Chapter 303 - 303 211_2
?Chapter 303: Chapter 211_2 Chapter 303: Chapter 211_2 “No.” Although Wenyan never deliberately hid things from her family and friends, this time she lied.
After all, she had no intention of getting involved in the matter anymore, so there was even less reason to let others know and worry about it.
She did have some understanding of her eldest brother, Shen Jingxiu.
He was the type who seemed cold on the outside but warm on the inside, appearing indifferent, but if a younger sibling was ever in trouble or faced difficulty, he would not stand by idly.
So Wenyan chose to steer the conversation away from the topic.
“How about you two, have you talked everything through and reached an agreement?”
Jiang Wanwan nodded, “We’ve pretty much finished talking. Thank you.”
“Oh,” Wenyan waved her hand, “True friends don’t stand on ceremony. To celebrate your successful chat, why don’t we all have dinner together tonight? It’s about time anyway. If we drive home now, we’ll hit dinnertime exactly. How about you just come with me to our place?”
“But…” Jiang Wanwan hesitated, “Would that be convenient?”
“Of course! It’s been quiet at home recently, my parents are abroad, it’s just me and my elder brother, too quiet. The food stays warm even after everyone has eaten.”
However, after saying this, Wenyan realized she had spoken too quickly and had forgotten to ask for Shen Jingxiu’s opinion.
She smiled at him and said, “Right, Big Brother?”
Having a good friend over for dinner would make her happy, so Shen Jingxiu had no objections.
He nodded and turned to Jiang Wanwan, “You’re welcome at our house.”
Jiang Wanwan looked at them both and chuckled, “Thank you.”
To anyone who didn’t know, they might have looked like a hospitable couple rather than siblings.
On the way back, Wenyan instructed Sister Zhang to add a few of Jiang Wanwan’s favorite dishes to the meal.
As a result, by the time they got home, a table full of delicious and fragrant dinner was ready.
Even though Shen Jingxiu and Jiang Wanwan were usually not very talkative, the atmosphere was always lively with Wenyan around.
After an enjoyable dinner, Wenyan invited Jiang Wanwan to see her room.
A good friend at home—how could she not invite her to lie down on her soft bed and chat for a while?
“Your room is very cozy, like a little princess’s quarters.”
“Right? I really like these warm tones.” Mainly because her tastes in room decoration coincided with the original owner’s. She hadn’t really made any major changes since she arrived.
“What about you? What’s the style of your room?”
“Umm… if I had to say, it would be minimalist.”
“That must be quite stark, isn’t it?”
“Stark?” Side by side on the bed, Jiang Wanwan turned to Wenyan with a smile, “I thought you would say ‘lonely,’ but you flipped the words around.”
“What’s so surprising about that? It’s just like you—a cool beauty. If you ever feel too lonely, just CALL me anytime; my phone’s on 24 hours a day.”
“What’s the use? You can’t pick up during work anyway.”
“Well, that’s true. But you’re no less busy than me. Now that you’ve settled things with my elder brother, what are your plans for work? Do you have any arrangements?”
“I do. I might have to go abroad for over a month for a shoot with a crew. So we may not see each other for a while. What about you? Do you have any plans, or maybe you’d like to join me?”
“Not at the moment. Actually, a few shows approached me during my last project, but I didn’t find any of them challenging, so I turned them down.”
“You mean variety shows? I had pretty much the same thought…”
As they talked about work, they found much common ground. Before they knew it, night had fully settled in.
In the study, Shen Jingxiu had not heard any sign of Jiang Wanwan leaving. He had intended to talk to Wenyan about that Wen Chengcai matter, but he never found the chance.
Because, as it turned out, Jiang Wanwan simply stayed the night.
But he needed to get up early the next day to catch an international flight for a business trip abroad, so he settled for sending Wenyan a message.
He told her to get in touch with him first thing if she encountered any difficulties.
By the time Wenyan saw the message, it was already the next day after she’d sent Jiang Wanwan off.
She didn’t dwell on the reminders about difficulties; she just knew that Shen Jingxiu was abroad on a business trip, Shen Jinghe had gone out of town for filming, and Shen Jingchuan was also abroad on business. Now, in this house, she was the only one left.
