Chapter 939: A Burdened People
Chapter 939: A Burdened People
An Old Memory suddenly popped up in lenny’s mind. This memory had come along as a result of his body remembering this feeling of pain.
After all, it had happened before.
Back then, it had been when Lenny had gotten to the finally boss of the first dungeon he had ever entered.
his strength was so little then that manta had gotten rid of him with one move. Her blade had punctured his heart and back then, if not for a particular skill, he would have died.
"A skill!" Lenny whispered to himself. "...What Skill!?" The Statan system as a result of his situation being an emergency had popped up his skill list.
Before Lenny’s eyes was the Skill list. However, the method on activating them was nearly foreign to him.
Slowly, he continued to bleed towards his death. He could already feel his body turning cold, and a certain kind of fear enveloped him.
As the fear came, and his warm blood ran cold, a subtle lady like voice reached his ears. "Awwwnnn! Are you so desperate to see me, that you are willing to go this far just to feel my touch."
That female soft voice was both familiar and yet foreign. Her skeletal fingers wrapping around him slowly as she pulled him towards the darkness.
"But you know, if you die now, then you are..." her gentle voice suddenly changed into something sinisterly bad, "...NOT WORTHY OF MY AFFECTION..."
"NO!!!" Lenny screamed, and then he blanked out.
The last thing he remembered was forcing himself to activate a particular skill involving souls...
.......
The next time he opened his eyes, he was surprised to see where he was.
Unlike the last time, this was not a cave. Although, the ceiling was still not in the best shape, this was definitely a home.
Lenny looked below. his body had been covered by both bandages and a blanket. The light of the light seeped in from the gaps at the window, but the main light of the room was provided by crystals that glowed a beautiful white at different parts of the room.
He sniffed a bit. the strong aroma of incense and balm was in the air. This obviously came from his body. To be precised, they had come from the bandages.
He tried to move, but he felt extra weight on his arm. Looking to his side, he was surprised to see a young sleeping face drooling on him.
It was a little girl. Her skin was a bit darkish green. She had slight tattoos that ran from her neck down her arms. Her hair was black, and underneath, he could see her pointy elven ears.
This was an Earthen elf. the same specie of being as Samuel, a member of Cain’s team. However, Samuel’s ears had been cut to look human.
On Seeing her face, a bit of what had happened before he passed out flashed in his head.
He remembered the voice of the little girl crying over him as the Adult male tried to help. At the same time he remembered Nana retreating out of fear after consuming his blood.
That was the mistake of her’s that allowed him to be victorious in that battle. If not, he would have died and so would have the little girl and the adult male.
Although she ran away with her life, it was going to take a while for her to heal up from the injuries he had given her.
After all, Lenny had given his blood in her veins one order and one order only. "Destroy!"
Just as the memories went through his mind, he opened his eyes to the world about him.
Just now, even though he had been awake, he had blanked a bit. Now, the little girl was staring at him very closely. Her almond green eyes radiated her happiness the moment she saw he was awake.
She immediately dropped from the bed. "Uncle Fem! uncle Fem!! he is awake..." she rushed out of the room, and in a few minutes, Lenny saw another person entering the room with the little girl.
It was the same man he had seen back at the cave. Just like the young girl, he had a greenish skin. However, his was much lighter. Also, he tied his hair into a ponytail at the back of his head.
The man walked over to the bedside, "are you okay? You were heavily injured from your soul into your physical body. I thought there was nothing we could do to patch you up. after all, your soul was already badly wounded.
However, your soul started to feed your physical body with life. It... It was a miracle. In all my four hundred years, I have never seen anything like it."
The man rumbled on about how Lenny should have been one with the earth but somehow his constitution was different. Even though he was only clearly a half born.
However, what had happened was that Lenny had instinctively activated a skill. It was the skill that allowed him absorb the souls of those around him.
This was what had saved him from death. He absorbed the souls of the beasts he had killed. Their essence filled him up and in turn, all that energy was sent into his body to preserve his life, with only a little to repair his soul.
Lenny stood up from the bed, "where I’m I?" he asked.
"You are at the northern side of Celesstera. Our village is known as La Osun." The man bowed at Lenny. "I am Mupstick, its a pleasure to meet you sir! I would like to thank you for saving the life of me and my niece. No one has ever survived the blade of Nana the Hunter before. We thought we were goners."
Lenny sat up right. The little girl hiding behind Mupstick was pushed forward by her uncle, "Venir, say hello to the young master!"
"Young master!?" Lenny thought to himself.
However, Venir, very shy, blushed as she hide further behind her uncle.
She peeped her head out a bit, "nice to meet you!"
Lenny found her behavior cute. It made him chuckle a little.
The little girl hid her head again, her embarrassment was obvious.
Mupstick also laughed at this.
Lenny sat up. His body no longer hurt as it did before. But he could feel that certain areas were stilling up.
The healing to his body was slowed down by the healing to his soul.
Even Mupstick could see that some bandages were no longer needed. Although he believed that with the kind of wounds Lenny had, it would be a while before he could move around. "Let me help you get the bandages off..."
However, there was suddenly a loud horn that disrupted the peace.
This changed Mupstick’s expression. He immediately panicked, "Quick! you should hide young master. If they see you here, we will be in trouble. The Plantation masters do not like outsiders." he grabbed Lenny’s hand as he pulled him towards a wardrobe on the side.
Without care, he pushed Lenny inside.
There was loud shouting, "All of you get out here!!!
Line up immediately! Where is your Tax for the month? How many are you in your house hold?"
These questions were asked by men in uniform.
Mupstick and Venir hurried to hide the treatment materials for Lenny’s wounds.
However, Mupstick grabbed Venir, "don’t worry, I’ll handle this. Go out there and wait for me."
The little girl understood what he meant and she immediately hurried out.
The moment she did, she joined the other villagers forming the line and immediately getting on her Knees.
This was a village with a few tens of people. They all had their heads bowed in submission.
While inside the Wardrobe, Lenny used his sensory ability to sense what was happening outside.
he had figured out out to use this from continuous coincedence.
These were soldiers, but there were not demons. They were a subsidary of the royal demon army of the Asmodeus family.
These soldiers, like the locals were Earthen Elf.
Earthen Elves were a breed of creatures that had incredible connection with the earth. For this reason, even in a place as terrible for food cultivation as Celessera, it was easy to get a living.
Word had it that it was their natural inclination to speak to the earth itself to provide a living.
However, the Asmodeus family came some hundreds of years ago to declare the territory as their own.
Things were still not bad then, but then it became worse after the fall of the Morningstar. Celessera was a twin sub plane. Its Twin subplane was ruled by another royal family.
The Abaddon royal family.
The battle for resources and superiority between the two powerhouses made life for the Earthen Elves a living hell.
Right now, it is said that even the earth listens to them less, day after day. Which in turn makes the food production very bad.
Adding to the fact that the subplane now had devil dungeons, and the wars never ceased, which meant the Asmodeus family wanting more resources, the lives of these people was like cockroaches...
