Chapter 940: What’s Your name?

The sun, Azure in nature rose gently in the sky.

The village head, a much older woman stepped forward to meet the soldiers.

"We have not done anything wrong and not disobeyed the laws of the land. Please have mercy on us."

One of the soldiers stepped forward. He was obviously the leader of this group. "mercy!?" he snickered with an arrogant smile.

These soldiers and any like them had long sworn loyalty to the Asmodeus family. For this reason, they did not see themselves as Earthen Elves any more.

Every part of society was labelled with classes. These soldiers saw themselves as better than these people.

"We are here for the Tax. precious crystals, food? Anything of value that can be submitted, we shall take." The soldier replied.

the old woman had a confused look on her face, "Tax!? But our monthly task is not due until two weeks time. Besides, some soldiers came only a few days ago, and we barely have enough to feed."

The soldier smirked, "as you know, the Azure festival will be coming soon. It is said that lady Naamah will be attending this years event herself, and even inviting Members of the Abaddon Royal family. Including lady Lamastu and a few Elders.

You paupers are always complaining of the War. Its lady Naamah’s efforts in seeing that the long war with the Abaddon Royal family is settled once and for all.

As her subjects, we must make sure that they is ample food and resources at the festival. After all, she is doing it all for you."

Those last words came with a chuckle. As if to say that the resources that were being taken were used for their own good.

Meanwhile, the man’s words had caused a small murmur within the crowd. The Azure festival only came once in a hundred years. It was the time of the year when the sun gave a particular radiation that blessed the earth.

This was greatly celebrated by the Earthen elves. in fact, they were tribes amongst the locals that even worshipped the Azure sun for it.

There was even a local legend about this stating that the Azure sun and the subplane were long time mates parted away from one another by a curse.

To show his bond and love, the Sun sacrifices a bit of his strength every hundred years to bless the subplane.

These words had been passed through the locals from generation to generation. it was essentially a part of their culture. Even the take over of the Royal Demon families was not able to repress such foundational beliefs.

Hearing that lady Naamah was seeking ways for peace, it made the people smile and celebrate within themselves.

The soldiers chuckled at this. "Good! Since you know that we are working for your good, go in and bring out the TAX!"

The Village head steeped forward again, "Dear sir, please, you will have to forgive us. We gave all we had to the last batch of soldiers that came on patrol. As you know, the land listens to us lesser by the day. Sometimes, only the cries of the young ones truly moves the earth.

If you could at least give us two more weeks or at least a couple of days, then maybe... maybe we might be able to give you..."

*SLAP!*

The soldier gave her a back hand slap before she could even finish talking. that slap sent her to the ground, bleeding from her nose and mouth.

This instantly put fear into the villagers.

The soldier looked around. He sighted Venir at the corner of his eyes. She knelt beside her uncle, avoiding eye contact just like the others.

The soldier gave a wide grin. "You said that the earth only listens to the children these days, right?" he pointed at Venir, "YOU! come here..."

Meanwhile, Lenny within the wardrobe hiding as he had been told to do, had heard the words of the soldier clear as day.

The moment the soldier had spoken those names, ’Naamah’ and ’Lamastu’, it excited certain memories in his head that he never new that he had.

In fact, it was so profound that it excited the blood in his veins. Lenny did not know that it was the trace of lucifer bloodline in him that had gotten excited by those names and rekindled certain memories in his head.

Lenny found himself speaking out, "the sisters of Eve!?" Even though he said those words, it still sounded foreign but yet familiar to him.

It was at this moment that he heard a sharp scream.

It had come from Venir. The soldier grabbed her by her hair and raised her up into the air. The pain made her scream.

He chuckled, "good! Now, cry louder. Let the earth hear your pain and make provisions available."

Mupstick stood to his feet, "please! don’t hurt her. Don’t hurt my niece." However, the moment he stood to his feet in protest, one of the soldiers rushed at him with a punch that sent him back to the ground.

This punch had not even hit his face, it was clearly a soul attack in the Before Truth.

The soldier pulled her hair even further back, employing even more screams from the girl.

At the same time, it excited pleas from the villagers. But it was of no use.

However, just as the soldier had thought, the earth broke open and a crystal flower blossomed shooting out a crystalline fruit.

One of the soldiers saw this and chuckled as he plucked it. Even though this was crystalline, it was still edible.

He took a deep bite of the fruit, and chuckled at the delicious taste. "Hmmm! this is of good quality."

All the other soldiers laughed together. they looked at Venir as if they had found a way to a treasure chest.

Just as one would think, the soldier causing her pain removed his blade and placed it at her ear. "Lets see how much more the earth will gift if you bleed..."

"No! Don’t do that. You know. Without those we are not children of the plane." Mupstick screamed.

The soldier nodded, "My point exactly. lets see if the earth his okay with losing her connection to this one."

Venir screamed and tried to struggle and push her way out. At the same time, her uncle tried but two soldiers held him down.

There was no one to help her. Even the villagers could only watch in annoys. No one dare to do anything.

Just then blade was about to shave off her ear, Venir closed her eyes tight, expecting the terrible fate that the universe had dealt to her.

It was at this point that it happened.

*Slash!*

What everyone saw was blood in the air. However, it was not the girls ear that fell and tumbled on the ground.

Instead, it was the soldier’s arm.

The soldier let the little girl go as he screamed in pain. Everyone froze in shock and it took a while for these soldiers to understand what was going on.

However, lenny stepped forward, "forgive me, I was aiming for your head. It seems i have not fully recovered." Lenny had five long blades in his hands.

The Soldier on the ground saw this, and he frowned as he screamed, "You bastards. You have been hiding a human? Kill Them. kill them all. They have betrayed the plane, Lady Naamah and the royal Asmodeus..." He had not finished talking before another knife, tore through the air to tear off his neck.

His head fell on the ground, bouncing against the crystal earth, and blood splashing against the flower that had bloomed earlier.

The remaining soldiers saw this and rushed over. Each one of them using different techniques to attack. However, even though these soldiers had good soul quality, the strength disparity between them and lenny was too much.

This was not even a slaughter. It was practically a walk in the park for Lenny.

In no time, each and every one of them had their heads rolling on the ground.

The moment that was done, Lenny waved his hand and activated his soul devouring skill.

And then he heard another alert.

As his soul leveled up, so did a flood of memories. It made him fall to the ground. Of course, these memories were fractured. especially because some of them came from his past life and some from his new. There were also some from the creatures and beings he had devoured. In truth, it really made him confused as to who he was.

However, in all the memories, one name was evident.

Mapstick rushed over to his niece, "Thank you sir! thank you dear sir!!"

At the same time, the bodies of the soldiers instantly turned to dust and the earth swallowed their ashes. After which more flowers grew all around them, instantly turning the area into a low garden.

Lenny like all the Villagers was surprised. However, the village head stepped forward and bowed before him, "The plane... she... she approves!"

Those words made the villagers gasp in shock. Everyone looked at Lenny in obvious wonder.

"Please, tell us! What is your name strange human?" The Village head asked. The same question that was on everybody’s mind.

"The name’s Lenny! Lenny Tales..." A response that even surprised Lenny himself.
