Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Gaining Momentum, Let the Plot Follow My Lead

?

"Shenxing, what brings you to see me today?"

Although Chen Lu wasn't fond of his distant relative nephew, he was still family, deserving of some respect.

"I've come specifically to introduce a person to Governor Chen, someone who can change the situation. This is Scholar," Wang Shenxing didn't beat around the bush and addressed him by his official title.

Chen Lu found this odd, yet he frowned in response.

"Hello, I am Scholar, a lord from an exotic realm, skilled in magic," Qin Muye introduced himself.

"Shenxing, I'm very busy, and your friend here is indeed amusing, but you've grown up now. You should know when it's okay to fool around and when it's not," Chen Lu didn't scold him directly, but his expression was not pleased.

Wang Shenxing was equally surprised by Qin Muye's absurd introduction.

"That's why he has introduced me to Governor Chen, as this meeting could change the era." With that, Qin Muye conjured several Magic Divine Arrows in his hands, which floated in the air, emitting an aura of fire and death.

This spectacle left both Wang Shenxing and Chen Lu dumbfounded.

However, they quickly composed themselves, and Qin Muye casually dispelled the Magic Divine Arrows.

"Well, Shenxing, you did something right this time, and I am truly amazed, but this doesn't necessarily mean..."

Before he could finish, Qin Muye used the Death Fog, abruptly filling the entire office with a dense fog.

The two felt a weakness overcoming them.

"Death Fog, Death System Strategic Magic, military level. I've controlled the intensity."

After releasing it, he immediately dissipated it, but the effect lingered.

He then cast an Evil Curse, causing a firelight to appear, and the two felt increasingly weak.

"Evil Curse, Fire System Strategic Level Magic, also military level. Don't worry, I've controlled it; you'll recover in at most 10 minutes."

"My domain is located in an area infested with monsters, so most of my studies have been on weakening monsters with military level magic. I don't have any beneficial magic, and my attack magic is too powerful to use here, as you have seen before. I dare not release it, so please forgive me."

"So, Governor Chen, perhaps now we can have an honest and open discussion?"

Chen Lu couldn't help but smile bitterly. He felt utterly drained of strength as if all his power had been siphoned away.

"I believe you. To be honest, this is quite unexpected. What would you like to discuss?" Chen Lu responded immediately.

"Firstly, I want to meet with the higher-ups of Wen Country. Although you're a high-ranking official, there are many matters you're not qualified to handle. Ideally, we should involve multiple officials, possibly via video conference."

"As for my purpose, are you interested in studying magic? We could exchange what we excel at to change the world a bit."

"Of course, I have my demands. Firstly, you'll need to provide me with corresponding knowledge. After all, it's not reasonable to expect me to give you my knowledge for free. By exchange, I mean I need your technology in return-I don't require state secrets, just general information will do."

"You must also help us both complete certain bound destinies. This is crucial, as without these destinies serving as anchors, I will be expelled from your world, and you will suffer the most loss."

"After all, the ultimate goal of magic is to achieve eternal life, a prospect I imagine no one could refuse," Qin Muye laid it all out, and Chen Lu took it in before responding promptly, "Alright, I will contact them as soon as possible. I can't guarantee anything, but with the surveillance footage, there shouldn't be any major issues."

Wang Shenxing's mind was a whirl. Suddenly the conversation had turned to matters of destiny, but he didn't interrupt. Qin Muye's words were also a guarantee for him, ensuring he had the backing of Wen Country for completing the plot in the future.

For Chen Lu, he knew Qin Muye must be withholding something, but he also saw it as an opportunity. If successful, his achievement would be tremendous.

Perhaps he might even leverage this relationship to secure a presidential seat in the future.

Ten minutes passed in an instant, and the de-buffs from the Death Fog and Evil Curse on them naturally vanished. Then Chen Lu picked up his phone, "Secretary Song, cancel this afternoon's meeting, I've got something on."

"Mr. Scholar, let me rearrange this afternoon's schedule. I'll be free to assist Mr. Scholar for the rest of the day," Chen Lu explained.

As a Governor, he was undoubtedly busy daily; he couldn't possibly just lounge around sipping tea. Managing a province was no small task.

"Please do, if you don't mind, I'd like to read some books," said Qin Muye, gesturing towards the office's bookshelf.

Chen Lu, already on the phone, carried on his conversation, but gestured that it was okay for Qin Muye to peruse the books.

Qin Muye pulled out a book titled "Complete History of the Seventy-Two Dynasties" from the bookshelf. It was a thick history book.

But with Qin Muye's abilities, he found it easy to read; at least he didn't have to worry about the language, thanks to "Lord Era" doing the translating for him.

'National Martial Arts?'

Qin Muye saw this term and recalled Wang Shenxing mentioning that the character he replaced, Xiao Chen, was a National Martial Artist wielding Dark Strength.

'This world seems to have extraordinary powers too.'

'However, they appear to be not very advanced, more akin to training methods and techniques of applying force.'

If National Martial Arts were truly powerful, this world would likely not be a technological society but more akin to a world of martial arts.

Thus, compared to the vast technological system, National Martial Arts was probably obsolete, so Qin Muye didn't give it much thought.

Unless there was some mishmash of Cultivation or Spiritual Energy Recovery, it would be impossible otherwise.

But according to the plot described by Wang Shenxing, none of that was present - it was all about showboating and face-slapping. The world didn't revolve around any individual.

But now that Qin Muye had demonstrated his value, he had the capability to make the entire Wen Country revolve around him.

Plot completion? If Wen Country got involved, he could direct the play however he wished, deploying all of Wen Country's resources to support him, even having professional

instructors guide him online.

To blindly follow the plot like an idiot would indeed make it a survival mission. When contemplating missions, one can't solely rely on the perspective of "Lord Era"; it is necessary to step out of the box and consider the world and various factors.
