The second meal ended and Mauve was back in the study but this time around she was alone reading the letters.

Jael did follow her back to his study but he left almost immediately. He didn't say why and she didn't ask.

She leaned back on his seat and she tried to relax a little. She would get back to work in a few minutes but for now, she needed to rest a little, just for a little while.

She stretched both her arms forward, trying to ease up the muscles. She should probably stand up and walk around but since she just came into the study about half an hour ago, there was no need to walk around just yet.

Mauve heard it and immediately sat upright. It was a soft knock. It was so low she would have missed it if she wasn't paying attention.

She didn't know if she should respond and tell whoever was at the door, Jael wasn't here but for all she knew it might be a vampire that hated her guts so she sealed her lips and resumed reading the letter with the hopes that whoever was behind the door would take the hint and leave. They didn't.
