Chapter 1080: The Seal Of A Royal Demon Family
Chapter 1080: The Seal Of A Royal Demon Family
Athena turned to the source of the cries. After all, they were slowly getting lower and lower.
It was that she wanted to. After all, this was hell, and hearing cries was not a new thing. It was like hearing the wind blow.
However, she felt a deep subtle connection to the source of the cries. It was as if something within her was reacting to the source of the cries, and was pulling her to lend a hand.
She walked over to a particular corner, and then she lifted the heavy rocks in the area.
These were boulders that would have formerly smashed her to bits, but she moved them effortlessly.
Athena knew that she had definitely gotten stronger. However, she had not known how truly strong she was. After all, it did not matter since she was still in literal hell.
After breaking a few more rocks that were in the way, she arrived at the source of all the tears and cries.
It was surprisingly the other Hell beast baby.
For all these days, it had been left crushed in this place.
One of its legs was broken and even till now, the wound could not heal because of the rocks that had found themselves stuck to it.
On seeing Athena, it had a happy look on its face. However, Athena removed her blade. If she cut it open, she might have enough meat to last her a couple of more days.
However, she looked at it and shook her head. She still felt a bit guilty that she had eaten its brother. She sighed knowing that what she was about to do was not the logical thing in this situation.
Nevertheless, she was going to do it anyway. She sighed as she took in her hands the broken leg. "I am going to fix you up, but just know this is going to hurt. A lot more than you think it will."
She brought out a smaller blade, also made from Hell beast bones. And then she began carving out the meat of the beast that had dried up together with the stone particles. This proved to be a very painful process for the beast as it cried even louder than before.
However, when she was done, the flesh visibly began to heal up.
"That’s going to take a few days to heal, but take it as a thank you to your mama, and an apology for eating your brother." After which she stood up and walked away, Carrying as much meat as she could carry into a big sack she carried on her back. She had also made this from the corpse of the hell beast.
As Such, she continued on her way. However, The Hell beast, freed from the boulders that had been crushing it stood to its feet. Athena continued on her way, not sure where to go, strictly following her senses of the places to the safest region.
However, the Hell beast continued following her. It limped all the way, but it did not stop, only when she stopped to eat. Which was very weird for her because she was eating the Hell beast’s sibling.
She tried to send it away a couple of times, but that did not work. It would go and then come right back. After a while, she stopped trying.
Athena had managed to get more control over the cells of her body, guiding the growth of her nose bridge. However, she could not fix her eyes.
It turned out that her eyes were made up of very unique cells that could not be easily grown as the cells in her body were against the cells in her eyes. Almost as if they were foreign objects.
Since she had not figured out that part yet, she let it go. After all, it did not matter as she could still sense the world through her entire body. It was truly a very unique method.
She continued on her journey that had no end and the Hell beast followed behind her.
Athena moved through the frozen landscape of this infernal realm. The land, as desolate as it was treacherous, stretched endlessly in every direction, a cold, jagged wasteland. The rocky terrain was littered with sharp outcroppings and hidden crevices that seemed to swallow anything that came near.
The air was ever filled with the stench of sulfur, and the cold was so intense it cut through even the thickest of layers, biting into the flesh like a thousand tiny needles. But Athena had grown used to the pain; it was a constant companion in this hellish place. Her body, covered in layers of scavenged hide and cloth, moved through belied the horrors she had endured.
Every where she looked was a twisted mockery of the natural world, with the only light coming from distant, flickering flames that cast grotesque shadows on the uneven ground.
Even the ice-covered rocks glistened menacingly, their surfaces dotted with the frozen, screaming faces of the damned—souls trapped for eternity in these cold prisons, their expressions twisted in perpetual agony.
As she moved deeper into the hellscape, Athena’s path was blocked by a stream of boiling lava, its surface roiling with the tormented souls of the damned. The river of molten rock bubbled and hissed, the cries of the souls trapped within echoing across the barren land. Their voices were a cacophony of despair, each one pleading for release from their eternal suffering.
The lava glowed a deep, menacing red, lighting up the otherwise dark and desolate surroundings. The heat emanating from it was unbearable, even in a place as cold as this, creating a stark contrast with the frozen ground beneath her feet. The air shimmered with the intensity of the heat, and the stench of burning flesh was overpowering.
Athena studied the stream, gauging the safest path to cross. Her senses, heightened to an extraordinary degree, picked up on subtle shifts in the environment, allowing her to navigate the treacherous terrain with a precision that would have been impossible for anyone else. She spotted a series of jagged rocks protruding from the lava—potential stepping stones to the other side.
She moved with care, her steps light and deliberate, avoiding the loose rocks that could give way beneath her weight. She reached the other side unscathed, her body attuned to the slightest changes in the air and ground.
But as Athena turned back to check on the Hell Beast, she saw it had not followed her across. Instead, it lingered at the edge of the lava, its eyes fixated on the writhing souls within the molten river. The Hell Beast, driven by its hunger, saw the souls as potential prey. It pawed at the lava, its claws dipping into the searing liquid, only to recoil in pain as the heat proved too intense.
The Hell Beast’s attempts to hunt the souls in the lava were almost pitiful. It lashed out at the boiling stream, its frustration growing with each failed attempt. Athena watched it struggle for a moment, a sigh escaping her lips. This creature, despite its monstrous appearance and nature, had become a reluctant companion.
With a resigned shake of her head, Athena decided to intervene. She focused inward, tapping into the cosmic energy that had begun to flow within her since her senses had evolved. It was a force she barely understood, yet it responded to her will as naturally as breathing.
She extended her hand towards the lava, feeling the cosmic energy pulse through her veins. With a flick of her wrist, she manipulated the energy to form a protective barrier around her hand, allowing her to reach into the searing heat. The souls, writhing in agony within the lava, were drawn to her touch, their cries intensifying as she pulled them free from their torment.
The Hell Beast watched in anticipation as Athena pulled out several souls, their ethereal forms flickering like candle flames in the darkness. It eagerly devoured the souls, its sharp teeth sinking into their spectral flesh, silencing their screams with a single bite.
It was a disturbing sight—Athena, gnawing on the meat of the Hell Beast’s sibling, while it feasted on the tormented souls. The contrast between them was stark, yet in this twisted world, it seemed almost natural. Here, morality had no place, and survival took precedence over all else.
While they ate, a visitor appeared. It was a Devil at the far corner. On seeing it, she immediately hid and also forced the hell beats to hide.
The devil came, as if searching for something and then it turned to leave.
Athena came out of hiding. However, this happened four more times, with different devils coming to search for something.
Out of curiosity, she wanted to know what it was that these Devils were always searching for and this time around, she followed, forcing The Hell beats to wait for her, but it would not stay. She had no choice but to lead it along.
Through the fog, following the Devil at a distance of more than six kilometers, clear away from the devil’s senses, they came across a ridge and then the devil dived down.
And then Athena looked within at where the devil had gone. Her eyes widened at the sight she was seeing.
Just then, she heard a voice come from behind her, "an amazing sight isn’t it? The Prison of the Demon Royal Corpse family. The family of..."
