Chapter 974: The Bait Fights Back
Chapter 974: The Bait Fights Back
Meanwhile, Lenny had successfully made it out of the dungeon. He looked behind him, at the hollow gapping hole that was the horror he had escaped and sighed.
Luckily for him, absorbing the Core of the Greater demon healed him significantly and he was able to advance his power a bit.
Also, the fraction of law that he absorbed had began its work in his body and it made the world’s view a bit more objectifying.
However, absorbing it and comprehending it fully were two entirely different things.
Of course, Lenny was not supposed to be capable of absorbing it until he had comprehended it, but he was very abnormal to begin with.
Lenny had tried many times, but something always felt like it was missing, therefore, holding him back from the comprehension that he was to achieve.
But gains, remained gains.
Lenny felt a fire in his heart. A challenge. It was call to dominate. The pride he had acquired from the Morningstar was like a storm in his blood.
He had been hunted like a rat by the devil Bosses of that Dungeon. They treated him like he was candy to be distributed, and it vexed him greatly. He wanted to get them back for this. No! He had to get them back for this.
Reading the instructions on his arm that he had left for himself to follow, he implemented his plan.
First of all, he needed a few items, including meat that he could use to set up a trap.
With the Devil Core he absorbed, he was able to inherit some of the memories of the devil that wanted to feed on him, and in those memories, he was able to learn certain things about the other devils. After all, they all grew and bloomed into the bosses of their own levels in the dungeon.
This included certain habits that the other Devil bosses had and how they regulated and controlled the entire Dungeon as a whole, who was strongest, who to avoid in a head on fight and who was best at certain things.
In every battle, Information was vital. It was the ticket to winning. With enough information, and the right use of it, even one that was without skill in war, might triumph effortlessly.
Lenny was an assassin by nature. it was the vile that flood in his blood.
When one’s prey was of superior strength, only the Will of an Assassin was the bane of losing.
Firstly, Lenny went into the forest area. Trees and fauna made to be crystalline in nature. In this place, Lenny first of all took time to observe the general pattern of the creatures that he thought to be of major threat, and then he laid a trap to capture what he believed to be the strongest.
However, soul beasts were not so easy to handle like mutated beasts or the like. many of them had the ability to be able to phase into the ethereal.
A trick that let them dodge physical traps in the After Truth. this was lesson that Lenny had to learn the hard way.
Of course, he could be patient and with time learn about these creatures. But he only had a couple of days to go, and he had taken three days trying to get good bait which ended as failure.
With the inability to use the Satan system because of its upgrade, he was unable to even access the System’s market place. All he had was access to the storage unit.
Since hunting strong soul beasts did not work, he had to work from a point of familiarity.
His target was an outpost not so far away that belonged to the Asmodeus royal family.
The commander of this outpost was a Great demon existence. On top of that, he had a level 2 Yellow soul.
He was going to be Lenny’s target.
Most little outposts like this one had a habit of being complacent. The reason was firstly because of the influence that the family had in the Plane, and secondly, they did not have resources that the Rebel army would find to be attractive.
However, lenny found something of attraction in their ranks, and as one would guess, it was their commander.
They were a few ways that he could do this, including attacking the outpost gun blazing, but he only had so much time to spare.
The earlier he killed the Devils in the Dungeon, the earlier he could upgrade his soul and then recover his memories.
And so, he waited for the dark of the night. using the shadows as a cover, he sneaked through the cover that the outpost provided.
Aside the commander who was a great demon existence, they were three other Great Demon existences, but Lenny was not interested in them.
All he wanted was the most powerful.
Finally, blending into the night, he reached the chambers of the Great demon. This was a rank 6 Great demon.
This meant that he was a rank above Lenny in power, But lenny did not care.
he sneaked into the room. The great demon had finished enjoying himself. Naked women, all of them Earthen elves, littered his wide bed.
The smell in the room was a mixture of cheap perfume and foul odour, but Lenny did not mind.
Making his way to the bed, he stroke sharp and hard.
However, just before he would strike the demon, his prey suddenly Disappeared.
"Who are you? Are you with the Rebels? sent to kill me?"
Lenny looked behind him. He sighed. This much was expected from one who was Great demon. It was because just before he stroke, a whiff of his killing intent had been let out.
At least, this was Lenny’s conjecture.
The Demon commander chuckled. "You will enter my camp, and come for my head! Truly, you have a death wish. One that I will help bring to pass." Instantly, he waved his hand and a blast of cosmic energy shot out of the room. this was a signal flare...
