Chapter 102: Demon slayer
Chapter 102: Demon slayer
The demon traveled at an alarming speed, reaching the mansion in mere minutes. Its reduced size helped it move with incredible agility.
Hilda and Reeva ran as fast as they could, but it wasn’t enough to catch up. By the time they arrived, they witnessed the chaos the demon had caused.
It was the same group of knights, but now only seven remained out of the original nine. The demon had likely taken out two in the first clash. Considering they were facing a demon, it was impressive they had held their ground for so long.
Their luck, however, was running out as they faced the monster for the second time. The demon was more aggressive than when Reeva had fought it earlier. Desperation oozed from its every move as it relentlessly attacked the group of knights.
"Shields up!" the commander shouted, and the three knights at the front raised their shields. The tentacles crashed into the shield wall with brutal force. The knights staggered back slightly, but they managed to block the attack.
"Counter!"
At the command, the shield-bearing knights used their swords to strike at the tentacles through the shield wall. Their efforts managed to chip away a bit of the demon’s mystic power.
The demon didn’t stop there. It sent its tentacles upwards, aiming to attack the knights from above. But the knights were prepared.
"Fire!" the commander ordered, and three arrows flew, intercepting the incoming tentacles. The arrows didn’t do much damage, but they altered the tentacles’ trajectories. The attack missed two of its intended targets.
One tentacle, however, struck a knight, tearing through his armor and biting into his shoulder. The knight cried out in pain, but before the demon could cause more harm, the commander stepped in with a perfectly executed vertical slash, severing the tentacle.
Reeva finally reached the scene, relieved to find the knights still holding their ground. He quickly moved in, feinting another strike at the demon.
The tentacles targeted him, but Reeva’s enhanced body withstood the assault. He closed the distance, landing another fake blow that forced the demon to expend a significant amount of its mystic power.
This provided the perfect distraction for Hilda, who slipped a knife between the tentacles extending from the demon’s body. The monster screamed in pain as Hilda activated her powers.
"Charge!" the commander shouted, and the knights bolted forward, seizing the opportunity to press their advantage. The three shield-bearers tackled the demon with bravery, their faces showing no fear, only a thirst for vengeance.
As the shields connected with the demon, another volley of arrows was fired, this time aimed directly above the knights, striking the tentacles as they tried to attack the shield-bearers again.
Reeva took advantage of the moment and delivered a powerful punch to the demon’s main body. This time, he didn’t need Hilda’s power for the demon to scream. The tentacles flailed wildly, trying to find their next target, but the lack of eyes was proving to be a significant disadvantage.
The demon’s pain distracted it from sensing its surroundings. Unlike a natural animal, it hadn’t evolved to overcome such flaws.
Seeing the demon in agony, the knights pressed their advantage. They swung their swords, slicing into the demon’s flesh and drawing its red blood. The stark contrast of the red blood against the white flesh made the demon look even more grotesque.
However, the demon quickly attempted to heal the wound using its mystic power.
Hilda threw another set of knives at the monster. The demon, recognizing the threat, tried desperately to defend against them. Reeva read its intentions perfectly and delivered a full-force punch to the demon’s main body.
The white creature’s body trembled from the impact, but before it could recover, Reeva swiftly moved in for another mystic-infused punch.
Upon transforming into his half-demon form, Reeva noticed certain limitations. Unlike a true demon, he couldn’t perceive happiness, nor could he control the yellow mist surrounding his body as an extension of himself.
He theorized that these limitations stemmed from the unique attributes of his half-demon nature. His eyes, capable of seeing mystic energies, and his brain, which struggled to command the yellow mist, seemed to be at the root of these issues. However, one thing remained undeniable: his impeccable control over the mystic forces within his own body.
In this demon form, Reeva’s control over the internal mystic force was unparalleled. Normally, a person would experience a slight delay when manipulating mystic energy, as they had to suppress their natural coldness to push the force around. But in his demon mode, Reeva could command this power without any hindrance.
As his mystic energy gathered in his fist, he struck the main body of the white monster. The impact sent ripples of yellow mist flying in all directions, a sight only Reeva could perceive.
Meanwhile, the knights continued their relentless assault. Hilda provided crucial support, targeting the monster with her pain-inducing powers, while Reeva dealt the real damage, his fists charged with the essence of happiness.
It was a chaotic brawl involving many fighters, yet they all worked in unison to bring down a single enemy.
Sensing its imminent demise, the white monster grew desperate. It tried various tricks and feints, but its instincts were no match for human intelligence. Trapped by the knights, who had embedded their blades deep into the white demon bodies to hold them in place, the creature couldn’t even attempt to flee.
If this were the only thing restraining it, the monster might have found a way out of its dire situation. However, there were two more formidable factors: Reeva, who relentlessly pummeled it with his mystic-infused blows, and Hilda, who continuously injected pain directly into its core.
With the creature suffering from all sides, its mystic power dissipated, leading to its inevitable demise.
The white flesh turns into liquid and flows downward, seeping right back to the ground where it belongs. Reeva wanted to prevent that from going down to the earth but he couldn’t. Not matter how ominous that was.
The only thing left was the body of the original White demon, Gully the eastern marchant.
