Chapter 77: Chapter 77: The World Unilluminated by Light
?
Under the coercion of the professional dark hands and the Demon Blood's knife, Ex-Floating Grass, the cave dweller, honestly spilled all the details about the Underworld.
He did think about being stubborn, but his strength didn't allow it, especially since Tian Qi was thinking of peeling his skin off to make a fur coat for Qin Muye, which made him more certain that there wasn't a single normal brain among them.
After all, who starts an interrogation with skinning? At least ask a question first.
"Master, you heard. Do you have any instructions?" the dark hand asked respectfully.
Qin Muye waved his hand, "You make the decision. If worse comes to worst, we'll just run away. I'm almost at the right level anyway."
He was already at level 19. When he reached level 20, he would look into the Advance tasks. If they seemed feasible, he would attempt them as well. If not, he would have to return to his territory first and then allow the Spirit Monster to advance.
Honestly, he saw this leveling journey as a mere excursion.
At present, if his Spirit Monsters actually united as one, they could likely defeat a level 4 Hero unit, though level 5 might be a bit uncertain. However, overpowering in groups wasn't a problem.
Defeating higher levels made sense. Otherwise, all the resources Qin Muye had invested would have been wasted.
For instance, before leaving, Qin Muye reloaded them with skills like the Elemental Shield and Magic Protection, which they lost upon becoming Heroes, much like Blood Frenzy and Death Curse-special skills that could not be upgraded.
Of course, being unupgradable meant they couldn't choose from three upgrades after advancing in the "Lord Era," not that Qin Muye couldn't further modify them.
Then there were the Treasures. Remember that 36 million Points were spent on buying Advanced Treasures to arm them.
Such as wicked wands and Magic Robes, Demon Blood's long knife, and even Tian Qi's robes, among others.
It was a pity they couldn't synthesize a Divine Artifact.
Qin Muye didn't swap his gear; he just had a Magic Source and an Azure Headband. It's not that the dark hand didn't offer; it's just that Qin Muye wasn't interested. The stuff would have been wasted on him if not for the Magic Source, which he needed. Otherwise, he would have given it to Tian Qi.
His Flesh Parasite could be reused, meaning if released sufficiently, there might be nothing left inside the enemy's body except parasitic tentacles-a kind of instant death.
Fighting and killing weren't Qin Muye's cup of tea.
"Let's head to the Underworld then. We need some insignificant help from the subterranean races."
Since Qin Muye offered no objections, the dark hand went ahead and gave the order.
This made Ex somewhat uneasy. Insignificant help?
He wasn't referring to corpses, was he?
Under Ex's guidance, they quickly arrived at a hidden Teleportation Stele.
This thing looked just like a proper gravestone; you only needed to activate it to teleport to a fixed area, similar to Qin Muye's initial Teleportation Gate.
The only difference was that this device directly transported people, while you had to walk through Qin Muye's Teleportation Gate.
A flash of light passed by, and all the Spirit Monsters were teleported away.
The Underworld was pitch dark, utterly devoid of any source of light.
This was not friendly for the Spirit Monsters.
The sudden darkness also made the Spirit Monsters quite anxious.
"Quiet!" Demon Blood shouted, stopping the minor actions of the Spirit Monsters.
Then Black Hand took out an Intermediate Treasure, the Enlightenment Lamp, which simply increased the vision by 10 points.
But that wasn't the point; the point was that the light was truly bright, dispelling the darkness and illuminating the view.
Black Hand directly hung it on the Alchemy Carriage, making it a light source.
"Lead the way; we won't go to Black Corner City. Let's go to a weaker city, preferably one of the Cave People," Black Hand said to Ex.
In response, Ex was somewhat bitter, "Mr. Spirit Monster, we Cave People do not have cities. We are too weak; generally, we are slaves."
The status of the Cave People was probably about the same as that of Spirit Monsters. If compared, a Farmer of the Human Clan with a pitchfork could kill a Cave Person.
"Oh, that's really a pity. Then let's find a similar city," Black Hand said, unimpressed by the situation.
He even thought the Cave People were a good race; had it not been for his better Skeleton Soldiers, he might have chosen the Cave People for manual labor.
Although that's what the Cave People were doing now anyway.
As for Ex, after becoming a Hero, he had escaped from bitter misery. However, due to the Innate weakness of his race and lack of a sufficiently strong Profession, he was much weaker than a regular Hero and wasn't well-regarded in Black Corner City.
Otherwise, why would they send him to communicate with the Undead on the surface?
For the Cave People, a species long adapted to the underground without light, coming to the surface was an insult and torment.
Unfortunately, when under someone's roof, you had to bow your head; now that he was captured, he had to cooperate or likely face skinning and deboning.
"Yes, please head north. There is a gathering place of Grey Dwarves there, with around ten thousand dwellers," Ex used his Perception organs to recognize his region and then pointed
north.
A fellow Daoist giving way to poverty, after all, the Grey Dwarves were no good either. Driven by the Dwarf Clan, they came to the Underworld and gradually became a new species. Although they, like Dwarves, were skilled at weapon-making, their characters were evil, cunning, extremely cruel, and they loved to torment creatures, especially their Dwarf cousins. Or it could be said that all creatures of the Underworld were evil, including the Cave People.
Did you seriously think Ex was kind? His life was merely controlled by Qin Muye, which was why he appeared so submissive.
Otherwise, how could he possibly become a Hero and join a power in such a harsh environment, purely on goodness?
If he really had that intention, he would have started liberating his kind long ago, rather than oppressing his own with other species of the Underworld.
From this, it could be seen that the division in the Underworld was more based on power than
race.
Black Hand led the team forward, remaining cautious about what Ex said. As soon as he gathered enough Skeleton Soldiers, he planned to disable this creature immediately, leaving
it to Qin Muye as a test subject.
Qin Muye was quite interested in the Perception organs of the Cave People. If he could decipher it, it would be very beneficial for the Spirit Monsters. After all, it was a type of sensing Magic Power. Even in the dark, it was completely possible to live normally without relying on vision, only through Perception, which still held a lot of potential.
