Miss Indulgence chuckled a few times, waved at the two Shadow Hand thieves who delivered the supplies for her and they retreated a few steps, disappearing into the darkness.

When she felt they had moved a good distance away, she quietly asked Catherine, “What exactly is your mission?

Tell me, let’s see if there is chance for cooperation.

I promise to keep it a secret.”

“You can keep a secret?” Catherine looked at Miss Indulgence with a frown.

“The Shadow Hand’s reputation isn’t exactly trustworthy when it comes to confidentiality.”

“I can swear to the assassin god Famira that, regardless of whether we can cooperate or not, I will keep it a secret and not interfere with your mission.” Miss Indulgence lost her earlier playfulness, and solemnly made this promise.

Catherine glanced at Pannis, seeking his opinion with her gaze.

Pannis nonchalantly said, “She is actually a thief, passion is the real assassin.”

“Haha, you found out.” The seriousness on Indulgence’s face vanished like magic, she covered her mouth and giggled before saying, “Damn it, Passion, that asshole, must have told you all our secrets.

I must give her a good ‘lecture’ when I get back.

Ok, ok, this time I vow on Passion’s name to the God of Assassins that whether we cooperate or not, I’ll definitely keep your mission secret and won’t interfere.

If I break this promise, the curse should be upon her.”

Upon hearing this even more inappropriate oath, Catherine frowned again and glanced at Pannis.

Pannis simply shrugged and stared at the dark rock wall as if he could see something interesting on it.

Catherine understood Pannis’s intention.

He obviously thought this oath was reliable, but he didn’t want to take responsibility.

So she said, “Well, I don’t understand why, but the oath seems reliable.

Alright, our mission is to locate a secret place.”

“A secret place?” Miss Indulgence appeared to have an idea, “In the Frost Realm?”

“We’re not sure, but Pannis thinks it’s possible, so we want to investigate.” Catherine explained.

“Let me think, let me think…” Miss Indulgence stood there pondering, one hand on her hips, unconsciously posing in a seductive ‘S’ shape.

The seductive power of her movements made anyone who saw her want to devour her.

“Hey, do you really need to be so exaggerated?” Lina, who had been silent all this time, had unknowingly shifted to her rarely-seen mesmerizing personality and was radiating an astonishing allure.

But next to Miss Indulgence, whose every strand of hair could seduce men, Lina seemed completely ordinary and unnoticed, she couldn’t help but protest, “It’s just a question, you don’t need to strike such a pose!”

“Huh?

Haha, little sister is envious.” Miss Indulgence smiled mischievously, her bright eyes twinkling at Lina.

She lightly touched her own voluptuous chest and said, “Don’t worry, darling, when you grow up a little more, you’ll be just as charming as me.

Remember, just a little bit more.”

“Ah, I can’t take this, I’m going back.” Lina, driven to the brink of madness, pulled out another book and hastily opened it.

As she flipped through each page, she became calmer and more composed.

By the time she finished, she had regained her usual stoic demeanor, her voice flat and devoid of any emotion, “Stop wasting time, what did you figure out?”

Taken aback by Lina’s sudden change of personality, Miss Indulgence knocked her forehead in consternation, ignored Lina, and said to Catherine, “The secret place you’re looking for should be a human-built structure that’s at least a few hundred years old, right?”

Catherine’s expression instantly changed, “You know?”

Seeing Catherine’s reaction confirmed her guess, and Miss Indulgence stated the girl’s’ goal outright: “The research facility.

Right?”

“So you do know.” Realizing her expression had given away their destination, Catherine no longer tried to hide it.

“Yes, our target is that research facility.”

“Let’s make a deal.” Miss Indulgence suggested thoughtfully.

“You can propose your terms, but I can’t guarantee that I will accept this deal.” Catherine replied noncommittally, “If it’s too dangerous, I won’t agree to it.

I can’t put my companions at risk for a transaction.”

“You won’t be in any danger.” Miss Indulgence glanced at Pannis and gritted her teeth, “I don’t want my sworn-brother holding a grudge against me over this.”

“Okay.” Catherine nodded, “Let’s hear your proposal.”

“Our mission is to retrieve something, I suggest we collaborate.

You help me complete my mission, and I’ll provide information about the research facility.” Miss Indulgence presented her proposal.

“You are also of Legendary Rank,” Catherine expressed her confusion, “Why don’t you kill the magical beast yourself?”

“I can’t beat it,” Miss Indulgence replied simply.

“My attacks can barely penetrate its skin; it’s too hard.

Its defense alone is near the peak of legendary.

If its attack power wasn’t so low, it would have dominated this cave a long time ago.”

“Then how do you want us to help?” asked Catherine.

Indulgence began outlining her plan: “I’ll draw it away, and you guys go in and find my quest item.”

“What about your two subordinates?” Catherine asked, “With them around, we wouldn’t need to assist.

You distract the giant python, and they can go in and fetch the items.”

“I don’t trust them.” Indulgence sneered, “In the Shadow Hand Guild, Passion is the only one I can trust.

If I let them find the items, I guarantee that the moment they find them, they would run back to the Neutral Land and pledge the items to other top-tier executives in the guild for greater benefits.”

“And you trust me?” Catherine found it hard to believe Indulgence’s reasoning, “You don’t even know me.”

“Heh, you underestimate your own reputation.” Indulgence smirked and said, “Catherine K.

Field, the leader of Nellie’s adventure team in the City of Knowledge, a zealous knight devoting herself to the legacy of the hero Nellie, and a gold-rank professional who strictly adheres to the knight’s code.

If I can’t trust even you, there wouldn’t be anyone left to trust.”

“Damnit, the reputation of our head sister’s stubbornness has already been spreading,” Vivian discreetly complained to Lina.

“Stop it.

We’re discussing serious issues here,” Catherine turned around and rebuked, then she turned back to Indulgence, “So what are you looking for?”

“An energy crystal.” Indulgence added, “A demonic energy crystal from the demonized giant python.”

“Are you joking?” Catherine exclaimed, “That’s the most vital part of a magical creature, similar to the crystal core of a magic beast.

They grow inside the creatures, how can you possibly find one in a cave?”

“This demonized giant python is different.” Indulgence stated seriously,”These giant-sized creatures often condense more than one Demonic Energy Crystal in their bodies.

Sometimes, these demonic crystals form in their stomachs, interfering with their ability to eat.

In such cases, they would vomit out the crystals and reabsorb the demonic energy contained within over several years.

That’s the case with this giant python, it vomited out a crystal last year, and it should still be around.”

“So, we just have to go in, find it, and take it?” Catherine confirmed, “Not doing anything else?”

“This is for you.” Indulgence took out a triple-layered box, which was intricately engraved with arrays both on the inside and outside, “It can prevent the leakage of the demonic energy for ten days.

As long as you find the crystal, you can put it in this box.”

“Alright, then I…”

“You’re not actually thinking of agreeing, are you?” Pannis couldn’t stand idly by any longer and interrupted Catherine, “Have you ever seen a demonic energy crystal?”

“No.” Catherine admitted, quite straightforwardly.

“You?” Pannis asked Indulgence the same question.

“Neither have I.” Indulgence also admitted straightforwardly, “Demonic crystals are too rare.

Unless they’re naturally discharged like this, all the crystals inside a magical creature will dissipate rapidly upon its death, making it impossible to obtain them by slaying the creatures.

Even the naturally discharged ones can only be preserved for five years at most using the best methods.

So, as you can see, the only undissipated crystal in existence today is the one you’re looking at.

This is the second one.

The other one has always been in the possession of a demigod who is enthusiastic about research; I am not qualified to see it.”

“This must be the only one now.

The one who commissioned your Shadow Hand Guild is probably the owner of the other crystal, which must have already dissipated.

That’s why they’re looking for new materials, otherwise nobody would want such a dangerous and useless object.” Pannis looked at Catherine and Indulgence, “Since none of you have seen it before, don’t just make plans based on your imagination.

A demonic crystal quite literally increases the concentration of the surrounding demonic energy to a terrifying level.

Catherine, with your three gold-rank abilities, you shouldn’t touch it or even get too close, as you’ll get polluted.

Even if you aren’t demonized, you will be seriously ill afterwards.

Among all of us here, the one qualified to get close and retrieve the crystal is Miss Indulgence.”

“So, what do we do now?” Indulgence was taken aback, realizing that she had clearly underestimated the power of the demonic energy crystal, “How about you draw it away and I’ll go fetch it?

No, that won’t work.

The level difference is too big, it would be hard for you to successfully distract it.”

“I think we could try.” Lina suggested in a cool and aloof tone, “We have three gold-rank and one silver-rank individuals.

We stand a chance if we only aim to distract the beast.”

“No.” Catherine objected, “It’s too risky.

Don’t overestimate the power of the legendary rank.”

“Alright, alright, stop arguing.” Pannis impatiently interjected, “The two of you, go in with Indulgence.

In case anything happens, you can help each other out, just try not to get too close to the crystal.

I’ll go distract the demonized giant python.”

“No.” Catherine shook her head vehemently, “That’s too dangerous for you.

If we are going, we should go together.”

“Go together?” Pannis revealed a perplexed smile, “Do you know the way?

Can you move silently?

Can you navigate freely in the dark?

Do you know which routes lead to death and which can be taken?

Do you know where we can shake it off and where we can slow it down?”

Seeing the speechless girls, Pannis shook his head, “Alright, I will go ahead.

Don’t worry, I won’t die.

After you hear the sound, wait a few minutes before going in.

When you get the stuff, wait for me in the nearby small Spore Forest.

Miss Indulgence, I assume you know the way?”

“Rest assured, I do know the way.” Excited at the prospect of completing the task, Indulgence beamed at Pannis, “Good luck, young man, and may we have a successful partnership.”
