Having turned down Bennett’s “academic salon,” Lucien headed straight back to his cabin, ready to make use of the time aboard the airship to continue his studies on alchemy.

“Lucien, Mentor!” Just then, Carly came looking for him and discussed with Lucien how a few Second-level Wizard Apprentices were planning to form a self-preservation group.

“Self-preservation?” Lucien couldn’t help but find it somewhat amusing. However, seeing Carly’s expression of having accomplished something significant, he smiled but said no more.

Seeing Lucien’s somewhat perfunctory attitude, Carly felt a bit dejected, sensing that things were not going quite as she had imagined.

“Carly, you need to understand something,” Lucien said, his expression turning serious, “Those Second-level Wizard Apprentices’ mentors probably already know about their little schemes, and they’re just not being pursued by Bennett and Lilia for now.”

“Just like us Third-level Wizard Apprentices being sent on this mission, how could the formal wizards of the academy committee possibly be unaware of our dissatisfaction?” Lucien sighed softly, “But they don’t care. As far as they’re concerned, as long as we do their bidding, that’s enough.”
