Apocalypse: I Built the Infinite Train

Chapter 113: Ascending

Chapter 113: Ascending

WHOOOOOOO—!!!

The Gemini 11R Nuclear Electric Locomotive roared through the underground tunnel, its engine output far surpassing that of the old Huanxing 7F Electric Locomotive from the Infinite Train.

It rapidly gained speed, its deep hum reverberating through the vast tunnel as it charged forward.

Lin Xian was fully focused, not daring to let his guard down for even a second.

Not far ahead was the makeshift track he and KIKI had hastily repaired. If the earthquake had destroyed it, he would have no choice but to slam the emergency brakes.

KIKI gripped the cockpit railing, her gaze fixed on the tunnel ahead, her Ability at the ready.

Suddenly—

The collapsed outer wall came into view.

"Up ahead!"

KIKI shouted. She looked ready to activate her Ability at any moment.

WHOOSH!!!

At the edge of the tunnel breach, a powerful air current was violently rushing inward.

Something massive was moving outside—closing in!

Lin Xian's eyes narrowed.

The temporary track he and KIKI had constructed was still intact—the earthquake hadn’t destroyed it!

Without hesitation, Lin Xian pushed Mechanical Heart to full throttle.

"We’re blasting through!"

KIKI’s eyes glowed faintly, her Ability enveloping the entire train to help stabilize it.

WHOOSH!

Sparks flew as the locomotive rushed over the temporary track—

The iron plates buckled, the support beams twisted, but they held just long enough!

And at that exact moment—

As the train sped past the breach, Lin Xian and KIKI both caught a glimpse of what lay beyond.

A row of massive eyes stared back at them.

Deep in the darkness—an unspeakable horror watched.

Like a leviathan lurking in an abyss, its blood-red eyes as large as colossal gears.

The sheer sight of it made the air freeze—

Lin Xian and KIKI felt an overwhelming suffocating pressure crash down on them.

"AHHHH!!!"

KIKI screamed, her face going pale.

"What the f* IS THAT?!"

"HELL IF I KNOW!!!"

Lin Xian gritted his teeth, his entire body drenched in cold sweat.

A near-death terror surged through his veins.

Mechanical Heart pushed to overclocked limits—Lin Xian willed the nuclear locomotive to FLY.

Above Underground City No. 9

Under the eerie glow of the Cursed Moon, the titanic shadow in the abyss began to rise.

Its brown-red, scale-covered body slowly emerged.

It had massive insectoid legs, as large as skyscrapers, growing from its fish-like torso.

Atop its grotesque form, countless flesh tendrils coalesced into a monstrous human face—

A behemoth from the depths, a nightmare given form.

"AWWWWOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"

A deafening, abyssal roar tore through the underground city.

The ground quaked—snow piled atop the ruins collapsed into avalanches.

The massive creature lifted one of its enormous limbs and slammed it against the underground city walls!

Tunnel - Infinite Train

BOOOOOM!!!

The impact shook the entire city—sending a massive shockwave racing through the ascending tunnel!

Infinite Train trembled violently.

The wheels screeched, sparks flying, debris cascading from the ceiling.

Inside the train—

"AHHHH!!!"

Zhao Yan and Xu Wen screamed.

Shasha was thrown to the ground, while Chen Sixuan clung tightly to the control panel.

As the train reversed rapidly, a cloud of thick dust engulfed them.

But still—no sign of Lin Xian’s train.

"Lin Xian! Lin Xian!!"

She slammed the Responder.

—Static.

For a split second, communication was lost.

Then—

"Chen-laoshi, how much backup power do we have left?!"

Lin Xian’s voice cut through.

Chen Sixuan’s eyes flickered. She glanced at the system monitor.

"15%! But climbing the incline is draining power fast—we’re running at max capacity!"

"Hold on—I'm coming up!"

Behind Infinite Train - Gemini 11R

A black-purple locomotive erupted from the dust cloud, barreling forward at insane speed!

Lin Xian’s visibility was near zero—the earthquake had filled the tunnel with smoke and debris.

From the Responder, Ding Junyi’s calm voice chimed in,

"Did the earthquake awaken the creature?"

Despite the chaos, she sounded completely emotionless—as if this was nothing to her.

"No idea!" Lin Xian growled. "But that thing FOUND us! It might be trying to CLIMB OUT!"

Ding Junyi silently nodded, her fingers typing rapidly.

She had hacked into the underground city's systems and was already rerouting track switches—

"Adjusting station routes to GF4—if you plan to haul those Kor-3 Biological Science Research Carriages, this will save time."

"Good! Everyone, HOLD ON! I might RAM INTO YOU!"

Meanwhile - Gemini 11R

The dust hadn’t settled, yet a fiery explosion suddenly engulfed the train’s side!

"IT’S HERE!!"

KIKI’s eyes glowed, her Ability instantly stabilizing the train.

Ahead in the tunnel—

A red monstrous silhouette appeared—

It was the Red Skeletal Horror from Level 89—it had somehow descended into this tunnel and was now clinging to the walls, breathing fire at the locomotive!

"RAM IT!" KIKI shouted.

"DON’T LET IT BREATHE AGAIN!"

The Gemini 11R wasn’t armored yet—its titanium-alloy body was durable, but Lin Xian feared that if critical components melted under the flames, the train would be crippled.

If they broke down now, they were dead.

"YOU!!! GOOOODDD!!!!"

The Red Skeletal Horror let out a distorted human-like scream.

Its bone spikes extended, its charred, bloody arms lunging at the train—

It spat fire again.

"SCREW YOU!"

KIKI snarled, her eyes flashing silver—

Her telekinetic force smashed the creature against the tunnel wall, pinning it in place!

The flames spewed from its mouth backfired, scorching its own face!

BOOOOOOM!!!

The entire tunnel glowed red-hot—even the walls melted under the intense heat!

"AWOOOOOOOO!!!!"

The Deep Abyss Behemoth let out another earth-shaking roar—

Lin Xian felt danger creeping up fast.

"KIKI, THROW IT BACK!"

KIKI instantly understood—

With a flick of her wrist, she hurled the Red Skeletal Horror backward.

BOOM!!!

The tunnel behind them collapsed, and the massive creature from the abyss ripped the horror apart.

"YA YA YA!!"

KIKI let out a victorious cheer, then suddenly waved her hands, pulling something back.

Lin Xian turned—

She had ripped off the monster’s HEAD!

"DON’T YOU DARE BREATHE FIRE AT ME!"

"WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING?!"

"What? Waste not, want not!"

She crushed the skull, extracting a medium-grade Eerie Blood Crystal.

She ran to the cockpit window, reached out, and grabbed it.

Lin Xian stared, dumbfounded.

"You did that on purpose, didn’t you?!"

KIKI shook her head.

"Nope! It just happened to be in my hand… figured why not?"

Lin Xian: "......"
