Researcher A grabbed Cherry’s outstretched hand, still dazed, and got to his feet.

The two people standing before him were none other than Cherry Sinclair and Ethan Duncan Lancaster.

Just like Arthur, Cherry was supposed to be confined inside the Experimental Tower. Soon, she was meant to enter the Mahithilde Arena.

Under their protection, Researcher A was led to a safer location.

"He went to retrieve the cure."

"I thought the cure was in the hospital."

"The research was conducted here, in the Experimental Tower."

"Will he be okay with just Ezra? Neither of them are particularly strong."

"We’re short on hands, so we don’t have much of a choice."

Researcher A listened to their conversation in a daze, staggering forward as the two of them carved a path through the endless swarm of monsters.

They seemed far too calm for the situation.

"I can’t find Aurora anywhere, no matter where I look. My father must have taken her."

"Did he leave already? Or is he still somewhere inside?"

Cherry turned her gaze to the tightly shut castle gate.

When the virus outbreak had started, someone had intentionally closed the gate, locking the citizens inside.

People who had managed to flee as far as the gate were now hammering against it, screaming for someone to let them out.

But their efforts were in vain.

One by one, they were devoured by the creatures.

"This is bad. We’re running out of time. I already sent signals to our reinforcements outside the city walls."

Cherry muttered, her voice tight with urgency.
