Chapter 1015: The Azure Festival Begins
"Not Bad Lenny. That was really good acting. In fact, if I was not holding the girl, I too would have fallen for it like Kanada." The moment Cena said this, she shook Venir with her tail. "Don’t worry little one! The bad old lady is gone. You can stop pretending now."
At first Venir did not move. However, cena pinched her cheek and she jumped up awake.
Lenny looked at Cena with a frown.
It was obvious that she was very observant. Lenny had indded brought out a gun, and what he shot was an actual bullet.
However, at the time he did it, they were still within his semi domain. And Lenny had stated earlier on that there was only one rule within his Blood House Domain, and that was the fact that anything he willed turned into blood.
It was simply that.
When he shot the gun, the bullet, just before impact with Venir’s head had turned into blood and the splash of blood that they all saw was not her head bleeding, but the blood bullet splashing on her forehead.
Venoir on the other hand, at the moment of impact had immediately realized that Lenny had not actually killed her. She had looked at him and had noticed the intelligent look in his eyes.
She may look like a little girl, but she had at least spent seven hundred years roaming the semi plane. Even if she did not want to be smart, there was a certain level of intelligence and wisdom that came with age.
Immediately, she played dead. Kanada had believed what she saw. And Lenny had indeed also played his part well, carrying a look of decisiveness and the attitude that came with it.
Lenny understood that people did not exactly believe what was right before their eyes, but believed what the person in control was able to make them believe.
It was the same way a magician would pull a rabbit out of a hat in front of hundreds of people and people would believe the trick.
It was all in the masterful hands of the person in control.
However, Cena was a greater demon and she was in bodily contact with Venir. With her powers and abilities, it was not hard to see through the trick.
Lenny pointed the gun at Cena, "Do I have to battle you too?" he asked with a very straight face.
She shook her head. "There is no need for that. I only went along with what the old woman said because she promised that it was the only way to leave this dying planet. I am a proud Greater demon of the Ouroboros Clan, do you think I am more interested in killing children!?" she allowed the little girl to go, and immediately, Venir ran over to hide behind lenny.
"I am not you enemy Lenny! Kanada has had over a three hundred year strike of accurately predicting events. It was hard not to believe her when it came to this one, and that is why I agreed."
Lenny raised a brow at her, "Really!? And why do you not side with her now?"
"Well, in all these hundreds of years, your stepping out of that devil Dungeon is the first time she was wrong. Lenny Tales, the first person to have broken the prediction of a chosen by fate. You are a very interesting character and I am interested in Interesting characters." She gave lenny a meaningful look.
"Back off Snake face! The Pretty boy is mine." Cena was was interrupted abruptly by Tomato who was feasting on a soul beast she had captured. As she fed on it, the arm that was cut off slowly regenerated at visible speed until it was healed once more.
"Hmmm! Another interesting Character!" Cena licked her lips with her forked tongue.
"Hard pass snake face, I don’t do Dickless!" She turned away from her.
Just then, venir, hiding behind Lenny fell to the ground.
Lenny and Cena both moved to help her.
Cena placed a hand on her head, "she is turning cold. The Azure Ceremony must have started."
"What do you mean?"
"The Semi-plane has always been mined for its power during the Azure festival. I believe that the same thing is happening again."
"The Azure Festival!" Lenny frowned. It had began and he needed to be a part of it.
.........
Cain hung suspended in the center of the massive prison cell, his body bruised and battered from the thousand whip slashes that crisscrossed his skin as well as stabs here and there. these were wounds that should have killed even a demon, but even now, his body showed signs of heeling.
His hands and feet were tightly bound, and he hung upside down, the weight of his own body pulling at his joints in agonizing ways. Below him, a sea of a hundred pointy spikes, each stained with poison, gleamed ominously in the dim light, promising pain and torment rather than a swift death.
Despite the unbearable pain, Cain’s lips moved softly as he sang an old Latin hymn about faith, his voice a strained yet defiant whisper in the oppressive silence of the cell.
His beard was matted with blood and sweat, and on his back, a large tattoo of a snake coiled menacingly. Above the snake, the name "ABEL" was inscribed in bold letters, a testament to his identity and the burden he carried after the death of his brother.
Suddenly, the sharp click of high heels echoed through the cell, signaling the approach of someone important. Abel’s eyes, filled with pain but still sharp, flicked upwards towards the source of the sound. A woman appeared at the edge of a balcony overlooking the cell. She had full black hair and a beautiful, serene temperament, but her eyes were clouded, sightless. She moved gracefully, guided by a blind cane she used to navigate her way.
As she reached the edge of the balcony, Abel’s cracked lips curled into a faint, pained smile. "Hey Aunt Naamah. You look as dashing as ever. Too bad you’ve never seen yourself in a mirror."
Naamah’s smirk was cold, almost amused. "How many times have I told you not to call me Aunty? Eve is not a sister I acknowledge."
Her voice was smooth, carrying a mix of disdain and a touch of genuine curiosity. She looked down at him, or at least faced his direction, with an air of detached superiority. The irony of her blindness was not lost on Cain, who chuckled weakly despite the searing pain it caused him.
"Still holding onto that grudge, I see," he rasped, his voice barely above a whisper. "You know, family feuds are so passé."
Naamah’s smirk widened. "You never did understand, Cain. This is not a grudge. This is justice. Eve’s bloodline has always been a thorn in our side. Even after these thousands of years, I still cannot believe she choose a life with the Oaf, Adam."
Cain laughed, a bitter sound that echoed off the cold, stone walls. "Justice, huh? Funny how your version of justice involves War on all living beings."
She smirked, "don’t get me on that boy. Creation, all good and bad was made to be beautiful, and no one treasured it more than me. I paid for that love with my sight."
Naamah continued, her voice cold and cutting. "I know you, boy! You claim to be a freedom fighter and fight for these people. But in truth, you only want to obstruct my plans to unlock purgatory!"
Cain’s frown deepened, pain etched into every line of his face. "There is nothing good in that place. There is a reason that the One Above All imprisoned all of the fallen. Besides, are you not with the Abaddon royal family? I do not remember Demons and Fallen Angels being on friendly terms."
Naamah raised her cane, waving it in the air. A gust of wind, seemingly summoned by her command, wrapped around Abel and drew him closer to her. She leaned in, her blind eyes somehow piercing through his very soul. "It’s not for the demon family. It’s for...me...for us. That place has something I am interested in, and I am going to get it no matter what. And ONE day I will get my revenge. On HIM."
She leaned back, a twisted smile playing on her lips. "The Azure Festival is here. I would have loved to kill you, but you are cursed to roam the earth forever. I’ll save you a good viewing point, so you can see your precious Celessera burn to the ground."
Cain’s heart pounded in his chest, a mix of dread and defiance swirling within him. "You won’t get away with this, Naamah. Someone will stop you."
Naamah laughed, a chilling sound that echoed through the prison cell. "Oh, Cain. You still don’t understand, do you? There is no one left to stop me. I’ve seen to that."
She turned on her heel, the sharp click of her high heels resonating through the chamber as she walked away. Cain’s eyes followed her, a mix of hatred and despair in his gaze. The door closed behind her, leaving him alone once more, suspended over the deadly spikes Cain could not help but remember a certain someone....
