Chapter 129 - 129 124 Thats Good This Round Isnt a Loss_3
?Chapter 129: Chapter 124: That’s Good, This Round Isn’t a Loss_3 Chapter 129: Chapter 124: That’s Good, This Round Isn’t a Loss_3 For the first time, Shen Jinghe detested his celebrity status.
After finally breaking through the siege and driving away in his car, he had no clue where he was now.
After finding a place to park, Shen Jinghe immediately took out his phone.
Wenyan’s phone was unreachable, and with no other options left, he reluctantly opened the family group chat called “Family Joy.”
There were several Shen Family group chats, but “Family Joy” was the one with the most complete attendance.
However, this group was always quiet, basically with no one talking.
He had never sent any message in this group before.
But today, he had no choice but to initiate a conversation.
“Does anyone know where Wenyan went tonight?”
No sooner had he sent this message than someone in the group replied.
It was Su Yang.
“I heard from Sister Zhang that there was a dinner engagement, seems like it was with a producer. What’s the matter, are you looking for Yanyan for something?”
“Yeah, Mom, can you ask Sister Zhang if she knows where she and that producer had planned to meet?”
“Is it that urgent? Well, wait a minute, I’ll go ask.”
During the agonizing wait, even a few seconds felt like an eternity.
Fortunately, Su Yang was quick, and soon she sent a voice message.
With a hopeful heart, Shen Jinghe immediately opened the voice message.
Unfortunately, the content of the voice message disappointed him. Sister Zhang also had no idea where Wenyan had gone; Wenyan had not disclosed the location of the dinner.
Later, Su Yang asked another question in the group, but Shen Jinghe was already too anxious to care.
Before accepting the invitation, Wenyan had specifically sought his advice. If something had really happened to her this time… Just the thought made Shen Jinghe feel a tightness in his chest.
Once again, he dialed Wenyan’s phone number.
Thankfully, just when he thought no one would pick up again, there was suddenly a voice on the other end of the line.
But, it was not Wenyan’s voice.
–
Meanwhile.
Hospital.
Given that Wenyan was still recuperating with an IV drip and was not suited for prolonged conversation, the police did not take her statement, but instead had a brief chat with Shen Jingchuan.
Shen Jingchuan also learned some information from the police and left his contact details, promising to bring Wenyan to the public security bureau once she was feeling a bit better.
When the police left, they handed Shen Jingchuan a bag that was supposedly Wenyan’s.
They had also found a phone at the Tea Garden, which had fallen from Wenyan’s person according to surveillance footage, and hence it was placed inside Wenyan’s bag.
After thanking the officer, Shen Jingchuan took the bag to Wenyan’s hospital room.
At this moment, Wenyan wanted to cry but had no tears.
Due to the overuse of pepper spray, she now had a swollen mouth that resembled that of a sausage.
If it wasn’t for Shen Jingchuan getting her a face mask, she would have refused to poke her head out from under the covers.
Because her entire mouth and tongue were swollen, she had difficulty speaking clearly, and she would dribble whenever she opened her mouth.
Whimpering, she felt this situation was too difficult to bear.
Seeing Shen Jingchuan enter, she hurriedly gestured toward the bag in his hand.
“Did you find my phone?”
“…” Shen Jingchuan felt as if his tongue were swollen just listening to her, “Never mind, don’t talk. Your phone is inside, do you need to use it now?”
Wenyan nodded hastily.
Shen Jingchuan handed her the bag, and the moment she opened it, she saw that there was an incoming call on the phone.
It was Shen Jinghe calling.
But she couldn’t speak right now, so she could only hand the phone to Shen Jingchuan.
She pointed at the phone screen, motioning for Shen Jingchuan to answer for her.
Shen Jingchuan frowned, unhappy, “Hang up, text him. I’m not talking to him.”
“For why?” Just as she opened her mouth, saliva drooped out, which made Wenyan quickly shut her mouth, scrambling for tissue and a new face mask.
Seeing her frantically and clumsily handling the situation, Shen Jingchuan was reluctant but still took her phone.
The moment he slid across the answer button, Shen Jingchuan felt like a mute.
Thinking of Shen Jinghe, it seemed he hadn’t spoken with him for quite a while, and it felt awkward just to start a conversation.
But saying nothing felt even more awkward.
“Hello, speak,” he grunted, after much thought.
“Who’s this?” Shen Jinghe on the other end of the phone didn’t recognize his voice at all.
“I’m Shen Jingchuan.”
“Is Wenyan with you?”
“Otherwise, why would I have her phone? What do you need her for?”
“Put her on the phone.”
“She can’t, she’s lying in a hospital bed.”
“Hospital?? What happened? What’s going on, which hospital are you at? Give me the address.”
Shen Jingchuan rolled his eyes in annoyance; why did he have to give his location just because he was asked?
But then he looked back at Wenyan’s pitiful state and begrudgingly relayed the information.
