has discovered us yet, right?”

“Not for now. The Winged Dragons in the sky have been lured away by Ye Chen.”

Can Mo said, “Well, don’t just stand there, let’s hurry up.”

There was still some time before dawn. He had to seize this when the sky was not yet lit and the fog was thick, to make his escape and get as far away as possible.

Ye Chen couldn’t care less now, saying, “No more lingering in battle, let’s hurry up and leave.” After killing twenty or thirty big monsters, there were not so many left. The monsters that Ye Chen and his team had weren’t many, but they could basically hold up. Now, they just needed to focus on getting away as far as possible. As long as they had the people from Ci Ye by their side, Ling’er and others would be much safer — this was clear to Ye Chen.

“Go, everyone, let’s go quickly.”

Without realizing it, the sky had already started to lighten. He didn’t know how far they had run or where they were exactly, he only knew that they managed to get some quiet. But Ye Chen knew that the danger wasn’t over — it was just the calm before the storm.

Ye Chen had been running so hard that his hands got scratched but he was unaware.

But having run the whole night and fought for half the night, everyone was tired. Plus, the food they ate the night before was all digested, everyone needed rest.

Ye Chen called out, “All right, everyone, stop and take a rest. Eat something quickly. We can’t afford to make a fire.” He then beckoned to Li Mo, “Li Mo, do you know where we are?”

He pulled out the map, but whether he looked to the left or the right, it all looked the same to him: Forest after forest.

Li Mo called over two disciples who were familiar with the terrain.

The two disciples came over and quickly confirmed their location.

Li Mo asked, “Shall we circle back now?”

“No, it’s too risky. We shouldn’t rush to circle back so soon. That’ll put them in danger.”

Upon hearing this, Li Mo nodded.

Ye Chen said, “We should take them further.”

At this time, he was sure that they hadn’t been discovered yet, so he decided to draw them further away. The further these people were moved away, the safer Ling’er and the others would be, and the more time they would gain. But he knew, sooner or later, they would discover that not everyone, including Yang Jing, was there.

“Are we letting all these people go?” Li Mo asked, somewhat confused.

Ye Chen continued eating in silence, thinking it wasn’t a good idea to let them go just yet.

“Focus on eating for now. We’ll discuss this after we eat,” Ye Chen walked up to the captured subordinates of Yang Jing and said, “My brothers suggested that I should throw each of you into the river and drown you, to prevent you from harming others.”

Upon hearing this, they were dumbstruck. Some were shaking uncontrollably and some began to beg for mercy. Ye Chen continued, “You’ve all done so many bad things. I think that nine out of ten people in the Wastelands would want to drown you.”

Upon hearing this, they all fell to their knees and begged for mercy.

At this moment, someone came running over saying, “Not good, they’ve discovered us. They’re on their way here.”

“How long before they get here?” Ye Chen asked.

“They should be here in approximately four hours.”

Ye Chen nodded, it seemed like they had truly gotten themselves entangled. He glanced at the sky, then turned back and said, “Cut off their ropes.”

Li Mo whispered, “Are we letting them go?”

Ye Chen smirked, “I am not that foolish.”

The captives were listening intently to their conversation.

Ye Chen said, “If I let you go just like that, the people of the Wastelands wouldn’t agree. But if they didn’t get a chance, they wouldn’t be satisfied either. So, let’s leave it to fate.”

Ye Chen divided them into two groups and said, “This group, head to the left. The other group, to the right. You have an hour. You don’t have any Crystal Beasts nor weapons in your hands. After one hour, I will release the monsters. I don’t know who will get bitten and die then, but don’t blame me. If you really don’t want to die, you’d better start running. The farther you run, the safer you’ll be. Those left behind are sure to be doomed.”

They looked at each other, uncertain whether Ye Chen was telling the truth.

“You don’t believe that I will release the monsters, do you? You can find out for yourselves. After all, the ones who will be bitten to death are you. Your lives are in your own hands, I’d advise you to believe what I say.”

The captives started to panic.

Ye Chen watched as they stood there stunned.

“Not running, are you!”

Upon hearing this, regardless of whether it was true or not, they chose to believe it wasn’t a joke. They quickly split into two groups and ran into the forest.

“One hour, and I release the monsters. We’re not talking about just one here,” Ye Chen turned back to Li Mo and said, “Take some men and prepare to release the monsters. Pick some of the larger ones that still feel hungry.”

Rather willing to believe it was all real, they ran into the forests on both sides with some panic, and they were quite fast.

“Hurry up, those who are slow and get caught by the monsters, it’s not my problem.”

Li Mo was still looking at Ye Chen, unsure of what he meant.
