He had more of a reason to be angry with her but he wasn't. She was keeping something from him. He turned to look at her but she still had her back to him.

Jael sighed and closed his eyes, it would be a hassle to fall asleep in his current mood. However, he knew better than to try to force this any further as he knows he would likely get angrier.

It took a while for her to fall asleep. She didn't roll, didn't move, just looked away from him for over three hours before she eventually fell asleep.

Jael got out of bed about an hour after sunset. He didn't get out earlier because the house wouldn't be awake yet.

He pulled the string as he got out of bed and the servants immediately brought up his water and he washed up but Mauve didn't stir.

That might also be because he was trying his best not to wake her up. She didn't sleep until late last night. He wanted her to get enough rest.

He ran his hand through his hair, he felt terrible and the lack of sleep would most likely affect him for most of the night.
