Chapter 1076: Athena’s connection To The Old Ones
Chapter 1076: Athena’s connection To The Old Ones
the minutes turned to hours, and then she finally woke up. The Hell beast family were stopping. This segment of hell was a place she had never seen before.
It was not cold but had a pungent smell about it. All around, she could see abandoned equipment, there were also some hell beasts that were attached to this equipment, seemingly in boundage as there was no one to free them of their predicament.
Athena had become stronger now, and her connection to the rest of the world had also improved of course, it was not at a cosmic level like those that had reached the Deep demon realm and above but at a more precise personal level, of constant exchange and understanding of energy with the outside world.
She could tell at one glance that these Hell beasts had been trapped within these giant chains that held their necks and limbs for hundreds of years, some of them for even thousands of years.
These hell beasts unlike the Ant Eater looking Mother Hell beast were much older, and bigger, they looked like the failed mix experiment of a raccoon with a crocodile, with extended mouths and very hard skin. They all had six limps. Four of which looked like they were made for grabbing and and squeezing. Equipped to be huge and sharp.
The Mother Hell beast much smaller in size compared to these gigantic creatures was like a dwarf child close to an obese adult.
The Hell Beast mother walked to the front of these much larger creatures, and then something incredible happened. She regogitated some of the meal she had eaten, the plants with the souls.
On doing this, these trapped hell beasts screeched to the sky, as if thanking her before, they began to munch.
Athena saw this and was perplexed by it.
She turned behind only to see that other hell beasts also came this way, vomitting what they had eaten and presenting it to thes much bigger ones.
At such a time, she could not help but sit up right.
One look and she could understand what was happening. These gigantic hell beasts were trapped and as such were being fed by other hell beasts.
In a way, it was a respectable community that cared for their elderly when they needed it.
But there was more. Athena could clearly feel that they was more to this.
She raised her head and then she focused on the awakening of her new abilities, spreading her senses into the environment and that was when things began to make a lot more sense.
Once upon a time, Athena could use the wind to sense a long past journey. The Atyhena now was much different from what she use dto be like.
She spread her senses and a golden hue expanded from he body in all direction.
And then this place as if showing her a movie began to tell its story to her.
It was as if she was watching a long circle of life but playing it backward.
This place was a major economical harvesting point of Demons. Demons were the ones that put these Hell beasts in Chains, and they rared them for food.
But not like humans did with cattle.
At least human beings killed theirs.
This was different. Whenever a part was needed, the demons would come, submit the Hell beast to intense torture so that they succumbed and then they would cut out the chunk of meat as it wa sneeded, and then give the hell beast time to heal, only to repeat the process again and again.
From the looks of it, this place was not only inhospitable to humans, but had also been inhospitable to demons as such, the hell beasts, true rulers of this Hell hole were the source of everything, every form of life in this place was birthed as a result of taking advantage of their being.
Athena could not help but imagine what it must have felt like to be subjected to such torture for hundreds to thousands of years.
These creatures were supposed to be regulators of souls that have fallen and received their torture, but they were instead used as food.
For some weird reason, as she did what she did, Athena unknowingly, connected too deeply and then the chains around the necks of these ancient creatures suddenly began to glow in a faint rune, and instantly, the runes, activated the chains all around and then came sparks of elcetricity that spread through the chains, forcefully subjecting them to pain and forcing them to the ground.
They screamed to the sky in pain, snapping Athena from what she was doing.
Even the Hell beast mother screeched at her.
"I’m sorry! I’m sorry!! I’m sorry!!!"
She apologized again and again.
However, at the same time, she noticed that her body glowed in a low reddish golden light.
Athena did not know what was going on, but her body was obviously reacting to the runes that imprisoned these creatures.
What Athena did not know was that, there was no gladiator created under Cuban that was normal. Even Lenny’s birth had been a potent mix of Angel, and Asmodeus family bloodline, with an addition of chaos magic from an imprisoned high devil.
This was the reason Cuban’s Halfborns were so unique.
Even those that were obvious failures were born with very special abilities, the only problem was in creating unique situations that permitted their birth.
However, just as soon as she had removed herself from that state, the light about her body powered down, and then another wave of exhaustion came over her and she fainted on the back of the baby Hell beast.
The next time she opened her eyes, she was met with licking on her face. A show of affection she was not expecting.
"I am up! I am up!! I am up!!!" she pushed against the hell beast baby licking at her face.
After what had happened, she had assumed that the hell beast mother, angry with her would abandon her, but it did not.
She rose to her feet, feeling a kind of fatique she could not understand.
It literally ravaged her body, and she sort sustenance. opening the pouch on her side, she removed the meal she had stored and immediately munched on it.
She had initially thought that this was going to last her a couple of more days, but the fatigue she felt pushed her into consuming much more than she had thought.
Finally, only a little piece the size of two fingers was left. She sighed as she placed it back into the pouch.
They were in an open space.
From time to time, she would see devils in the distance, but none of them came close.
Athena was happy that she had made the right choice to follow this family of three.
However, she had a deep seated feeling that it might not last forever. It was purely the instinct of one that had brushed with death many times.
After all, even if one was not ready for night, it could not always be day time.
The same way a storm would come to visit once in a while. One must be prepared when the storm came.
She sat up right, determined to make changes.
the first thing she did was to look around the place for weapons. after all, she worked better with them. Of course, she did not go too far from the family.
However, she managed to find the corpse of a dead Hell beast. Its bones, glistering under the poor light that this place provided.
Considering what she knew of Hell beasts, these bones were very valuable the best part was that on only touching them, she could feel a strong magic resonate from them.
These bones had faint dark runes carved on them, runes that seemed to call to her, angry at their own uselessness in this place.
And so she plugged out different parts of it that she was sure could be used has weapons.
Some for smashing, and some others for cutting and sharpening some others.
Incredible enough, she was also able to find that not all the tissue of this dead beast had dematerialized.
Of course, she did not possess enough strength to peel it off, but she was more than capable of taking those that laid scattered on the ground.
For her to take all she needed, it took her two more days.
During which she would come and take again and again.
For the next couple of days, her schedule was a very simple one. Meditate and understand better he power within her own body, build weapons and train effectively with them, and lastly, play with the two Hell beast babies that had come to enjoy her company so much.
This was something that even the Hell beast mother permitted as it allowed her time to rest away from the disturbance that the little ones brought her way.
The days went by in a blur. Not that there was a way to tell time, but Athena was sensitive to the move of the seconds and the hours, and plainly out of her sanity, she calculated them judiciously.
And then a day came. One she would never forget.
