Scarlett Jennings was carefully wiping the bracelet she had finally gotten back from the Garrison Family when her phone, placed by the table, suddenly rang.
She saw the caller ID and was surprised to find it was a high school classmate she hadn’t contacted in a long time.
Scarlett Jennings answered the call and heard a slightly anxious voice on the other end, “Hey, Scarlett Garrison, it’s me. Are you in Sea City now? I had a car accident and I’m in the hospital, plus my family has frozen my card, can you come over and help me pay a bill? Please.”
Scarlett Jennings didn’t say anything and just listened to the person on the other end.
That end seemed a bit guilty, “We were classmates, don’t tell me you’re not even going to help with this? Hello? Scarlett Garrison, are you still listening?”
