Chapter 1081: Virgil, Guardian Of The Lost Living

"...An amazing sight isn’t it? The Prison of the Demon Royal Corpse family. The family of the Leviathans."

On Hearing the voice, Athena immediately made a huge jump to the side, unsheathing her bones and pointing them at him.

However, the figure that had arrived did not find this strange. He looked ethereal, like a ghost, but he was fully clothed. He had a long beard that was white. His clothes were a mixture of white and grey. His eyes hide beneath the hood that covered his head. But on his chest was a seal. It was a set of inverted sixes.

Athena removed her weapon and without asking questions, she struck, however, her fingers did not feel any resistance from the fellow she had cut.

But that was not going to stop her. After all, this was hell, everything that was anything here was a potential danger to her. Even more so if this person was capable of sneaking on her without her knowing about it.

The thought of it literally sent a shiver down her spine. After all, if this person had wanted to end her life, she would have been nothing but a corpse by now.

However, no matter how she attacked, this person seemed to be out of reach. He was not only out of reach to her weapons, but also to her senses, except her ears and the feel of the air.

After two more strikes, Athena gritted her teeth as a faint realization dawned on her. She was not this person’s match.

"Who are you?" she asked.

The old man gave a slight smile, "I have been called many names, most recently, even a guardian. But I think the last living soul I guided in hell called me Virgil."

Athena frowned, "I don’t know you."

He chuckled lightly, "who are we deceiving, Athena, you don’t know anybody. You are not educated enough to."

Athena frowned some more at the insult. But it was true. She was a gladiator, and their daily activity from a young age, revolved aground, fighting eating and intercourse.

That was the simple circle of their lives.

"What do you want from me?" she asked, not lowering her weapons one bit.

Virgil moved, his legs never touching the ground. He reached the side of the hell beast baby, patting its head. Meanwhile, the hell beast leaned into him, as if enjoying the display of affection.

This further surprised Athena. After all, if this guy was simply a soul which he looked like he was, then why did the Hell beast not devour him.

"I have been watching you Athena. From the moment You arrived. The suffering you have endured in hell, and how you have stood up time and time again. I commend your effort."

On saying this, he floated close to the edge of the ridge, looking below. "The Seal of a Demon royal family. The Leviathans are a very crazy bunch. Although not as crazy as the Abaddon family, but still mad. What really sets them apart from the rest is the fact that their innate nature defies the entity Death.

Of course this is as a result of the fact that they took a page from the book of death and destroyed it, bounding every demon of their bloodline with its undead blessing.

As such even the Morningstar could do nothing to them when he came to conquer Hell, and that was why they brazenly went against his power. But you see, there are somethings in this world worse than death. And to seal a powerful demon family is one way to suffer."

As he spoke, Athena still had her guide up. This person was giving her lectures she did not ask for. "I said WHO the FUCK are YOU!?" She asked again.

Virgil paused and turned to her, "I am Virgil, the Guardian of living souls in the land of the unliving and propagator of free will. I am a member of the Brotherhood. Those that stand against the fates and their version of a perfect world."

Athena raised a brow at him. After all, there was absolutely nothing he was saying that was effectively making sense to her. But she knew that she had to be patient with him.

He looked below again, as if not to recognize her presence. "what do you see?" he asked.

he knew that she was without eyes, but that did not stop her observation of the world.

Athena looked below.

Down there were a lot of Devils, surprisingly, they had managed to enslave over a hundred Hell beasts to work for them, digging deeper into what looked like a mine with the figure of faces struggling to get out. The hell beasts were harvesting these purple crystals. And shipping them to another place.

Athena had had her own share experience with Devils, but this was the first time that she was seeing them so organized.

And then, far off at one corner, there was another Devil. This one looked a bit different from the rest. Its eyes had a purple glow and in its hand was a staff also having a purple glow. Its skin looked like it was rotting.

One look at him and she could not help but remember the undead creatures back on earth.

Although she had not had much encounters with them, she had seen them when flying over with the Nether beast when she had decided to leave Lenny and be on their own.

"Hell is currently without a sovereign. The Morningstar is dead. And the demons have left for greener pastures, conquering the Underworld and the other earths. As such, there is no one to prevent a release of the seal."

"And what does that have to do with me?" Athena asked back.

Virgil turned to her, his eyes still hidden beneath his hood, "well, everything. You think your life is miserable now? Wait till that seal is fully removed and then you’ll know."

However Athena shook her head putting her weapon away, as she walked away, "that’s not my problem."

"Hmmm, what if I Tell you that I have a way. A way for you to leave Hell..."
