Mauve woke up to Jael looking down at her with a smug look on his face. Her eyes widened and he kissed her forehead.

"You're finally awake," he said and pulled away.

She blinked, still a little disoriented. She rubbed her eyes as she tried to sit up. "How long have you been awake?" She asked with a yawn.

"A while," he whispered, still staring at her.

Mauve turned away from his gaze. She was certain she looked like a mess, her hair was all over the place and she was sure she had eye goop, she could feel how crusty her eyes were.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" She asked, fiddling with her hair as she tried to make it less of a mess.

"I think we've had this conversation before so you should know why," he smirked and rolled out of the bed.

Mauve's eyes widened as she was greeted with his pale profile. She caught herself staring and turned away before he turned his gaze back to her.

"Mill should be here soon," he replied as he walked to the wardrobe. "I told her I'll take care of your bath."

"Okay," Mauve said, still adjusting her hair.

She was dressed in one of her night clothes. Considering she had fallen asleep before the bath was over, it could only mean Jael had helped her dress up.

She smiled at the thought of it, vaguely remembering what she had heard last night. She turned to look at him only to see him staring at her with an odd look on his face.
