Chapter 106: Chapter 106: The Appearance of the Slender Ghost Shadow
?
"Father Andrew, Father Andrew, something terrible has happened." A boy hurriedly approached.
Qin Muye had been in this place for three days already, and his deeds of killing the perverted murderer outside the town and pulling out the Pumpkin Head Evil Spirit had long since spread throughout Akman Town.
In the past two days, many curious people had come to see, and after confirmation, the townspeople's admiration for Qin Muye naturally reached its peak.
"What's wrong? If there's an incident, you should call the police, why come to me?" Qin Muye stood up and looked at the boy before him. In such a situation, why come to him if there was really trouble? Calling the police was the logical thing to do.
The middle-aged man gasped for breath, "Father, it's awful, Katie has been taken away by the Thin Shadow Ghost."
"???" Qin Muye was utterly confused. Were the town's terrifying ghosts so brazen? The Pumpkin Head Evil Spirit had just been hung up not long ago, and now this Thin Shadow Ghost dared to make an appearance.
He vaguely recalled the Thin Shadow Ghost, which was a city legend from his past life. It was said to be a tall creature that liked to snatch children.
They were usually lured into the forest and killed.
"Are you sure? Is there any chance that this Katie might have just run away from home? You should've called the police, not come to me. After all, getting the Law Enforcers involved would be a better way to find her," Qin Muye advised.
He felt there was a high possibility it was the Thin Shadow Ghost, but who knows? Maybe this guy was tricking him.
"No, it's true. I saw Katie being taken away by the Thin Shadow Ghost with my own eyes." The boy's voice carried a hint of fear as he began to describe, "Long, spindly limbs, a face without features, spider-like, in a suit-I witnessed Katie being taken away."
Qin Muye's pupils shimmered with a crimson crystal as he inspected the youth closely. The boy was enveloped in a wisp of aura, not the same type as the one on Andy, but it still proved that he was marked.
The other party wasn't lying, but the question was how they had provoked the Thin Shadow Ghost. As it seemed, as long as one didn't court death, they generally wouldn't die.
"It seems you were involved with the Thin Shadow Ghost incident. Would you mind telling me about it?" Qin Muye sat back down and urged the other party to calm down.
"Last night Katie and I were walking home, and she found some torn pages and said we should play some thrilling game. It wasn't until after we finished that she told me it was to summon the Thin Shadow Ghost. This morning when I went to wait for her to go to school, I saw Katie leaving with the Thin Shadow Ghost. I was too scared at that moment to follow her."
"Father Andrew, you must rescue Katie. They can't have gone very far right now," the boy said anxiously.
"So you're saying that this only just happened, right?" Qin Muye narrowed his eyes as he spoke.
"Yes, Father," the boy replied, his tone now carrying a plea.
"Well, in that case, let's set off right away," Qin Muye stood up and then said, "Leave half the people in the church, this might be part of the Witch's plan. If she dares come while I'm away, keep her here."
"Also, notify the mayor and the Law Enforcers, and ask for their cooperation."
After Qin Muye spoke, he took Tian Qi and half of the Evangelical Spirit Monsters and left.
About ten minutes later, three police cars came roaring in, led by the mayor and the head of the Law Enforcers.
"Father Andrew, as soon as we got the call from your Cult members, we came immediately. But with so many of you, I'm afraid the police cars won't have enough room," the mayor said, poking his head out of the car.
"I'll ride with this... young man, what's your name?" Qin Muye nonchalantly opened the car door, got in with Tian Qi, and then waved for the young man to come sit with them.
The young man was a bit reserved, as things were not quite as he had imagined. In his mind, he had envisioned just he and Qin Muye defeating the Thin Shadow Ghost, not involving the Law Enforcers.
"My name is Havier, Father," the boy said once he was inside the car.
Qin Muye nodded, "Alright, you can guide us now; they can easily keep up."
Though Havier was somewhat baffled, he complied, and soon the police cars moved out. Fifty Evangelical Spirit Monsters easily kept up with the leading vehicles, a sight that stunned the townspeople.
Chasing cars was indeed feasible for a short time, but this group from the Cult in red robes didn't seem tired at all as they relentlessly followed behind the cars.
"Are these people from the Judgement Court?" the mayor asked tentatively.
"To each their own, that was the agreement between you and me, Mr. Mayor," Qin Muye implied he wouldn't say.
The mayor laughed, "Hahaha, I forgot, I forgot, I'm really sorry, Father Andrew, my curiosity got the better of me just now."
He was not even a bit embarrassed, instead, he covered his real thoughts with a hearty laugh. "It's okay, I just hope that next time, Mr. Mayor, you don't express your curiosity, otherwise, I might get curious as well," Qin Muye was not taken in by this and indicated that if the mayor kept playing this game, he would also be unable to suppress his own curiosity. "Everyone has curiosity," the mayor vaguely brushed the matter aside, implying that they should mind their own business.
But Qin Muye didn't believe it, thinking that if the mayor had truly meant to leave things alone, he wouldn't have probed in the first place.
Luckily, the mayor had long been seasoned in the ways of officialdom and had the art of conversation. He quickly steered the topic back to the tall thin shadow.
He shared some intelligence about the tall thin shadow with Qin Muye, as if their previous exchange had never happened.
Soon, the car arrived at the edge of Akman Town, by a forest.
"Father Andrew, I'm afraid the police car can't go any further; we'll have to walk from here,"
the mayor said.
"No problem, but there's one more important thing: why do you know that the tall thin shadow is in here?" Qin Muye asked Havier, looking at him.
All the way, Havier had been directing the police car's journey as if he had a personal sense of the tall thin shadow's route. Could that be possible?
He had previously said he was extremely frightened and came to find Qin Muye, so it was impossible for him to know how the tall thin shadow had moved.
"I...I can see some images, the perspective is quite high, so this might be the tall thin shadow's route," Havier seemed truly terrified as he spoke with a quivering voice. "Can you still see them now?" Qin Muye didn't dwell on these details, but became more convinced that this was definitely a ploy to lure the tiger away from the mountain; otherwise, it was too much of a coincidence.
However, he had faith in the abilities of the Evangelical Spirit Monsters, which were a force of 50 troops with Epic-level professions, the strongest among all of Qin Muye's elite troops. "Yes, Katie isn't dead yet, she's just been hung up, there's still a chance," Havier hurriedly said.
"Mr. Mayor, shall we go together?" Qin Muye invited.
He was worried that this guy was playing tricks behind his back, so he planned to bring him
along.
"Is that really appropriate... Okay then, I think with Father Andrew and the Cult here, everything should be fine," the mayor seemed to want to prove his innocence; he could naturally read between the lines as well.
"There's no need for that. Leave ten people to protect our return to the church. Let Havier lead the way with the rest, they are faster. I think someone's preparing to surprise us at the church," Qin Muye decided not to go. He had faith in the abilities of the Evangelical Spirit Monsters, but it would be better if they could capture the enemy alive, which required Tian Qi
to step in.
As for the tall thin shadow? To put it bluntly, couldn't 40 Evangelical Spirit Monsters beat it? Did they really think the enemy was a war god? From the style of abduction, the combat power of the tall thin shadow seemed far inferior to the Pumpkin Head Evil Spirit, so why waste time, better to go back and watch the show.
The Evangelical Spirit Monsters picked up Havier and disregarded whatever situation the mayor was in. The 40 Evangelical Spirit Monsters rushed into the forest at an incredibly fast
speed.
"Don't worry, Mr. Mayor, soon you should be able to see the tall thin shadow's black suit in my church," Qin Muye led the way into the car and indicated they could drive back.
As for Qin Muye personally going there? He had underlings, there was no need to take the field himself-it would be foolish.
The mayor's expression shifted subtly, but he quickly covered it up and sat back in the car, "Since Father Andrew is confident, then that is for the best."
And as for Havier, the unlucky soul, the mayor left the Law Enforcement Bureau and a few Law Enforcers behind to rendezvous, so there wouldn't be any major issues.
